Verdict: The CORSAIR NIGHTSWORD v2 WIRELESS SD (model CH-931E010-WW) is a comfortable, right-handed wireless mouse with excellent headline specifications, three connection modes, browser-based setup and a useful Stream Deck launch button. Its biggest drawback is equally clear: unlike the original Nightsword, the v2 has no adjustable-weight system. CORSAIR claims up to 8,000Hz polling and up to 170 hours of 2.4GHz battery life, but those figures depend on specific conditions, and TechRadar’s week-long review found little practical difference between 1,000Hz and 8,000Hz.

What the Corsair Nightsword v2 Wireless SD is

The reviewed mouse is officially named NIGHTSWORD v2 WIRELESS SD, model CH-931E010-WW. The SD suffix identifies its dedicated Elgato Stream Deck launch button. It is a right-handed ergonomic mouse with a thumb rest, wireless 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connectivity, USB-C wired operation, configurable controls through CORSAIR Web Hub, and a high-speed MARKSMAN S sensor.

CORSAIR positions it as an all-round gaming mouse rather than a tiny, competition-focused pointer. Its shape favors palm and relaxed claw users who want their hand supported, while the extra controls and Stream Deck integration also make it relevant to productivity and streaming setups. The central buying question is not whether the v2 is fast enough; it is whether you value this shape and connectivity more than the original Nightsword’s tunable weights.

TechRadar tested the mouse as its reviewer’s regular pointer for just over a week, including weekday work and games such as Warframe, Marathon, Valorant, Overwatch and Apex Legends. The review praised responsiveness and click feel, but criticized the close spacing of the thumb buttons and the removal of adjustable weights. Its final average score was 3.5/5.

Design, shape and everyday comfort

Right-handed thumb-rest body

The shell is designed specifically for a right hand, with a ledge supporting the thumb instead of asking it to hover beside the body. CORSAIR describes the shape as suitable for palm grip or general all-round use. At approximately 89g, it is neither an ultralight mouse nor a heavy weighted design. That middle ground can feel planted for low-sensitivity aiming while remaining manageable for ordinary desktop work.

TechRadar’s reviewer found the mouse comfortable over extended sessions and used it for both work and games. That is useful evidence for sustained comfort, but it represents one hand, one desk setup and one reviewer’s preference rather than a universal fit test. Hand size and grip style still determine whether the rear hump, thumb shelf and button reach feel natural.

Thumb-button spacing

The main ergonomic criticism was that the side buttons sit too close together. Close spacing can help a user reach both buttons without moving the thumb, but it also increases the chance of pressing the wrong one, especially during fast play or when a larger thumb covers both controls. If you rely on precise forward/back or ability bindings, test the reach before committing to the mouse.

The missing adjustable weights

The original Nightsword included a tunable-weight system. TechRadar reports that the v2 removes it. That is a substantive design change, not a minor revision: you cannot redistribute or add the original model’s weights to alter balance. Buyers who chose the first Nightsword specifically to customize mass should treat the v2 as a different proposition despite the shared family name.

Corsair NIGHTSWORD RGB Adjustable Weight FPS MOBA PC Gaming Mouse – Black
  • Smart Tunable Weight System: CORSAIR-exclusive software automatically detects the mouse’s center of gravity in real time, allowing you to adjust weight between 119g and 141g and fine-tune balance to perfectly fit your grip.
  • CORSAIR’S Most Advanced Optical Sensor Yet: A custom Pixart PMW3391 native 18,000 DPI optical sensor, adjustable in 1 DPI resolution steps, gives you total sensitivity customization and ultra-accurate tracking.
  • Professional Comfort: Built with a contoured shape that naturally fits your hand, with high-performance rubber grips inspired by pro sports equipment.
  • Ten Fully Programmable Buttons: Customize your gaming with the in-game advantage of powerful macros and key remaps.
  • Precise Weight Calibration: Two sets of weights and six mounting locations offer 120 different weight and balance configurations.

Connections and wireless choices

You can use the mouse in three ways:

  • 2.4GHz SLIPSTREAM: the low-latency wireless mode intended for gaming and the mode tied to CORSAIR’s 170-hour battery claim when set to 1,000Hz with lighting disabled.
  • Bluetooth: convenient for laptops, tablets or a second host, with a published battery claim of up to 164 hours.
  • USB-C wired: a direct connection for charging, play or situations in which you do not want to use radio.

The ability to switch between 2.4GHz, Bluetooth and cable is more consequential than the 8,000Hz headline for many households. A desktop gamer can leave the receiver connected, a laptop user can choose Bluetooth, and either can continue using the pointer over USB-C when the battery needs attention.

Sensor performance and click feel

What the numbers mean

The MARKSMAN S is specified at 33,000 DPI, 750 IPS and 50G acceleration. Those are generous limits for normal gaming: they describe the sensor’s advertised tracking capability, not a recommended sensitivity. Most players will use a small fraction of 33,000 DPI and tune sensitivity in the game or operating system. A high maximum does not automatically produce better aim.

Optical switches

CORSAIR rates the optical switches for up to 100 million clicks. That is a durability rating supplied by the manufacturer, not a guarantee that every unit will reach that count or a prediction of how a particular switch will feel after years of use. TechRadar described the clicks as tactile and responsive, which should appeal to users who prefer a defined press rather than a soft, muted action.

What the independent review experienced

After more than a week of regular use, TechRadar reported responsive movement and clicks in both 1,000Hz and 8,000Hz modes. The reviewer did not notice much practical difference between the two settings. That observation is a single reviewer’s experience, not a universal latency measurement or proof that higher polling is useless on every computer.

Is 8,000Hz polling worth using?

Polling rate describes how often the mouse reports its position to the computer. At 1,000Hz, the theoretical interval is 1 millisecond; at 8,000Hz, it is one-eighth of a millisecond. The smaller interval can reduce reporting delay, but the visible benefit depends on the display’s refresh rate, game workload, pointer speed, USB path and the computer’s ability to process the extra reports.

CORSAIR explicitly says achieving 8,000Hz depends on CPU specifications. Higher reporting also creates more work for the system. If your processor is already busy, the nominal setting may not translate into smoother play and could be a poor trade for battery life or system overhead. TechRadar’s 1,000Hz-versus-8,000Hz experience reinforces a practical approach: start at 1,000Hz, confirm that the game and desktop feel stable, then try higher rates and keep them only if you can identify a benefit.

  • Customizable RGB lighting: The unique shape gives your RGB lighting more places to shine. Customize the scroll wheel, logo, and the front grill with your lighting preferences. There’s also 3-stage indicators to display DPI and profile cues
  1. Connect the mouse in your preferred mode and select a 1,000Hz polling rate in the available configuration controls.
  2. Play your usual games at your normal sensitivity and note cursor smoothness, frame-time consistency and battery behavior.
  3. Raise the rate incrementally toward 8,000Hz on a system with sufficient CPU headroom.
  4. Keep the higher setting only if it improves your experience without introducing stutter, excess processor load or an unacceptable reduction in runtime.

There is no reason to buy the NIGHTSWORD v2 solely for 8,000Hz. Its value is stronger when the ergonomic body, three connection modes and Stream Deck button are also useful to you.

Web Hub configuration versus iCUE

CORSAIR says, “The NIGHTSWORD v2 WL is configured via CORSAIR Web Hub, a browser-based tool that requires no installation.” The product page also states that iCUE is not required. In practical terms, you can configure the mouse through the Web Hub workflow without making CORSAIR’s desktop suite a prerequisite.

This distinction matters in two opposite situations. A buyer who wants a lightweight setup may prefer opening a browser tool instead of installing another resident application. A buyer who already manages peripherals through an installed desktop utility may prefer keeping everything in one program and should confirm that the browser workflow exposes the controls they need.

A sensible first setup

  1. Charge or connect the mouse with its USB-C cable.
  2. Choose 2.4GHz SLIPSTREAM, Bluetooth or wired operation for the computer you are setting up.
  3. Open CORSAIR Web Hub from the official product support path and allow the browser to communicate with the connected mouse when prompted.
  4. Set your button assignments, sensitivity and polling preference, then test each side button and the Stream Deck launch button in the applications where you will use them.
  5. Disconnect the cable only after confirming that the selected wireless mode responds reliably.

The exact controls available can change as CORSAIR updates Web Hub. The important buyer-facing fact is that configuration does not require iCUE according to CORSAIR’s product documentation.

Stream Deck integration: useful feature, limited audience

The dedicated Stream Deck launch button is the defining feature behind the SD name. It gives an existing Elgato Stream Deck user a direct way to launch or access that ecosystem from the mouse. For a streamer or creator who already uses Stream Deck, one physical button can be more convenient than reaching for a separate control surface.

Do not interpret the button as evidence that a full Stream Deck device is included. The reviewed product is a mouse with an integration button. Its usefulness therefore depends on whether you already use compatible Stream Deck software or hardware. A gamer who never uses that ecosystem should assign less value to the button and judge the mouse on shape, controls, wireless behavior and price instead.

Battery life: read the conditions

CORSAIR’s headline battery figure is up to 170 hours, but the stated test condition is specific: 2.4GHz operation, 1,000Hz polling and backlighting turned off. CORSAIR separately lists up to 164 hours over Bluetooth. These are manufacturer claims, not runtime measurements from TechRadar’s review.

Mode Published maximum Conditions supplied by CORSAIR
2.4GHz SLIPSTREAM Up to 170 hours 1,000Hz polling, backlighting off
Bluetooth Up to 164 hours Bluetooth operation; the cited specification does not add the 1,000Hz/backlighting qualification

Actual runtime will vary with polling rate, lighting, usage and battery condition. Treat the figures as planning guidance rather than a promise that every charge will last exactly that long. If you want the longest stated 2.4GHz runtime, use the conditions CORSAIR names; if you choose 8,000Hz or lighting, expect the result to differ.

TechRadar’s review findings and scores

TechRadar first reviewed the mouse in May 2026; the review page carries an August 11, 2026 date. The reviewer used it as a regular mouse for just over a week across office work and the games listed earlier. Their scores were:

Category TechRadar score What the review emphasized
Value 3/5 The feature set did not make the mouse stand out enough at its launch price
Design 3/5 Comfortable ergonomic body, but side buttons were too close and adjustable weights were gone
Performance 4.5/5 Responsive tracking and clicks in both 1,000Hz and 8,000Hz testing
Overall average 3.5/5 Mechanically competent, but not a clear upgrade for every original-Nightsword owner

TechRadar summarized its conclusion this way: “While it’s a mechanically decent mouse that will appeal to fans of ergonomic designs, the Corsair Nightsword V2 simply doesn’t do enough to stand out against the competition.” That is the reviewer’s judgment, not an objective measurement of every competing mouse.

ProSettings presents the mouse as potentially suitable for casual gamers who want many extra inputs or one pointer that can cover gaming and productivity. That is a qualitative positioning, not a measured consensus or benchmark.

Who should buy the Nightsword v2?

It makes sense if you want

  • A right-handed, thumb-rest shape for palm-oriented or relaxed all-round use.
  • One mouse that can operate over 2.4GHz, Bluetooth or USB-C.
  • Browser-based configuration without requiring iCUE.
  • Optical clicks and a sensor with high advertised speed, DPI and acceleration limits.
  • A dedicated Stream Deck launch button because you already use that ecosystem.
  • The option to experiment with 8,000Hz polling on a CPU capable of handling it.

Look elsewhere if you need

  • The original Nightsword’s adjustable-weight system.
  • Widely separated thumb buttons for fast, unambiguous side-button presses.
  • A genuinely lightweight design below the approximately 89g specification.
  • A purchase justified mainly by 8,000Hz polling when your system or display cannot show a practical benefit.
  • Stream Deck integration when you have no use for that ecosystem.

Buying decision: the trade-offs in plain terms

The NIGHTSWORD v2 WIRELESS SD is easiest to justify as a comfort-and-connectivity purchase. Its shape, battery claims, three connection options and optical switches form a coherent package. The Stream Deck button adds meaningful convenience for an existing Elgato user, while Web Hub keeps configuration browser-based.

The case is weaker if you are upgrading from the original Nightsword for its signature weight tuning. That feature is gone, and the v2 does not replace it with a clearly demonstrated advantage that every player will feel. Likewise, 8,000Hz is a capability to test, not a guarantee of visibly better aim. TechRadar’s experience suggests many users may notice little difference from 1,000Hz.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose the v2 when the ergonomic fit and workflow features solve a real problem at the price available in your region. Skip it when adjustable mass is essential, when the side-button layout does not suit your hand, or when the headline polling rate is the only feature attracting you.

Bottom line

The Corsair Nightsword v2 Wireless SD is a capable, comfortable right-handed wireless mouse whose best features are practical: flexible connections, tactile optical clicks, a thumb-rest body and installation-free Web Hub configuration. Its 33,000-DPI sensor and 8,000Hz polling are impressive specifications, but they should be read with CORSAIR’s CPU and battery conditions and TechRadar’s finding that 1,000Hz felt nearly the same in testing. The decisive compromise is the removal of adjustable weights. For users who value that original feature, this is not a straightforward upgrade; for palm-grip gamers, productivity users and existing Stream Deck owners, it can be a sensible all-purpose option.
