If Crimson Desert freezes when you open a menu or select a map region’s Details view, start by updating the game and checking Pearl Abyss’s current notices. On PC, then verify the game files, update your graphics driver, and test for software conflicts. These steps can address common causes, but Pearl Abyss has not confirmed one universal cause or fix for this exact symptom.
Start with the game update and official notices
Check Pearl Abyss’s support guidance and the announcements for your platform. The company advises checking its known issues, FAQ, and announcements because a problem may already have been resolved. The exact status of menu and Details-view freezes can change, so confirm the current notice and installed version rather than assuming the symptom is either still open or fixed.
Make sure the game has installed any available update. PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic Games Store can download updates automatically when that option is enabled; otherwise, check the game’s library page and install updates manually.

Pearl Abyss has documented several nearby issues, but the notes describe specific defects rather than a confirmed fix for every menu or map freeze.

- Version 2.01.00, September 3, 2026: fixed a camera view obstructed by terrain after selecting Details for certain map regions. This addresses a map-view problem, not a stated general freeze fix.
- Version 1.18.01, August 16, 2026: fixed a delayed NPC interaction menu when the lantern was lit, unexpected closing after launch in certain situations, and an incorrect map-area display.
- Version 1.16.02, August 2026: fixed persistent loading screens or black screens when loading save data in certain circumstances. It also lists separate graphics and Mac issues.
- Version 2.03.00, September 17, 2026: included general bug fixes and stability improvements, including UI text fixes. The notes do not identify all menu freezes as fixed.
- Version 2.03.01, September 21, 2026: fixed a conditional NPC-interaction crash.
These notes are useful when your symptom matches the specific behavior described, but they do not establish that an unrelated menu or Details-view freeze is resolved. On PC, verify the installation and update the graphics driver
Damaged or incomplete files and outdated graphics drivers are worth checking before attempting a reinstall. Pearl Abyss recommends verifying PC files and keeping graphics drivers current.

- Steam: Open Library, right-click Crimson Desert, select Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Wait for verification to finish, then relaunch the game.
- Epic Games Store: Open Library, select the three dots beside the game, choose Manage → Verify, and wait for the process to complete.
- Graphics driver: Install the current driver for your graphics card from its manufacturer, then restart the PC and test the same menu or map action that caused the freeze.
Check whether background software is interfering
Pearl Abyss says antivirus, VPN, anti-spyware, firewall, other security applications, and recording or broadcasting software can interfere with launching, performance, or stability. If the freeze continues, test for a conflict by temporarily disabling or removing one suspected application at a time, then relaunch the game and repeat the same action. Restore protection and settings after the test.

Change security settings cautiously: do not leave antivirus or firewall protection disabled as a permanent workaround, and avoid disabling several applications at once because that makes the cause harder to identify.

Check PC requirements without treating them as a diagnosis
Pearl Abyss lists the following Windows PC specifications in its support notice, updated July 6, 2026:

These are general game requirements, not a diagnosis of a menu freeze. Meeting them does not rule out a driver, file, background-software, or game defect, and the listed SSD requirement is not evidence that buying a different drive will fix this symptom.

Reinstall only after backing up saves
If updating, verification, and conflict checks do not help, Pearl Abyss suggests a clean install. Back up your save files first. Its support notice gives this PC save location: C:Users[USER NAME]AppDataLocalPearl AbyssCDsave. Replace [USER NAME] with your Windows account folder name. Keep the backup somewhere outside the game’s installation and save folders before uninstalling.

Send Pearl Abyss the information needed to investigate
If the freeze persists after troubleshooting, use Pearl Abyss’s PERS tool to send the available error dumps, logs, screenshots, save data, and hardware specifications. Then submit the issue form and include the PERS Unique ID so support can associate the report with those files. Pearl Abyss says that save or log files help it analyze an issue more thoroughly and accurately. Its “Before submitting your report” notice was updated July 6, 2026.
