The Crock-Pot Lift & Serve CHP450 is a discontinued 5.7 L oval slow cooker with a hinged glass lid and simple Off, Low, High and Keep Warm controls. Its manual and product specifications make the design and care requirements clear, but the publicly available review does not reveal the expert score or cooking-test results. That means its documented features can be assessed; its cooking performance cannot be fairly scored from public evidence.
Which CHP450 is this review about?
This is the Australian/New Zealand CHP450, not the separate US CPSCVO45HL-BP 4.5-quart model or the Australian CHP550. Similar Lift & Serve branding does not make those models’ specifications applicable to the CHP450.
CHOICE lists the CHP450 as discontinued. Its review page records a claimed 5.7 L capacity, an oval ceramic cooking bowl, a product weight of 5.2 kg and dimensions of 22 × 41 × 33 cm (H × W × D). The page also lists China as the country of origin and a one-year warranty; that warranty listing is not a promise of coverage for a second-hand unit today. CHOICE’s CHP450 review and specifications
What are the controls and design like?
The CHP450 user guide describes a removable ceramic crock, glass lid with a hinge mechanism, wrap-around heating element, temperature indicator and four settings: Off, Low, High and Keep Warm. The hinged lid is intended to make access and serving easier than handling a fully removable lid, while the removable crock separates the cooking vessel from the heating base. These are design features, not evidence of faster cooking or better results.

The manual specifies a maximum food capacity of 1.3 kg for a whole piece of meat. The nominal 5.7 L capacity is not the safe usable fill limit for every recipe; follow the guide’s filling and food-safety instructions for the food being cooked. CHP450 user guide
How well does the CHP450 cook?
A complete performance verdict is not possible from the public evidence. CHOICE’s page identifies the review author and indicates that the expert rating, Low and High cooking results, ease-of-use score and end-of-cook temperatures are member-only. Without those results, there is no sound basis to claim a particular cooking speed, temperature consistency or advantage over another slow cooker. Ratings for newer Lift & Serve models cannot fill that gap.

What does the manual say about cleaning and safety?
The CHP450 guide states that the removable crock and glass lid are dishwasher-safe and that the crock is oven-safe. It also warns that sudden temperature changes can damage the glass lid or ceramic crock. Use the model-specific manual for care and handling rather than assuming that newer slow cookers share the same limits.

Because the model is discontinued, its current availability, condition, service support and replacement-part supply need to be checked at the point of purchase. No current inventory or exact compatible lid or crock was established. Do not assume a generic Crock-Pot part fits; confirm compatibility for CHP450 with the seller or manufacturer before buying.

For a replacement, compare the appliance’s actual specifications rather than relying on a shared name. Useful checks include:
- Usable capacity and whether it suits the household’s usual meals.
- Manual controls versus programmable settings, and whether Keep Warm starts automatically.
- Hinged or removable lid design and how convenient it is for serving.
- Overall footprint, crock material and the model’s dishwasher or oven-care instructions.
- Warranty, service and parts availability in the country where it will be used.
The CHP550 is a different Australian/New Zealand model: its product page describes a 4.7 L cooker with digital controls, a 20-hour timer, automatic Keep Warm and a 12-month replacement warranty.
