Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
To host Create: Perfect World 2 with friends, use the matching Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge server pack: SERVER Create- Perfect World 2-0.5.zip. Unzip it into a dedicated folder, run its included start file, accept the EULA, configure the generated server files, and have every player install the identical client pack and Forge version. Players outside your home network normally require a router port-forward for TCP/UDP port 25565 plus a firewall rule.
Self-hosting has no recurring hosting charge, but your computer, upload connection, backups, networking, and administration are your responsibility. A managed service can perform the deployment and networking for you when it supports the exact server-pack file.

What Create: Perfect World 2 requires
CurseForge describes Create: Perfect World 2 as a lightweight, Create-focused Vanilla+ pack for Minecraft 1.20.1, assembled by MrBeardstone and his team for the Create: Perfect World 2 series. Its progression combines Create with automation, storage, building, farming, exploration, and performance improvements. Listed components include Create, Create: Steam and Rails, Copycats+, Chipped, Sophisticated Backpacks, JEI, Storage Drawers, Farmer’s Delight, Aquaculture 2, Naturalist, and Macaw’s building mods.
The project’s files page identifies Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge as the target. The main 0.5 client archive and the dedicated server archive are separate downloads, so selecting the right file is the first important decision.
#1 Best Overall
| Item | Value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft edition | Java Edition | Forge modpacks and dedicated Forge servers require Java Edition. |
| Minecraft version | 1.20.1 | The client and server must use the same Minecraft version. |
| Mod loader | Forge | Do not substitute Fabric, NeoForge, or an unmodded server. |
| Client archive | Create Perfect World 2-0.5.zip |
Used by players in their launcher profile. |
| Server archive | SERVER Create- Perfect World 2-0.5.zip |
Contains the files and startup structure intended for a dedicated server. |
| Server port | 25565 by default | Usually forwarded on the router for friends connecting over the Internet. |
CurseForge lists 358,312 project downloads when accessed in 2026. The 0.5 client file shows 231.2K downloads and an October 28, 2024 upload date. Those figures describe project activity, not a performance guarantee or a required server capacity.
Choose self-hosting or managed hosting
Both approaches run the same modpack. The difference is who handles the machine and network.

|---|---|---|
| Recurring cost | No hosting bill; you provide the computer, power, and Internet connection. | Monthly plan charge; prices and availability depend on the provider and region. |
| Setup work | Install Java/Forge files, launch the pack, edit properties, configure firewall and router, and maintain backups. | Provider supplies a control panel and machine; you still select the pack and manage gameplay settings. |
| Network exposure | Normally requires forwarding port 25565 and allowing Java through the host firewall. | The provider exposes the server address, so home-router forwarding is generally unnecessary. |
| Control | Full access to worlds, configuration, logs, and mods. | Control depends on the panel, file access, and support policies. |
| Availability | The world is reachable only while your computer and connection are online. | Designed for persistent availability, subject to the provider’s service status. |
Choose self-hosting when one person has a reliable computer, upload bandwidth, and willingness to troubleshoot networking. Choose managed hosting when the group values an always-on world or nobody wants to configure a router and firewall.
Download the correct server pack
- Open the Create: Perfect World 2 project’s Files page on CurseForge.
- Filter or browse to Minecraft 1.20.1 and the Forge files.
- Select the server-pack entry named
SERVER Create- Perfect World 2-0.5.zip. Do not use the similarly named client archive for the dedicated server. - Save the ZIP somewhere you can identify as the server download. Keep the original archive as a recovery copy in case you need to rebuild the installation.
The server-pack filename is a version boundary. If a newer pack appears later, update the clients and server together rather than mixing files from different releases.

Self-hosted installation, step by step
1. Prepare a dedicated server directory
Create a new folder used only for this world, such as a Minecraft server directory on a drive with adequate free space. Avoid installing into your client’s regular .minecraft folder; separating the two makes backups, logs, and version changes safer.
2. Extract the server archive without rearranging it
Unzip SERVER Create- Perfect World 2-0.5.zip into the new directory. Preserve the folders and files supplied by the pack. The startup script expects that structure, and moving individual files into a different layout can cause missing-library or missing-mod errors.
3. Run the included start file
Launch the start file supplied by the server pack. On first run it may generate Forge libraries, configuration files, a world folder, and an EULA file, then stop or prompt for acceptance. Follow the prompts produced by that pack rather than replacing its script with a generic vanilla-server command.
4. Accept the Minecraft EULA
When the first launch creates the EULA file, open it, review the license, and change the acceptance setting exactly as requested by the file. Save it, then run the included start file again. A server will not finish starting until the EULA requirement is satisfied.

5. Complete one clean startup
Let the server reach its ready state once, then stop it from the server console. This creates the files you need to configure before anyone joins. Stopping through the console is safer than closing the window abruptly because it allows the world to save.
Configure the generated server
Edit server.properties only after the initial startup has generated it. Common settings include:
- Whitelist: enable it when the world is private, then add each player’s Minecraft username through the console or the server’s administration interface.
- Difficulty: choose the value appropriate for your group before inviting players.
- Game rules and access: review spawn protection, player limits, and any other settings exposed by the generated file.
- Server address: normally leave the server IP field empty unless you have a specific multi-interface networking reason to set it.
Property names and generated files can vary with the pack’s startup structure. Do not delete unknown files simply because they were not present in a vanilla server. Make a backup of the entire directory before substantial edits.
Match every player’s client
- Each player installs Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 and the Forge loader required by the pack.
- Install the matching Create: Perfect World 2 client profile or archive version, 0.5 for the server pack above.
- Launch the profile once so its mods and configuration are created.
- Confirm that no player has added extra mods or removed pack mods. A modded server generally requires matching content and compatible versions on both sides.
Do not copy client-only mods into the server’s mods directory. CurseForge specifically warns that client-only additions can stop a dedicated server from working. If you customize a client for shaders, menus, or visual effects, keep those additions on the client unless the mod documentation explicitly says the server also needs them.

Make the server reachable outside your home
Local-network test first
Start the server and have a player on the same home network connect using the host computer’s local address and port 25565. This separates mod or Forge problems from Internet-routing problems. If local players cannot connect, fix the server, firewall, or client versions before changing the router.
Forward port 25565
- Give the host computer a stable local address, either by reserving its address in the router’s DHCP settings or configuring a suitable static address.
- Open the router’s port-forwarding page and create a rule for port 25565 to the host computer’s local address. Use the protocol options provided by the router; many interfaces offer TCP/UDP together.
- Allow the Java runtime or the server application through the host operating system’s firewall on the relevant private and, if needed, public network profile.
- Restart the server and test from a device that is not on the same home network, such as a friend’s connection. Testing from inside the same network may not accurately test the router’s public-address behavior.
CurseForge’s multiplayer guidance calls forwarding port 25565 the recommended, though complicated, way to make a local dedicated server accessible worldwide. Never publish your home public address widely; give it only to intended players and keep the whitelist enabled.
If port forwarding does not work
- Verify that the forwarding rule points to the current host address, not an old DHCP assignment.
- Check that the firewall rule allows Java and that the server is actually listening on 25565.
- Confirm that the router has a real public IPv4 address. Carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT) from an Internet provider can prevent inbound forwarding; ask the provider whether a public address or another inbound-access option is available.
- Check for a second router or mesh gateway creating double NAT. The forwarding rule may need to exist on the upstream device as well.
Use CurseForge’s managed server workflow
CurseForge Servers is the most direct managed route when the exact pack and server pack are supported. CurseForge says its service can deploy a supported modpack without manual file uploads or home-router port forwarding. The service is powered by Shockbyte and billed through Tebex; the support page reported approximately 9,000 supported modpacks when updated on September 8, 2026. Plans, regions, and availability can change, so verify the current offer at checkout.
- Open the Minecraft section of the CurseForge app.
- Choose Servers, then Host A Server.
- Select Create: Perfect World 2 and choose the matching server-pack filename, not merely a similarly named client release.
- Select the plan and region, then enter the server name and other requested details.
- Complete the purchase through the displayed billing flow.
- Use the resulting server card to find the address and management controls.
- Share the direct link or import code so friends can install the matching profile and join.
If the pack is listed but the exact server-pack filename is unavailable, do not substitute another version. Check the provider’s file-management option or wait until the matching server pack is supported.
Best Value
Consider another managed Java provider
Modrinth Hosting advertises Forge support, SFTP access, region selection, and three published USD tiers: $10 per month for 1–5 friends, $15 per month for 6–15 players, and $20 per month for 15–25 players. These are the published plan prices, not a guarantee that Create: Perfect World 2 is available there. Confirm pack availability, supported Minecraft version, storage, backups, and Forge deployment before paying.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. In that case, upload the matching server-pack contents exactly as supplied, follow the host’s Forge startup instructions, and verify that its Java runtime is compatible with Minecraft 1.20.1. Do not assume that a generic “modded Minecraft” plan automatically supports this pack.
Backups, updates, and safe maintenance
Back up before changes
Stop the server cleanly and copy the complete server directory, especially the world folder, configuration files, and pack-specific scripts. Keep at least one backup away from the live machine. Test that an archived copy can be opened before relying on it.
Update as one coordinated change
Before changing the modpack version, record the current filename and make a backup. Install the new server pack in a separate directory, then update every player’s client to the same release. Never overwrite a working world without a rollback copy; mod updates can alter blocks, recipes, or world data.
Watch logs and disk space
Use the server console and log files to identify missing mods, failed dependencies, Java errors, and world-save problems. A full disk can look like a mod crash because the server cannot write region files or logs. Remove only files you understand, and preserve logs when requesting help.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The server crashes during startup
- Confirm Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge are used everywhere.
- Compare the server’s
modsdirectory with the dedicated server-pack contents. - Remove client-only mods accidentally copied from a player’s installation.
- Read the first meaningful error in the log, not only the final shutdown line; dependency and version errors are often reported earlier.
Players see a mod-list or registry mismatch
- Check that the player installed the same 0.5 client release as the server.
- Remove extra client mods that alter registries or content.
- Reinstall the profile if files were manually edited or partially updated.
Local players connect but remote friends cannot
- Recheck the host firewall and the port-forward destination.
- Confirm the server is using port 25565 and that friends are using the public address supplied by the host, not the local 192.168.x.x-style address.
- Investigate CGNAT or double NAT with the Internet provider or router administrator.
A managed panel says the pack is unavailable
- Search for the exact server-pack filename shown on CurseForge.
- Check that the provider supports Forge on Minecraft 1.20.1.
- If supported, use the provider’s file manager or SFTP to upload the matching server files rather than a client ZIP.
Recommended setup for a small private group
For a few friends, begin with a self-hosted test: install the dedicated 0.5 server pack, allow one local player to join, then test an external connection after configuring port 25565. Keep the whitelist enabled and schedule manual backups before major builds or pack changes. Move to managed hosting when the host computer cannot stay online, upload reliability is poor, or nobody wants to maintain router and firewall rules.
The technical rule that prevents most failures is simple: treat the client pack, Forge loader, Minecraft version, and server-pack release as one matched set. The server archive is not interchangeable with the client archive, and networking changes cannot repair a version mismatch.
