To get a pet chicken in Counter-Strike 2, earn your Weekly Care Package and check whether a Chicken Egg is one of its reward choices. It is reported as a possible option, not a guaranteed reward, and claiming it reportedly uses both weekly reward selections. Check the egg’s status in the main-menu interface; the reported hatch time is about a week, but Valve has not confirmed a universal timer or fully documented the pet system.

How to get a Chicken Egg in CS2

  1. Earn the eligible Weekly Care Package reward.
  2. Review the available reward choices and look for a Chicken Egg. Its appearance is not guaranteed.
  3. Before claiming it, weigh the egg against the other available rewards. Contemporary guides report that selecting the egg uses both weekly reward selections.
  4. After claiming it, check the main menu, where the egg is reported to appear beside your agent. Use the in-game status information to follow its progress.

The egg and Chicken Feed are both reported as Weekly Care Package items. Since the reward choices are limited and feed may be needed later, consider the longer-term tradeoff rather than treating the egg as a free extra. No reliable drop probability or universal reward schedule has been established. CSDelta’s guide and CS2 Labs’ guide describe the reported mechanics; neither is official Valve documentation.

How hatching and growth work

Reported development follows four stages: egg, chick, pullet, and hen. The hatch is estimated at about a week, but that is a reported approximation, not a guaranteed countdown. Check the egg’s own in-game status instead of relying on a timer from a third-party guide.

The pullet stage is reported to be when the chicken can accompany you in certain lobby situations, such as a hosted lobby or solo queue. That does not establish that it will appear in every match type. These details come from contemporary player guides, including the Steam Community overview; Valve has not published a full explanation of the pet system.

How to feed a CS2 chicken

Chicken Feed is a separate in-game item reportedly offered through Weekly Care Packages. Feeding is described as necessary for progression, and sources report that a pet may leave if it runs out of food. The available information does not establish a dependable universal feeding interval, exact amount, or timetable for later growth stages.

  • Watch the pet’s in-game hunger or food warning and respond to the status shown there.
  • Check your next Weekly Care Package choices for Chicken Feed; do not assume it will be available on a fixed schedule.
  • Distinguish hunger from age-related end of life: the reported game messages treat them as separate situations.

Breeds and appearance

Three adult breeds are reported: Catalana, Silkie, and Polish. Contemporary descriptions characterize them broadly as a single-comb chicken, a fluffy bird, and a crested bird, respectively. The adult appearance becomes clearer as the bird matures, so the shell’s appearance should not be treated as a reliable breed preview.

There is no dependable official total for color or texture variants. Sources count them differently: one reports 42 designs including the default chick, while a game-data database lists named colorways in its current build. Those are file- or classification-based counts, not published odds of receiving a particular appearance. For context, the unofficial cs2.gs pet database presents build-derived data, not a Valve statement or a probability table.

How long does a CS2 chicken live?

An unofficial game-data database includes a distinct age-related end-of-life message, separate from messages for hunger and an egg that has not hatched. This supports the conclusion that an age-related ending is part of the reported system, but it does not establish how many days, weeks, or months a chicken lives. No exact lifespan should be treated as confirmed.

What to know before choosing the egg

  • The egg is a possible Weekly Care Package choice, not a guaranteed reward.
  • Claiming it reportedly uses both weekly reward selections, and Chicken Feed is also reported to come through the reward system.
  • Hatching is estimated at about a week; follow the in-game status rather than assuming an exact timer.
  • Progression is reported as egg, chick, pullet, then hen; feeding is needed for progression.
  • The reported adult breeds are Catalana, Silkie, and Polish, while variant counts vary by source and counting method.
  • An age-related ending is reported, but no precise lifespan has been established.
