The Cuisinart CPK-17A is worth considering if you want one-touch tea temperatures, a 1.7-liter jug and a keep-warm function. There is an important identification issue, however: the official U.S. documentation supplied for this review is for model CPK-17P1, while a Canadian page covers CPK-17C. Those suffixes should not be assumed interchangeable. Read the model label on your kettle or base before applying specifications, ordering parts or relying on warranty terms.
The assessment below separates documented manufacturer features from questions that require hands-on testing. Cuisinart’s pages establish what the P1 model is designed to offer; they do not establish boiling speed, temperature accuracy, noise, durability or superiority over another kettle.
First, confirm which CPK-17 model you own
“CPK-17A” is the model name in this article’s title, but the official U.S. product page available for the PerfecTemp kettle identifies the product as CPK-17P1. Cuisinart Canada separately documents CPK-17C. The materials show a close CPK-17 family relationship, not proof that every suffix is the same product.

Look for the model number on the rating label, the underside of the base, the carton and the manual. Record the complete suffix, voltage information and any revision marking. Use the CPK-17P1 specifications in this review only when your label and accompanying documentation match that model. Do not assume that a CPK-17A, CPK-17P1 and CPK-17C share electrical ratings, controls, manuals or replacement parts.

The U.S. product listing is Cuisinart’s PerfecTemp Cordless Electric Kettle page. The operating details cited here come from the CPK-17P1 instruction and installation sheet. Canadian owners should consult the CPK-17C Canadian product page and the manual supplied with their unit.
What the documented CPK-17P1 offers
For the U.S. CPK-17P1, Cuisinart lists a cordless stainless-steel kettle with a stated capacity of 1.7 liters and a 1500-watt rating. It has six one-touch temperature categories, a 30-minute keep-warm option and a memory function. The feature set is aimed at people who prepare different teas or French press coffee and do not want to select a temperature manually each time.
| Specification or feature | Documented CPK-17P1 detail | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 1.7 liters — Cuisinart product listing accessed 2026 | A relatively large household kettle capacity; the listing does not state usable volume at a particular fill line. |
| Power rating | 1500 watts — Cuisinart product listing accessed 2026 | An electrical input specification, not a measured time-to-boil result. |
| Temperature programs | Six one-touch categories | Presets target common tea styles, French press and boiling water. |
| Keep Warm | 30 minutes | The instruction sheet says it maintains the selected temperature for 30 minutes on the documented model. |
| Memory function | Removal from the base for up to two minutes | You can briefly lift the kettle without immediately losing the selected setting, according to the product listing. |
| Construction and handling | Stainless-steel body, blue backlit water window, 360-degree swivel connector, stay-cool nonslip handle | These are listed design features; comfort and balance still depend on your individual unit and use. |
| Heating and filtration | Concealed heating element and removable, cleanable scale filter | The element is beneath the interior surface, and the filter can be removed for cleaning. |
| Protection | Automatic shutoff and boil-dry protection | These are safety functions specified by Cuisinart, not a substitute for supervision or correct filling. |
| Materials | BPA-free construction | A manufacturer material claim for the listed model. |
| Warranty | Limited three-year warranty on the U.S. P1 listing | Coverage depends on model, country, purchaser status and the warranty terms in force when you bought the kettle. |
Which temperatures does the PerfecTemp kettle use?
The CPK-17P1 instruction sheet assigns a target temperature to each button. The names and temperatures below describe that documented revision; check the manual that came with your CPK-17A before assuming its controls are identical.

|---|---|---|
| Delicate Tea | 160°F | Lower-temperature brewing for delicate teas. |
| Green Tea | 175°F | A moderate setting intended for green tea. |
| Oolong Tea | 185°F | An intermediate setting for oolong tea. |
| White Tea | 190°F | A higher tea-brewing setting than the delicate and green programs. |
| French Press | 200°F | A coffee-oriented setting below the boiling program. |
| Black Tea/Boil | 212°F | The boiling-water selection listed by the instruction sheet. |
These are programmed targets, not an independently measured accuracy report. The supplied materials do not document how closely a particular kettle reaches each number, how much the temperature varies during a pour or how the reading changes with altitude, starting-water temperature or load size.
How the controls and convenience features fit together
One-touch temperature selection
The six categories are designed to avoid repeated manual adjustment. Choose the category that matches your beverage rather than treating the buttons as a laboratory-grade temperature controller. Tea recommendations vary by leaf, processing and personal taste, so a preset is a convenient starting point, not a guarantee of an ideal cup.

Keep Warm
When enabled on the documented P1 model, Keep Warm maintains the selected temperature for 30 minutes. The instruction sheet uses the exact functional wording “maintains the selected temperature for 30 minutes.” This is useful when you prepare a pot, pause between cups or need hot water while setting up a French press. It is not a claim that the kettle can hold temperature indefinitely or that the water remains at the target after the period ends.
Two-minute memory
The product listing says the memory feature allows the kettle to be removed from its base for up to two minutes without losing the selected setting. That matters when you need to pour at a counter away from the outlet or reposition the kettle. It should not be interpreted as cordless heating: the kettle still needs its powered base to heat or maintain water.
Water-window and swivel-base design
A blue backlit water window is listed for checking the fill level, and the 360-degree swivel connector allows the jug to sit on the base from different angles. The stay-cool nonslip handle is intended to improve handling. Cuisinart does not provide a measured handle temperature, grip-force result or balance test in the supplied materials, so inspect the actual unit if those details are decisive for you.
Capacity and power: what the numbers do and do not tell you
A 1.7-liter vessel suits multiple mugs or a larger press, while the cordless format keeps the pouring jug separate from the electrical connection. The listing does not establish how much water is practical to pour at once, whether the maximum mark is exactly 1.7 liters under every revision or how much water remains below the minimum line. Follow the markings on your own kettle and never fill above its maximum indicator.
The 1500-watt figure describes the heater’s rated electrical input. It does not prove a particular boil time. Boiling speed depends on starting temperature, water volume, mains voltage, altitude and the kettle’s control behavior. No documented, dated performance test was supplied for CPK-17A or CPK-17P1, so a claim that this model boils faster, quieter or more efficiently than another kettle would go beyond the available evidence.

Safety features and sensible operating habits
Automatic shutoff and boil-dry protection are listed for the CPK-17P1. Automatic shutoff is intended to stop heating after the programmed cycle, while boil-dry protection is intended to protect against operation with insufficient water. The manufacturer’s feature list does not describe every trigger condition or recovery procedure.
- Keep the water between the kettle’s minimum and maximum marks.
- Keep the base and connector dry, and place the base on a stable, level surface.
- Use the handle rather than touching the stainless-steel body immediately after heating.
- Do not treat boil-dry protection as permission to run the kettle empty.
- Unplug the base before cleaning it and follow the exact safety instructions in your revision’s manual.
These habits reduce foreseeable handling risks, but they do not replace the warnings printed in the supplied instruction sheet.
A practical setup and brewing workflow
The following workflow uses only the documented controls and is intended for a matching CPK-17P1-style unit. If your CPK-17A has different buttons or indicators, use its own manual instead.
- Verify the identity. Read the rating label and confirm the manual corresponds to the full model suffix and your country’s voltage.
- Fill to the required level. Add cold water within the marked range. Select less than the maximum when you need only one or two cups.
- Seat the kettle. Place the jug on the 360-degree base connector so it is stable before selecting a program.
- Choose a preset. Press the category that matches your beverage: Delicate Tea, Green Tea, Oolong Tea, White Tea, French Press or Black Tea/Boil.
- Use Keep Warm only when needed. Enable it if you expect a pause and want the selected target maintained during the documented 30-minute window.
- Pour with the handle. Lift the kettle by its stay-cool nonslip handle. The memory feature is relevant if you remove it from the base briefly, for no more than the stated two-minute period.
- Finish safely. Return the kettle to the base only when it is stable, and follow the manual’s instructions for emptying, cooling and storage.
Cleaning, scale control and replacement parts
The P1 listing identifies a removable, cleanable scale filter and a concealed heating element. The filter is the component intended to catch loose scale as water is poured; remove and clean it according to the instruction sheet for your exact revision. A concealed element keeps the heating surface out of direct contact with the water, but it does not eliminate mineral deposits elsewhere inside the vessel.
The supplied materials do not specify a universal descaling chemical, concentration, interval or dishwasher rating. Water hardness varies, so use the cleaning method and frequency in your manual rather than importing a recipe from another kettle. Do not immerse the electrical base, and do not use abrasive tools that could damage the finish or filter.

Cuisinart’s U.S. listing includes a replacement base and a scale filter. That confirms those parts are offered for the listed product, not that they fit every CPK-17 suffix. Before ordering, provide Cuisinart or the authorized parts seller with the complete model number, revision and any part number printed on your component.
Warranty and regional differences
The U.S. CPK-17P1 listing states a limited three-year warranty. Cuisinart Canada’s CPK-17C material also describes a limited three-year warranty, but regional coverage, proof-of-purchase rules, service locations and exclusions can differ. A CPK-17A bought in another country may have different terms.
Save the receipt, photograph the model and rating labels, and check the warranty document packaged with your kettle. Contact the service channel for the country where you purchased it before shipping a unit or buying a replacement base. A warranty term alone does not establish that a particular suffix is supported in another market.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the CPK-17A worth buying?
The answer depends on whether the documented feature set matches your routine. It is a sensible candidate when you specifically want preset temperature buttons, a larger household capacity, a half-hour temperature-holding period and a cordless jug. Those conveniences can matter more than a basic kettle’s lower complexity if you regularly switch between tea styles and French press coffee.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBe more cautious if you need verified temperature accuracy, a published boil-time benchmark, unusually quiet operation, a very compact footprint or guaranteed cross-border parts availability. None of those claims is established by the supplied manufacturer material. The right buying decision also depends on whether the exact CPK-17A listing in front of you matches the P1-style controls described here.

How to compare it with another kettle
Do not compare only wattage or the number of buttons. Use the same practical criteria for both products and record the source and model suffix for every figure.
| Comparison axis | Question to ask | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Temperature choices | How many fixed targets are available, and are the labels in Fahrenheit, Celsius or both? | Presets are useful only when they match your beverages and local conventions. |
| Capacity | What are the minimum and maximum fill marks? | Nominal capacity does not tell you how much water is comfortable to pour or heat for a single cup. |
| Power | What wattage and voltage does the exact regional model use? | A rating must match your outlet and should not be treated as a speed guarantee. |
| Temperature holding | How long does Keep Warm operate, and at what target? | A short, documented hold period can be useful; a longer claim needs clear conditions. |
| Handling | Is the jug cordless, and can it sit on the base from multiple angles? | These details affect counter placement and pouring convenience. |
| Safety | Are automatic shutoff and boil-dry protection specified? | They are important safeguards, although they do not replace supervision. |
| Cleaning | Can the scale filter be removed, and are cleaning instructions available? | Mineral buildup is a maintenance issue, especially with hard water. |
| Service | Does the warranty apply in your country, and are parts listed for your suffix? | Regional support can matter more than a small difference in purchase price. |
The available sources do not establish a current, like-for-like comparison with a named competing kettle, so this review does not label the CPK-17A the best or the best value.
Who should choose it, and who should look elsewhere?
Good fit
- Tea drinkers who want dedicated buttons instead of manually estimating water temperature.
- French press users who prefer a repeatable starting target below the boiling program.
- Households that benefit from a 1.7-liter jug and a 30-minute hold period.
- People who value a cordless kettle, swivel base, illuminated water window and removable scale filter.
Reasons to pause
- Your seller cannot show the full model suffix or a matching manual.
- You need independent evidence of temperature precision, speed, noise or long-term reliability.
- You require replacement parts that are guaranteed to fit a CPK-17A, but the listing identifies only CPK-17P1 or CPK-17C.
- Your country’s voltage, plug or warranty terms are unclear.
What is not established by the available documentation
No official recall database result or regulator notice specific to CPK-17A was included in the available material. That means this review cannot confirm either that a recall exists or that none exists. Check the relevant consumer-safety authority and Cuisinart service channel for your country if recall status is a deciding factor.
Recommended Free Tools
Likewise, there is no independently published, dated statistic here for boiling time, temperature accuracy, energy consumption, sound level, failure rate or service life. The numeric values in this article are manufacturer specifications for the documented listing, not laboratory findings. Treat user reviews and retailer listings as additional evidence to verify separately, especially when they omit the model suffix.
Buying checklist for a CPK-17A listing
- Zoom in on the seller’s photographs and locate the model number on the base or rating label.
- Confirm that the voltage and plug match your electrical system.
- Ask for the manual or button layout if the listing does not show it.
- Match the listed capacity, wattage, presets and warranty to the documentation for that exact suffix.
- Check whether the seller accepts returns if the delivered unit has a different suffix.
- Before ordering a replacement base or filter, verify the part number against the full model and revision.
- Keep your receipt and model-label photos for warranty or service requests.
Verdict
The Cuisinart CPK-17 family’s appeal is straightforward: one-touch temperature selection, a large cordless jug, a documented 30-minute Keep Warm function and useful handling and safety features. On the evidence available, those are reasons to consider a correctly identified unit, not proof of exceptional speed, accuracy or durability.
Buy with confidence only after confirming whether the kettle is actually CPK-17A, CPK-17P1 or CPK-17C and checking the manual, voltage, warranty and parts support for that exact revision. If the model identity matches and preset temperatures solve a real part of your routine, the feature set is well aligned with tea and French press use. If model ambiguity or independently verified performance is more important, postpone the purchase until those points are documented.
