The publicly visible evidence confirms its identity and several specifications, but not a complete performance verdict: CHOICE places its detailed scores and test results behind member access. Availability is also a problem, because the model is listed as discontinued, sold out or unavailable by the sources that identify it.
The most important buying caution is the oven rating. CHOICE lists 260°C, while two matching retailer descriptions list 220°C. Until an official document for model 47181 resolves that discrepancy, treat the lower figure as the safer ceiling and do not assume either number is definitive.
What exactly is Cuisinart model 47181?
Model 47181 is the Cuisinart Chef’s iA+ 26 cm non-stick fry pan. CHOICE identifies it as a non-stick pan and marks it as discontinued. A Grays Australia listing names it “Cuisinart Chef’s iA+ Non Stick 26cm Fry Pan,” and Well Cooked lists a “Chef iA+ Frypan 26cm” with product code 47181. Those matching names and codes establish that these listings refer to the same cookware model rather than similarly named pans.

The “26 cm” designation is the product size used in the listings, normally referring to the pan’s nominal rim diameter. CHOICE separately reports a measured base diameter of 19.5 cm, so the area that sits directly over the heat is substantially smaller than the headline diameter. That distinction matters when you are judging how many food portions will fit without crowding.

Is the 47181 still available?
Do not treat the 47181 as a current, routinely stocked product. CHOICE labels it discontinued. The Grays listing says sold out, and Well Cooked marks its matching listing unavailable. These are historical retail statuses rather than a live inventory check, so they cannot prove that every market has zero remaining stock; they do show that normal new-product availability should not be assumed.
If you find a listing, verify the model number before paying. Search results can mix the 26 cm Chef’s iA+ pan with other Cuisinart cookware, replacement listings or unrelated “iA+” products. Ask the seller to confirm model 47181 on the packaging, base marking or original paperwork, and check the actual dispatch location and return policy. A listing that uses only a product photograph or the words “Cuisinart 26 cm” is not enough to establish an exact match.

What the 26 cm size means in practice
A 26 cm frying pan is a versatile everyday size for tasks such as frying several eggs, cooking a couple of steaks, browning ingredients for a small household or making a compact one-pan meal. The 19.5 cm measured base is the more useful number for heat-zone planning. On a small electric or induction zone, it should be easier to match the pan’s base than a larger skillet, but the rim still extends beyond that heated area.
The 1.2 kg listed weight is moderate for a 26 cm pan before food is added. It should be manageable for tossing or lifting, yet heavy enough that one-handed handling becomes less comfortable when the pan is full. Because no handle length, balance measurement or empty-pan center of gravity is published, those aspects cannot be judged from the specification sheet.
The 0.45 cm base-thickness figure is a dimensional measurement, not a direct promise of even heating. Heat distribution also depends on the construction of the induction plate or encapsulated base, burner size, temperature control and how flat the pan remains. Construction and non-stick coating
Hard-anodised aluminium body
CHOICE identifies a hard-anodised aluminium body, while the retailer descriptions refer to a professional-gauge aluminium core inside a hard-anodised exterior. Aluminium is valued for relatively quick heat response and lower weight than many thick stainless-steel designs. Hard anodising is a surface-treatment description; it does not by itself establish how long the cooking surface will remain non-stick under your particular heat and utensil habits.
Whitford Quantanium interior
Grays and Well Cooked describe a three-layer, PFOA-free Whitford Quantanium non-stick interior. Those statements identify the coating system described by the sellers. They are not a published abrasion test, food-release score or service-life guarantee. Avoid turning the coating name into a durability ranking against other pans because no comparative test result is publicly available here.

Stainless-steel handle
The stainless-steel handle should tolerate higher temperatures than a plastic or silicone handle, but handle material alone does not settle the pan’s oven limit. The attachment method, any internal components and the coating’s temperature tolerance all matter. Use the model-specific limit once it is verified, rather than inferring a safe temperature from the handle’s appearance.
The oven-temperature conflict
This is the clearest unresolved specification. CHOICE’s public product information lists an oven limit of 260°C. Grays and Well Cooked both state 220°C for the matching model. The difference is large enough to affect roasting, finishing under a grill and high-temperature searing.
No model-specific Cuisinart manual for 47181 was identified in the available official-manual pages. Therefore, neither 220°C nor 260°C can be presented as a confirmed manufacturer limit. If you already own the pan and cannot obtain original documentation, the conservative approach is to stay at or below 220°C, avoid broiler or grill settings unless the documentation explicitly permits them, and remember that an oven’s displayed temperature may not equal the temperature at the pan’s handle or rim.

Do not use the higher CHOICE figure to override a lower instruction printed on your own packaging. Conversely, do not assume a retailer’s 220°C statement is authoritative if Cuisinart supplied a later, exact-model document. Record the source, model number and date whenever you verify the rating, because retailer pages for discontinued cookware can be copied or edited.
Cooktop compatibility
The Grays description says the pan is induction-ready and suitable for gas, electric, glass ceramic, halogen, oven, grill and induction cooking. Well Cooked also describes it as oven-safe to 220°C. These are retailer specifications, not independent compatibility testing.
For induction, check the base for a clear induction symbol or test it with a magnet if the seller permits inspection. A magnet test can indicate a magnetic layer but cannot confirm that the pan will heat evenly on your particular hob. On radiant glass, electric coil or gas, select a burner close to the 19.5 cm base rather than a much larger flame or element. Oversized heat can discolor the exterior, stress the coating and waste energy.
Dishwasher use and sensible care
The pan is listed as dishwasher-safe, but CHOICE warns that dishwashing can cause damage over time. That warning is especially relevant to a discontinued non-stick pan for which replacement parts or warranty support may be difficult to obtain.

- Let the pan cool before washing; placing a hot pan under cold water can cause thermal shock and distortion.
- Use warm water, mild detergent and a soft sponge rather than abrasive powder, scouring pads or steel wool.
- Dry the pan completely before storing it to prevent moisture collecting around fasteners or stacked cookware.
- Use wood, silicone or heat-resistant plastic utensils. Metal edges can score a non-stick surface even when a coating is advertised as durable.
- Keep cooking heat moderate unless the exact instructions permit higher temperatures. Empty-pan overheating is more damaging than normal food cooking.
- If stacking pans, place a soft separator between them so the upper pan does not scrape the cooking surface.
These are conservative non-stick-care practices, not a substitute for the original Cuisinart instructions. If those instructions conflict with a general care rule, follow the exact model documentation.
What CHOICE’s review does—and does not—establish
CHOICE identifies an expert review for the 47181, but the public page restricts the Expert Rating, performance score, durability score, ease-of-use score and detailed test results to members. The visible page therefore confirms that testing was part of CHOICE’s review program without revealing the numerical outcome or comparative ranking.
It would be inaccurate to call the pan a proven high performer, a poor performer or a best buy based only on the existence of that review. The construction details support a reasonable expectation of a relatively responsive, lighter pan with a non-stick cooking surface, but expectations are not test results. The hard-anodised aluminium body may appeal if you prioritize lower weight and quick response. The 1.2 kg listed weight may be less attractive if you prefer a very heavy pan for heat retention. Neither preference predicts how evenly this particular pan cooks.
The 26 cm rim and 19.5 cm base also create a trade-off: the pan offers useful surface around the edge for turning or containing food, while the central heated zone is smaller. Keep food in a single layer over the active base when browning. Crowding the pan or placing cold ingredients across the unheated rim can reduce browning regardless of coating quality.

Checklist for buying a used or old-stock 47181
Because the model is discontinued or unavailable in the cited listings, any remaining units may be old stock or second-hand. Inspect the following before purchase:
- Exact identity: confirm “47181” and the Chef’s iA+ 26 cm description, not just a generic Cuisinart label.
- Cooking surface: reject deep scratches, exposed metal, bubbling, peeling, flaking or widespread dull patches. Non-stick damage can worsen quickly once the substrate is exposed.
