CP Compass is a Codeforces-centered practice tracker that records how you reached a solution, not just whether the submission was accepted. Its key idea is simple: two accepted solutions can reflect very different levels of independence, difficulty, and learning. The project author describes an AI coach that uses those solve reflections alongside problem ratings and topics to suggest what to practice next.
Why record more than an accepted submission?
Codeforces marks a problem solved when the submission is accepted, but that result does not show whether you found the central idea independently, understood the approach but made a mistake, or needed help to get unstuck. CP Compass is designed to capture that distinction so a practice history can describe the process as well as the outcome.
As project author Sanvi Naik puts it: “Codeforces records both as solved. But when you’re trying to improve, that difference matters.”

How CP Compass is described to work
- Import: Enter a Codeforces handle to import solved problems, ratings, and tags.
- Reflect: For each problem, choose a color that describes the solve and optionally add a note.
- Analyze: The tool combines reflections with problem ratings and topics to look for recurring struggles.
- Improve: Its AI coach recommends personalized practice based on that analysis.

What the Green, Yellow, and Red ratings mean
- Green: You solved the problem independently and cleanly.
- Yellow: You knew the approach but made an implementation or logic mistake.
- Red: You could not derive the central idea without help.
An optional free-text reflection lets you add context that a color cannot capture. For example, a note might explain what blocked progress or what finally clarified the idea. The usefulness of the recommendations depends in part on how honestly and consistently you record these judgments.
What should I solve next?
CP Compass is intended to help answer the practical question “What problem should I solve now?” by connecting patterns in your past reflections with problem ratings and topics. If several entries point to difficulty with a particular topic or with deriving the main observation, the tool’s stated aim is to use that history to guide practice.

Naik describes CP Compass as an initial version of a software project. The article lists React and Vite for the frontend, FastAPI and SQLite for the API and stored reflections, the Codeforces API for imported data, Qwen3-14B accessed through Hugging Face Inference Providers for the AI model, and Vercel plus Railway for deployment. These are implementation details reported by the author, not independently verified current configuration.
