Cyberpunk 2077 does not have an officially documented, universal cheat-code menu. On PC, the practical “cheat” route is the third-party Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET) framework, which adds a console for Lua scripts and engine functions. CET commands are case-sensitive, version-sensitive, and many changed with game version 2.0. On Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch 2, and Mac, do not assume that PC commands or a developer console are available.
For weapons, the reliable official mechanic is upgrading Iconic weapons through Crafting → Upgrades when you have the required components. This guide separates built-in systems from modded commands, explains the resource loop, and puts old cheat and weapon advice in the correct patch context.
Cyberpunk 2077 cheats: the short, accurate answer
CD PROJEKT RED’s official game and support material does not document a built-in cheat console, universal cheat-code screen, or “god mode” menu for every platform. The documented console route is supplied by Cyber Engine Tweaks, a PC modding framework. CET provides a console for Lua scripts and engine functions; it is not an in-game feature shipped by CD PROJEKT RED.
That distinction matters. A command copied from a current CET page is a PC mod instruction, not a PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2, or Mac code. It can also become stale when the game or CET changes. CET’s Useful commands documentation says commands are case-sensitive and points readers toward commands for different game versions. It also notes that many commands changed after version 2.0.

“Is there a cheat console /dev mode?”
That wording appears frequently in community discussions, but a community question is not proof that a hidden developer mode exists in the retail game. Treat the answer as follows: there is no officially established universal console; PC players can use CET when its current release supports their game build; console players should use the normal game systems rather than expect PC command syntax to work.
Platform and patch context before you follow a guide
Version labels are particularly important for Cyberpunk 2077 because the 2.0 overhaul changed major systems and later updates continued to alter behavior. CD PROJEKT RED’s official Update 2.3 page lists availability on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Mac. The update is free for owners of the base game, does not require Phantom Liberty or the Ultimate Edition, and does not require starting a new game.
The latest patch number found in the official support sources reviewed is 2.31. The Patch 2.31 support notice is filed under PlayStation technical support, so use “2.31 is the latest number listed in that support material” rather than assuming every platform has an identical build or rollout.

How to use CET commands on PC
CET is the prerequisite for the command route described in this guide. The following procedure deliberately avoids presenting an unverified “magic” command: the framework’s current documentation is the authority for names and syntax, and those details can change with the game version.
- Confirm that you are on PC. CET commands are PC/mod-specific. Do not try to paste them into a console controller, Switch 2, or Mac build unless the framework documentation explicitly supports that environment.
- Match the framework to the game build. Check your installed Cyberpunk 2077 version and then read CET’s current compatibility and Useful commands pages. Version 2.0 changed many commands, so a pre-2.0 snippet is not automatically valid.
- Install and launch CET according to its documentation. The CET welcome page is the starting point for the framework’s current setup instructions. Use the release and installation method intended for your game build rather than an old video guide.
- Open the CET console using the key or control shown by the installed release. Do not assume that a keyboard shortcut from another version applies to your setup.
- Copy commands exactly, including capitalization. CET documents commands as case-sensitive. A typo, changed function name, or command from another game version can produce an error or no useful result.
- Use a separate save while experimenting. Keep an unmodified save available and test one change at a time. This is a risk-management practice, not a guarantee that every script is harmless or that every save can be repaired.
- Remove or update the framework before troubleshooting the unmodded game. If a problem appears only with CET installed, first compare behavior with the framework disabled and then consult the current CET documentation for the matching build.
What CET does not establish
- It does not create an official cheat menu for all platforms.
- Its documentation does not make every historical command work on every current build.
- A command example is not a promise of a particular item, money, health, achievement, or save-file result.
- There is no basis here for claiming that a specific command is safe for an existing save or that it preserves every game feature.
For those reasons, use CET as a version-aware modding tool, not as a permanent substitute for the game’s progression systems. If you need a command, locate it on the current documentation page, check its version notes, and copy the syntax exactly.
Weapon “secrets” that are actually documented
The most dependable weapon advantage in the official material is not a hidden code. It is the upgrade loop for Iconic weapons. CD PROJEKT RED’s crafting and upgrading guide says an Iconic weapon can be upgraded to the next Tier from the Crafting menu’s Upgrades tab when the required components are available.

Upgrade an Iconic weapon
- Open the game’s Crafting menu.
- Select the Upgrades tab.
- Choose the Iconic weapon you want to improve.
- Check the displayed component requirement and confirm the next-Tier upgrade only when you are willing to spend those materials.
The menu is the check that matters: if the weapon is not listed as upgradeable or the requirement is red, you do not currently have the needed components. The system is not a free, unlimited stat increase; it is tied to crafting resources and the weapon’s available Tier.
Understand the Tier and component system
The official support article describes item quality from Tier 1 through Tier 5++. Crafting and upgrading use both Crafting Specs and components. Specs can be found as loot or bought from vendors. Components can be found as loot or obtained by disassembling items of the corresponding Tier.

The resource loop
A sensible progression loop is: collect loot, inspect its Tier, keep the weapons and clothing you use, disassemble unwanted items for corresponding components, and revisit Crafting → Upgrades before a difficult mission. Vendor purchases can fill a component or spec gap, but spending indiscriminately can leave you short when an Iconic upgrade becomes available. The game’s official guidance supports this resource relationship; it does not say that every weapon can be upgraded freely or indefinitely.

Choosing weapons without a fabricated “best gun” list
The available official notes do not establish a universal best weapon, numerical damage ranking, or complete location-by-location Iconic walkthrough. A responsible build decision therefore starts with your use case rather than a claimed winner.
- Range and weapon class: decide whether your encounters favor close, medium, or long range, then compare the weapons you actually own at the same Tier.
- Stealth or direct combat: a weapon that fits quiet encounters may not be the best choice when you trigger open combat. Build around the approach you use most often.
- Resource investment: an Iconic upgrade consumes components. Upgrade the item that supports your build instead of spreading scarce materials across gear you rarely equip.
- Platform and version: balance, perks, crafting behavior, and input can differ after major updates, so date-stamped advice is more useful than an undated ranking.
Be cautious with guides that promise an exact damage figure, a guaranteed missable pickup, or a single “best” Iconic location unless they identify the game version and provide evidence for that specific claim. None of those precise claims is established by the official sources used here.
Why older cheat and weapon guides may disagree
Update 2.0 was a systems overhaul, not a small balance patch. It changed perks, cyberware, vehicle combat, police response, rewards, items, and crafting. A guide written before that update may use old menu names, old progression assumptions, or command examples that CET no longer accepts.

Update 2.3 also included gameplay fixes, including a correction for automatic weapons firing slower than intended, alongside its new vehicles, AutoDrive, self-driving Delamain cabs, and Photo Mode additions. That does not establish a new weapon ranking, but it is enough to explain why an older automatic-weapon discussion may not match a current build.
When a walkthrough conflicts with your game, record three details before changing anything: your platform, the exact game version shown by your launcher or system, and whether CET or another mod is active. Then prefer the current official patch notes and support pages for built-in mechanics, and CET’s version-specific documentation for commands.
Do you need Phantom Liberty or the Ultimate Edition?
No. CD PROJEKT RED says Update 2.3 is free to owners of the base game and does not require Phantom Liberty or the Ultimate Edition. It also says you do not need to start a new game to receive the update. If you do not own Cyberpunk 2077, you must purchase the game to access it; the official update page does not establish a particular store’s edition inventory or price.

A practical checklist for a current playthrough
- Identify your platform before following any cheat or command guide.
- Check the installed game version and compare it with the guide’s date.
- Use CET only on PC and only after checking its current compatibility notes.
- Copy CET commands with exact capitalization and avoid relying on pre-2.0 syntax.
- Keep a clean save before experimenting with scripts.
- For an Iconic weapon, open Crafting → Upgrades and verify the component requirement.
- Recover components through loot and disassembly of items of the corresponding Tier; check vendors for specs or needed supplies.
- Do not treat an undated weapon ranking or exact location claim as universal across patches.
The dependable “secret” is version discipline: use the game’s own upgrade interface for weapons, and use CET’s current, case-sensitive documentation for PC commands. Everything else should be treated as platform- and patch-dependent until the relevant official or framework documentation confirms it.
