Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To host Create Aeronautica, run Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge with Java 21, and install the matching versions of Create, Sable, and Create Aeronautics on both the server and every player’s client. A managed host is the quickest route; self-hosting gives more control but requires Java, file, firewall, and backup administration. Because pack releases change, confirm the current official release and its dependency versions immediately before installing.
What you are installing
The names are easy to confuse. Create Aeronautica is the modpack/server-pack name used by community guides, while Create Aeronautics is the aircraft-focused mod inside the pack. The target environment reported by current community instructions is Minecraft 1.21.1 with the NeoForge loader and Java 21.

Every participant needs the same loader, Minecraft version, pack/mod versions, and required dependencies. The minimum content set identified in the project listings is:
- Create
- Sable
- Create Aeronautics
Installing only the aircraft mod on the server is not enough. A client that lacks a required mod, uses a different file version, or runs another loader will normally be refused during the connection handshake.

Check the release before you create a world
Search the official project pages for the current Create Aeronautica release and read the files and dependency list rather than relying on an old tutorial. Community results have shown both a 1.2.1 build tagged for Minecraft 1.21.1 and a listing calling 1.3.0+mc1.21.1 the latest. That discrepancy means a version number in a guide can already be obsolete.
Use one exact release for the server and clients. Do not mix a newer mod with an older server pack unless the project explicitly says the combination is supported. A third-party addon listing has suggested ranges such as Create 6.0.10–6.1, Create Aeronautics 1.3.2–1.4, and Sable 2.0.5–2.1; those are community pins, not an authoritative dependency contract, so treat them only as a warning to check compatibility.

| Initial setup | Usually select the pack in a modpack browser and click Install; the panel configures NeoForge and the Minecraft version. | Download the server pack, install Java and NeoForge, place files correctly, and complete the first boot yourself. |
| Recurring cost | Monthly hosting charge set by the provider and plan. | No hosting bill, but you supply hardware, electricity, storage, and your own maintenance. |
| Control | Panel tools simplify backups and restarts but may restrict files or startup arguments. | Full control of mods, JVM arguments, world files, backups, and operating-system scheduling. |
| Networking | The provider exposes the server endpoint; you do not need to open a port on your home router. | Friends outside your home network generally require router port forwarding, which can expose your network if misconfigured. |
| Operations | The provider handles the machine, while you still handle pack updates, configuration, and mod compatibility. | You handle crashes, updates, firewall rules, backups, and hardware performance. |
Choose a hosted server if you want the least networking and operating-system work. Choose self-hosting when you need unrestricted access to the files, are comfortable troubleshooting Java applications, and can secure and maintain the machine.
Requirements and capacity planning
Software
- Minecraft 1.21.1.
- NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Java 21 (64-bit).
- The same Create Aeronautica release and required Create, Sable, and Create Aeronautics files on the server and clients.
- Enough free disk space for the server, generated world, backups, logs, and temporary installer files.
Verify Java before launching anything:
java -version
The output should identify Java 21. If it reports an older runtime or the command is not found, install a 64-bit Java 21 runtime and make sure the server process uses that executable, not a second Java installation on your system.
Memory and processor
Community guidance ranges from 6 GB to 8 GB for roughly five to ten players, with some instructions recommending at least 8 GB and more than 10 GB for larger packs. These are planning figures rather than guarantees. Start with 6 GB allocated to the server at minimum only for a small, lightly explored world; reserve more when you expect several players, extensive exploration, or many additional mods. Leave operating-system memory outside the Java allocation.

| Use case | Practical starting allocation | What can change the result |
|---|---|---|
| Small group, few loaded areas | 6 GB | View distance, number of contraptions, exploration, and background programs. |
| Five to ten players with regular exploration | 6–8 GB | World-generation spikes and simultaneous Create machinery. |
| Large pack or ten-plus players | 8 GB or more; some guides suggest above 10 GB | Additional mods, entity counts, and how many players fly at once. |
Create Aeronautics can be CPU-heavy: each flying contraption performs rigid-body physics every tick. If the server slows when aircraft take off, a faster CPU and fewer simultaneous physics-heavy machines can help more than simply adding memory.

Panel labels differ, but the workflow is generally the same. Do not start the world until the panel reports that the selected loader and pack have finished installing.
- Open the host’s modpack or software browser and search for Create Aeronautica (some panels omit the final “a” and show “Create Aeronautic”).
- Select the release that explicitly targets Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. If several are listed, use the current official release and note its exact version.
- Click Install or the equivalent deployment button. Allow the panel to install NeoForge, the server files, and dependencies.
- Open the file manager and confirm that the server has the expected
modsdirectory and that Create, Sable, and Create Aeronautics are present. Remove duplicate or older copies. - Set the server’s Java runtime to Java 21 if the panel offers a runtime selector. Save, then start the server.
- Accept the Minecraft EULA in the file or panel control when prompted, restart, and wait for the console to report that the server is ready for connections.
- Install the identical client pack through the same launcher or pack distribution, then connect using the address supplied by the host.
If the panel installs a different Minecraft or loader version than the project page specifies, stop before creating a world and select another release. A successful installation of the wrong loader is still an incompatible server.
Self-host a dedicated server
1. Prepare a clean directory
Create a dedicated folder such as CreateAeronauticaServer. Avoid spaces and special characters in the path; a simple path reduces quoting and script errors. Keep this folder separate from your client installation.
2. Download the server pack
From the official pack page, download the server-pack archive for the exact Minecraft 1.21.1 release you selected. Do not substitute a client profile or an unrelated mod list. Extract the archive into the clean directory.

3. Run the included NeoForge installer
Server packs commonly include an installer or a launch script. Follow the files included with your chosen release. One community walkthrough uses start.bat on Windows; the filename and required arguments can differ between releases. Run the installer once, let it create the libraries and loader files, and read the console for errors instead of repeatedly double-clicking the script.
4. Set the Java executable and memory
If the script uses a generic java command, it will use whichever Java appears first in the system path. Confirm that is Java 21 with java -version. Set the initial and maximum heap deliberately in the launch script, for example:
java -Xms6G -Xmx6G -jar neoforge-server.jar nogui
Use the actual jar filename supplied by your release; do not rename a file in a way that makes the script point to a nonexistent jar. Increase -Xmx only when the machine has enough unused memory for the operating system and other services.
5. Complete first boot
- Run the launch script once.
- When startup stops for the EULA, open
eula.txt, read the license, and changeeula=falsetoeula=trueonly if you agree. - Start the script again and wait for the ready message.
- Stop the server cleanly from its console with
stop; do not kill the process while it is writing the world. - Review
server.properties, set a sensibleview-distance, and start again.
6. Install the client pack
Every player must install the same Minecraft 1.21.1/NeoForge profile and the same versions of Create, Sable, and Create Aeronautics. Copying only the server’s configuration files does not guarantee a matching client mod set. Keep a text record of filenames and versions so a new player can reproduce the installation.
Network access for a self-hosted server
Players on the same home network can usually connect to the host’s private address. Players on the internet generally need the Minecraft server port forwarded from the router to the host computer, plus an operating-system firewall rule allowing the server. The exact menu names depend on the router.

Port forwarding exposes a service from your home network. Use a strong router administrator password, keep the operating system and Java patched, forward only the required port to the server machine, and do not place unrelated devices in a broad “DMZ” setting. If you cannot confidently configure and monitor these controls, a managed server avoids exposing your home connection.

Starting a new world
For a first installation, generate a new world after confirming that all mods load. A mod that changes world generation can leave an existing world with inconsistent terrain or missing features; one community guide specifically recommends a new world when adding such a mod.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Updating safely
- Read the release notes and dependency list for the target version.
- Stop the server normally.
- Make a complete copy of the world folder,
server.properties, whitelist/permissions files, and configuration directory. - Update the server pack and dependencies as a set; never replace one jar while leaving an incompatible companion version.
- Update every client before reconnecting.
- Start the server and inspect the log for missing dependencies, registry warnings, or data-fix messages.
Test a major update on a copied world first. Keep at least one known-good backup so you can roll back instead of trying to repair a partially converted save.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The server exits with “OutOfMemoryError”
Open logs/latest.log and search for OutOfMemoryError. Stop the server, raise the maximum heap to at least 6 GB if the machine can spare it, and reduce view distance or simultaneous activity if the error returns. Do not allocate all physical RAM to Java.
Mixin, missing-class, or ClassNotFoundException errors
These usually indicate that the Minecraft version, NeoForge version, pack release, or a dependency does not match. Compare the exact jar filenames on the server and client, remove duplicate older jars, and reinstall the official server pack rather than adding random replacement files. Confirm that the loader is NeoForge, not Fabric or another platform.

The first boot fails after adding shaders or performance mods
Remove Iris Shaders and extra performance modifications for the first diagnostic boot. Start with the unmodified pack, confirm that a clean world loads, then add one optional mod at a time. This separates a pack problem from an optional client-only optimization.
Players are kicked during login
Check the disconnect text and the server log for a missing or mismatched mod. Verify that each client has the same Create, Sable, and Create Aeronautics versions and that everyone is on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. A client-only shader or graphics mod should not be copied into the dedicated server’s mods folder.
Aircraft or contraptions cause severe lag
Reduce view-distance in server.properties to 8 as a diagnostic setting, restart, and ask players to spread out loaded areas. Run the Spark profiler from the server console or in-game with the appropriate /spark command to identify whether physics, world generation, or another mod consumes the tick budget. If the CPU is saturated while memory remains available, adding RAM alone will not solve the bottleneck.
The server starts but friends cannot connect
First test locally from the host or home network. For internet players, verify the forwarded port points to the host’s current private address, the firewall allows Java/the server port, and the public address has not changed. Do not publish your router’s administration interface or forward a range of unrelated ports.
Launch checklist
- Official release selected for Minecraft 1.21.1.
- NeoForge installed, not a different loader.
- Java 21 confirmed with
java -version. - Create, Sable, and Create Aeronautics match on server and every client.
- At least 6 GB available for a small server, with additional headroom planned for larger groups.
- Backups completed before the first major update.
- Firewall and port-forwarding rules limited to what the server needs.
- A clean test world loads before inviting players.
Once this checklist passes, the remaining work is operational: watch memory and tick performance, keep a known-good backup, and re-check the official release page whenever you update the pack.
