Yes—but the answer depends on what you mean by “minimal partitioning.” If you mean a Fedora Minimal image, custom disk layouts are still documented through image-builder blueprints. If you mean Databricks table partitioning, it remains available, but Databricks recommends considering liquid clustering first. The title alone does not identify which platform you mean, so the two answers are separate below.
Fedora Minimal: custom disk layouts are supported
Fedora Minimal’s documentation describes a default image with raw GPT partitioning and an ext4 root filesystem mounted at /. For a different layout, define the intended changes in a blueprint and build the image with image-builder. The documented examples include Btrfs subvolumes, LVM, and a DOS partition table. Fedora Minimal’s blueprint guide contains the configuration details and examples.
Choose when to customize
Fedora recommends doing most customization at build time when deployment allows it; that makes the layout part of the image definition. Some work may instead belong at provisioning time: the customization guide lists growing partitions and filesystems to use the available disk space as a provisioning task. See Fedora Minimal’s customization guide for that distinction.

If you mean Databricks tables, custom partitioning is still an option, not a default recommendation for every table. Databricks advises considering liquid clustering first and says most tables below 100 TB do not need partitioning. Its more specific guidance advises against partitioning below 1 TB, recommends liquid clustering for tables from 1 TB to 100 TB, and says partitioning may help at 100 TB or more only after performance is verified. Databricks also recommends at least 1 GB per partition. These are Databricks recommendations, not universal database thresholds. See When to partition tables on Databricks.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What to evaluate before choosing partitions
- Whether the table’s size and query patterns justify static partitions rather than liquid clustering or default ingestion-time clustering.
- Whether the chosen columns match common query predicates and access patterns.
- Whether partitions will be large enough: Databricks recommends at least 1 GB each.
- Whether the partition columns are supported: Databricks requires top-level columns and does not support complex types or nested struct fields as partition columns.
- Whether measured query performance improves enough to justify the operational cost. A poor strategy can hurt performance and require a slow, costly full rewrite.
Which answer applies?
Use the Fedora guidance for operating-system image disk layouts created with Fedora Minimal and image-builder. Use the Databricks guidance for how data in Databricks tables is organized. These are different kinds of partitioning, and the available evidence does not establish which one the question intends.
