Credo Technology and Astera Labs both sell connectivity products for AI and data-center systems, but they are not interchangeable. Credo’s disclosed portfolio centers on electrical and optical interconnects—including active electrical cables, transceivers, DSPs, retimers, and memory connectivity. Astera Labs presents a broader standards-based connectivity platform spanning PCIe, CXL, Ethernet, UALink, and NVLink Fusion, with COSMOS software and fabric switching as part of its offering. Their products overlap in signal conditioning and high-speed links, while their portfolio emphasis differs.
The recent financial figures also require care: Credo reported a full fiscal year, while Astera’s cited result is for one quarter. Those numbers help describe the companies’ reported business results, but they are not a same-period comparison and do not establish which company has better products, more market share, or a more attractive stock.
What each company makes
Both companies target the infrastructure that connects processors, accelerators, memory, and other components inside data centers. Their products address the need to move data across high-speed links, but the companies describe their portfolios at different levels: Credo emphasizes specific electrical, optical, and memory-connectivity product families; Astera Labs markets an integrated platform organized around several interconnect standards and product categories.
That distinction is useful when asking, “How do Credo Technology and Astera Labs compare?” The short answer is that they have genuine overlap in connectivity for AI and data-center infrastructure, but their published product descriptions are not mirror images. Credo’s list makes cables, transceivers, signal-processing products, retimers, and memory solutions prominent. Astera describes a platform spanning several standards, supported by software, and including fabric switching. A comparison should therefore examine what each company says it sells rather than assume that every product is a direct substitute for one from the other company.

Credo Technology: electrical, optical, and memory connectivity
Credo’s Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended May 2, 2026 lists ZeroFlap active electrical cables (AECs), ZeroFlap optical transceivers, OmniConnect memory solutions, retimers, optical and copper Ethernet and PCIe digital signal processors (DSPs), and SerDes chiplets and intellectual property. Credo positions these products for high-speed electrical and optical connectivity in AI and broader data-infrastructure systems. The company identifies power efficiency, reliability, and high-speed connectivity as customer needs; these are company-described priorities, not independently verified performance comparisons.
The portfolio covers several kinds of connectivity products rather than a single chip category. The AEC and optical-transceiver families point to cable and optical-link offerings; the retimers and DSPs are signal-conditioning or signal-processing products identified in Credo’s disclosure; and the SerDes chiplets and IP add another element to its connectivity portfolio. OmniConnect is the company’s named memory-solutions family. The filing names these product areas, but Credo’s disclosure here does not quantify their respective contributions to revenue, specify customer deployments, or provide a product-by-product performance ranking.
Credo also describes PILOT, diagnostic and analytics software associated with link monitoring and system operation. It is part of the company’s product story, but Credo’s company material here does not establish that PILOT and Astera’s software have been compared head to head. Nor does the description quantify software revenue, explain how customers use it relative to other tools, or show that it gives Credo an advantage over a competitor. The grounded point is narrower: Credo identifies PILOT as diagnostic and analytics software tied to its connectivity products.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCredo’s emphasis on both electrical and optical connectivity matters to the comparison because its portfolio description extends beyond one medium. Its disclosure includes copper and optical Ethernet and PCIe DSPs, as well as active electrical cables and optical transceivers. It also includes memory connectivity through OmniConnect. These are concrete product-family distinctions; they do not, by themselves, tell a reader which medium is preferred in a particular deployment or how often a customer buys one product instead of another.
Astera Labs: a standards-based platform and fabric switching
Astera Labs describes its Intelligent Connectivity Platform as spanning CXL, Ethernet, NVLink Fusion, PCIe, and UALink, integrated with its COSMOS software suite. The company says its standards-based portfolio is complemented by custom connectivity solutions. This framing emphasizes a platform across multiple interconnect technologies rather than a list centered on cables and signal-processing components.
The standards list signals the breadth of the company’s stated platform scope, but it should not be mistaken for proof that every technology contributes equally to results or that every named area represents a product with the same maturity. Astera markets its platform across those standards and complements it with custom connectivity solutions. Its company material here does not provide product-level revenue, deployment figures, or a detailed maturity breakdown across the standards. Readers should keep the company’s platform description separate from evidence about shipments or customer adoption.
In its August 4, 2026 Q2 FY2026 release, Astera highlighted Aries signal conditioning, Taurus Smart Retimers and Smart Redrivers for 224G Ethernet and UALink, and the Scorpio X-Series fabric switch. Astera said its 320-lane Scorpio X-Series was expected to drive a Q3 revenue inflection through a production ramp. That was management’s expectation in the August release, not confirmation that the ramp or revenue impact subsequently occurred.

The product examples illustrate more than one part of Astera’s stated approach. Aries is identified as a signal-conditioning family; Taurus includes Smart Retimers and Smart Redrivers for the cited 224G Ethernet and UALink uses; and Scorpio X-Series is a fabric switch. The release’s forward-looking statement about Scorpio is particularly important to label precisely. “Expected to drive” a Q3 revenue inflection described a prospective ramp, not a reported Q3 outcome in the material covered here. The announcement should not be rewritten as if the production ramp had already been verified.
Astera’s COSMOS software suite is described as integrated with its Intelligent Connectivity Platform. That is a broader platform framing than the description of Credo’s PILOT diagnostic and analytics software, but the difference in wording is not evidence of a software performance gap. The available material does not set out a common test, feature comparison, customer evaluation, or independent assessment of COSMOS versus PILOT.
Where their portfolios overlap—and where they differ
The clearest overlap is in high-speed connectivity and signal conditioning for AI and data-center infrastructure. Credo explicitly names Astera Labs among its competitors in its SEC filing. That supports calling them partial competitors, not treating every product as a direct substitute. Put another way, the answer to “Are Credo and Astera Labs competitors?” is yes, in at least some areas, while their own portfolio descriptions also show different emphases.
Credo’s disclosed portfolio is particularly explicit about active electrical cables, optical transceivers, DSPs, retimers, SerDes products and IP, and memory solutions. Astera’s description emphasizes a standards-spanning platform, COSMOS software, signal-conditioning product families, and a fabric switch. Both companies discuss multiple forms of connectivity and AI infrastructure, but the overlap is not proof that they compete head to head for every design, customer, or product purchase.
| Comparison area | Credo Technology | Astera Labs |
|---|---|---|
| Portfolio emphasis | Active electrical cables, optical transceivers, memory solutions, retimers, DSPs, and SerDes products and IP | Connectivity platform spanning CXL, Ethernet, NVLink Fusion, PCIe, and UALink, plus signal conditioning and fabric switching |
| Software described | PILOT diagnostic and analytics software associated with link monitoring and system operation | COSMOS software suite integrated with the company’s Intelligent Connectivity Platform |
| Examples highlighted in recent company material | ZeroFlap AECs and optical transceivers; OmniConnect memory solutions | Aries signal conditioning; Taurus Smart Retimers and Smart Redrivers; Scorpio X-Series fabric switch |
| Product comparison supported by available information | Distinct portfolio descriptions and some competitive overlap | Distinct portfolio descriptions and some competitive overlap |
The table is a map of disclosed emphasis, not a scorecard. For example, both descriptions include retimers or signal conditioning, but that shared terminology does not establish that two named products have the same use, specifications, compatibility, price, or performance. The available material does not include a direct technical comparison or a list of design wins that would answer those questions. It also does not establish the revenue share attributable to the specific areas where the companies might overlap.
There are also differences in how each company presents software. Astera explicitly markets COSMOS as integrated with its Intelligent Connectivity Platform. Credo describes PILOT as diagnostic and analytics software associated with link monitoring and system operation. Those descriptions are useful to note, but they are not enough to establish which software has broader capabilities or delivers better results. No head-to-head software comparison is available here.
Likewise, the product descriptions span copper, optical, and broader platform categories, but they do not amount to identical roadmaps. Product announcements and management statements need to be distinguished from products with verified production or revenue contributions. In particular, Astera’s Scorpio production ramp was described as an expected Q3 development in the August 2026 release. The cited material does not verify what happened after that expectation.

Credo’s filing names Astera as a competitor, which is stronger evidence of competitive overlap than merely observing that both companies serve AI infrastructure. Even so, that filing reference does not say how frequently they face one another, whether they are competing for the same customer programs, or how often one displaces the other. Those details remain outside the available evidence.

How to read their latest reported revenue
The available financial figures cover different reporting periods, so they should not be ranked as if they were comparable. Credo’s FY2026 is a full fiscal year; Astera’s Q2 FY2026 is a single quarter. The periods also have different calendar end dates: Credo’s fiscal year ended May 2, 2026, while Astera’s cited Q2 ended June 30, 2026.
| Company and period | Reported revenue | Other reported context |
|---|---|---|
| Credo Technology, FY2026 ended May 2, 2026 | $1,335.116 million | FY2025 revenue was $436.775 million; FY2025 had 53 weeks and FY2026 had 52 weeks |
| Credo Technology, Q4 FY2026 | $437.0 million | 157.0% year-over-year revenue growth; GAAP gross margin of 68.2% |
| Astera Labs, Q2 FY2026 ended June 30, 2026 | $392.4 million | 104% year-over-year growth; GAAP gross margin of 73.3% |
These are company-reported results. Credo’s annual revenue should not be compared directly with Astera’s quarterly revenue, and the gross-margin figures above are from different periods. Credo’s year-over-year annual revenue comparison also spans fiscal years of different lengths: its filing reports 53 weeks in FY2025 and 52 weeks in FY2026. That difference is one reason to preserve the fiscal-period labels rather than present the annual growth comparison without context.
Credo’s FY2026 revenue was $1,335.116 million, compared with $436.775 million in FY2025, according to its filing. The FY2026 figure is an annual result, while its Q4 FY2026 revenue of $437.0 million is a quarter. Those two Credo figures answer different questions: the annual figure describes the full fiscal year, and the Q4 figure describes the final quarter reported in the company’s results. The Q4 release reported 157.0% year-over-year revenue growth and a GAAP gross margin of 68.2%.
Astera reported Q2 FY2026 revenue of $392.4 million, up 104% year over year and 27% sequentially, and a GAAP gross margin of 73.3%. Those are quarterly figures. Comparing $392.4 million directly with Credo’s $1,335.116 million annual revenue would compare one quarter with four quarters, not equivalent periods. Even the two quarter-level margin figures in the table refer to different fiscal quarters and should not be treated as a like-for-like operating comparison.

Company executives have framed these results positively. Credo CEO Bill Brennan said FY2026 revenue “more than tripled to $1.3 billion,” while Astera CEO Jitendra Mohan described Q2 FY2026 revenue of $392.4 million as record revenue, up 27% sequentially and 104% year over year. These statements provide management’s characterization of company results; they are not independent assessments of future performance. The quote from Credo also referred to non-GAAP net income increasing more than five times to $662 million. That is an executive’s description in the company’s release, not a substitute for a matched-period comparison of earnings or a forecast.
Growth rates can be informative, but they do not settle the comparison. A reported year-over-year percentage describes change against a stated prior period; it does not reveal the product mix behind the change, whether a particular product family drove it, or how results will develop in the future. The material here does not align the companies on the same reporting window, nor does it provide a normalized financial comparison using identical fiscal periods.

What the comparison can—and cannot—tell you
The portfolio descriptions help explain why the companies appear in the same connectivity discussion while still having different centers of gravity. Credo’s disclosed range makes its active cable, optical, DSP, retimer, and memory-connectivity emphasis visible. Astera explicitly describes a platform organized around several interconnect standards and software, and its recent release also highlights a fabric switch.
The evidence does not establish which company has stronger products in a given deployment, which is winning more customer designs, or how their market shares compare. It also cannot determine whether Astera’s expected Scorpio production ramp materialized after the August 2026 release. Revenue growth and product announcements alone do not demonstrate future market share, product success, company valuation, or shareholder returns.
For readers comparing the businesses, the practical distinction is therefore one of portfolio scope and reported period—not a conclusion that one company is categorically better. A fairer investment or product assessment would require aligned financial periods, deployment and customer evidence, product-level performance data, and valuation information that are not established by these company disclosures.
Several other questions remain open. The available company disclosures do not provide current stock prices, valuation measures, a third-party market-size estimate, customer-concentration comparisons, or competitive win/loss data. They also do not include independent product testing. That means they cannot establish whether one company’s solutions are faster, more power-efficient, more reliable, or less expensive in a matched use case. Credo identifies power efficiency, reliability, and high-speed connectivity as customer needs, but the cited material does not independently test whether its products outperform alternatives on those dimensions.
Freshness matters as well. Credo’s cited annual filing and results concern FY2026, while Astera’s cited financial release covers Q2 FY2026. Product portfolios, ramps, and quarterly figures can change. In particular, Astera’s anticipated Scorpio production ramp should be checked against a later company report before being described as a completed result. The figures and product statements here should be understood as the company disclosures identified for these periods, not as a live update of subsequent results.
For a product buyer, the available facts support a starting-point comparison by connectivity layer, standards, cable or optical offerings, memory connectivity, software descriptions, and fabric switching. A buyer would still need deployment-specific technical specifications and evidence to establish suitability; those are not provided in the company disclosures cited here. For an investor, the disclosures help identify different business emphases and reported growth, but they do not answer questions about valuation, future wins, market share, or relative returns.
Recommended Free Tools
The most defensible conclusion is limited but useful: Credo and Astera Labs both address connectivity needs in AI and data-center systems and have partial competitive overlap. Credo’s public portfolio description highlights electrical and optical interconnect products and memory connectivity; Astera presents a standards-based platform with COSMOS and a fabric-switch family. Their available results show substantial company-reported revenue growth, but the annual and quarterly periods differ. None of those facts, alone, proves that one is the better product supplier or investment.
