The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has accepted final implementation reports for two Broadband Fund projects: Rogers Communications Canada Inc.’s transport-fibre build in Bruce Station, Ontario, and TELUS Communications Inc.’s access and mobile project along Highway 20 in central British Columbia. Telecom Order 2026-267, issued October 9, 2026, says both recipients demonstrated that construction was complete and that broadband services were being offered using the funded infrastructure.
What the CRTC confirmed
The order closes the reporting stage for both projects. CRTC approval of a final implementation report means the Commission reviewed the recipient’s evidence and accepted that the funded infrastructure had been completed and put into service. The order’s finding is specific: “The Commission considers that the recipients have demonstrated that the projects are complete and that broadband services are being offered using the funded infrastructure.”
That finding does not mean every address in a project area automatically has an active retail subscription. Individual availability can depend on the premises, the provider’s network design and the service options offered locally. It does establish that the CRTC accepted the projects as operational for Broadband Fund purposes.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Transport fibre is the network infrastructure that carries traffic between access networks and larger network points. In this project, the funded build was recorded as complete rather than as a retail-speed or pricing program. The CRTC’s decision confirms the infrastructure was finished and broadband service was being offered over it.
Which B.C. communities did TELUS connect?
TELUS’ completed British Columbia project covers a central-interior and Highway 20 access and mobile build. The final order names 17 communities and locations:

The CRTC table lists 751 households and 119 kilometres of roads for this project. TELUS reported completion on August 27, 2026. The project description combines access and mobile elements, so the table’s road figure should not be read as a claim that every kilometre has the same fixed-line service or that all households receive identical offerings.
Rogers and TELUS projects compared
| CRTC project entry | Province and area | Infrastructure description | Completion date | Reported reach |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rogers Communications Canada Inc. | Bruce Station, Ontario | Transport fibre | July 17, 2026 | 330 households; 1.8 km |
| TELUS Communications Inc. | Central British Columbia, including Highway 20 communities | Access and mobile | August 27, 2026 | 751 households; 119 km of roads |
The two entries are not directly comparable on network design. Rogers’ figure is a short transport-fibre project measured in kilometres of fibre, while the TELUS entry is a much longer access and mobile project reported in road kilometres and households. Neither project’s CRTC completion record establishes retail prices, advertised speeds, data caps or installation charges.

- NIGHTHAWK WIFI 6 ROUTER FOR YOUR WHOLE HOME: Delivers fast, reliable WiFi across every room of your apartment or small home for streaming, gaming, video calls, and smart home devices, all running at the same time without slowing each other down.
- WORKS WITH YOUR EXISTING INTERNET SERVICE: Pairs with your existing modem or gateway via ethernet. Compatible with most cable, fiber, DSL, and satellite providers. Some gateways and modem router combos may require bridge mode. No coax needed.
- SET UP AND MANAGE YOUR NETWORK WITH THE NIGHTHAWK APP: Download the free Nighthawk app on iOS or Android for guided setup. Manage WiFi, run speed tests, pause devices, and set up guest networks from anywhere. Active internet required.
- READY FOR THE DEVICES YOU ALREADY OWN: Your phones, laptops, and TVs work right out of the box. WiFi 6 delivers speeds up to 1.8 Gbps across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Backward compatible with WiFi 5 and earlier.
- COVERAGE IN EVERY ROOM: Covers up to 1,500 sq. ft. for up to 20 connected devices. Walls, floors, and interference can reduce range. Larger or multi-story homes may benefit from a NETGEAR Orbi mesh WiFi system.
When did the CRTC confirm completion?
The formal confirmation came in Telecom Order 2026-267 on October 9, 2026. The order approved the final implementation reports after reviewing evidence that the projects were complete and that funded broadband services were being delivered. The project completion dates—July 17 for Rogers and August 27 for TELUS—predate the Commission’s approval of the reports.
What this adds to the national Broadband Fund picture
A CRTC snapshot updated October 13, 2026, records 31 completed projects, 149 communities served, 26,479 households served and 934 kilometres of fibre transport infrastructure. Those figures describe the broader set of completed Broadband Fund projects, not just the two entries in Telecom Order 2026-267.

The snapshot’s totals also use different measures: communities, households and fibre-transport kilometres. They should not be added together as if they represented one single population or a uniform type of network. The Rogers and TELUS entries contribute to the Commission’s overall record of completed projects while retaining their own project-specific scope.

For the CRTC, “completed” means the recipient met the project obligations evidenced in its final implementation report, and the Commission found that broadband services were being offered using the funded infrastructure. A resident still needs to check service at the exact address with the provider serving the community. Availability can vary between homes, businesses, road segments and mobile coverage areas, particularly in rural territories with long distances between premises.
Best Value
- Dual band router upgrades to 1200 Mbps high speed internet (300mbps for 2.4GHz plus 900Mbps for 5GHz), reducing buffering and ideal for 4K stream
- Full Gigabit Ports - Gigabit Router with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, ideal for any internet plan and allow you to directly connect your wired devices
- Boosted Coverage - Four external antennas equipped with Beamforming technology extend and concentrate the Wi-Fi signals
- MU-MIMO technology - (5GHz band) allows high speeds for multiple devices simultaneously
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
Residents in Bruce Station can ask the local provider whether the transport-fibre build supports an order at their address. People in the named Highway 20 communities should ask TELUS which access or mobile services are offered at their specific location, along with installation requirements and current terms. The CRTC order itself does not publish a retail service catalogue.
Why the confirmation matters
Final-report approval provides a public accountability checkpoint for subsidized broadband construction. It records that the Commission did not merely authorize funding: it later accepted evidence of completion and operational service. For communities that have waited for funded infrastructure, the order is a formal status update; for anyone checking service, the remaining question is address-level availability rather than whether the CRTC considers the projects complete.
