You can create a Samsung account without owning a Samsung phone or tablet. Open Samsung Account in a web browser, choose Create an account, follow the prompts, then verify your email address. A computer is one option, but any internet-connected device with a browser can work.
What you need before you start
- An internet-connected device with a web browser. Samsung Canada says you can use a browser on any connected device; it does not have to be Samsung-branded. Samsung Canada’s setup guide notes that screens can vary by country and software.
- An email address you can access so you can complete verification.
You do not need to buy or borrow a Samsung device for account creation. Samsung’s France support guide specifically describes creating an account on the website for people without a Samsung smartphone or tablet. Its instructions were updated 10 March 2026.
Create the account in a browser
- Open the Samsung Account website in your browser. When possible, use Samsung’s site for your country or region.
- Select Create an account.
- Follow the on-screen prompts and submit the requested details. The exact screens and labels may differ by region.
- Open the verification email Samsung sends you. If it is not in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder.
- Select Verify account in the email. If that button does not work, Samsung France says you can copy the verification URL from the message into a browser, then follow the displayed steps.
Samsung US also documents account setup through a computer browser in its Samsung account setup guide.

Completing email verification creates the account; it does not guarantee that every future sign-in will be a single-step process. Samsung says website sign-ins can require two-step verification. Depending on your account and region, verification may involve a text message to your registered number, a notification on a Galaxy device already signed in to the account, an authenticator app, or backup codes. Samsung lists these methods in its US sign-in troubleshooting guide, but availability is not established as uniform for every user.

If a sign-in asks for a verification method you cannot access, follow the recovery or alternate-method options shown on Samsung’s sign-in screen. Do not assume that every account can skip SMS or use every other method.
What a Samsung account is for
An account can provide access to Samsung services across devices. Samsung UK lists SmartThings and Samsung Pay among its examples, and says eligible products can be registered to access tailored product information, warranty details, and support options. Those are potential uses after signup, not requirements for creating an account. The UK page excludes memory and storage devices, accessories, and product components from product registration: Samsung UK’s account-benefits guide, updated 12 December 2024.
