The CORSAIR MP600 ELITE is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD family with several cooling configurations and capacities. Its advertised sequential speeds are high, but those are CORSAIR ratings—not guarantees for every PC or workload. The main buying checks are the exact capacity and heatsink version, your system’s PCIe support, and the capacity-specific endurance figure.
What the CORSAIR MP600 ELITE includes
CORSAIR describes the MP600 ELITE as an M.2 2280 SSD using PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe 1.4, and 3D TLC NAND. The family is listed in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, with three cooling configurations: a bare drive, a desktop version with a passive heatspreader, and a PS5-oriented version with a low-profile passive heatsink. Choosing among the bare drive, heatspreader, and PS5-oriented heatsink lets you match the SSD to the host and its existing cooling. A bare model may suit a motherboard with appropriate M.2 cooling; a fitted heatsink can be useful where that cooling is absent, provided the module physically fits.
High advertised sequential speeds
CORSAIR lists family maximums of up to 7,000MB/s sequential read and 6,500MB/s sequential write. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently reproduced test results. CORSAIR notes that performance depends on the host platform, usage, and other variables, so do not expect every system or workload to reach those figures. PCIe 3.0 backward compatibility
CORSAIR says the family is backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 systems. It can therefore be an option for a Gen 3 host, but that system will not deliver the stated Gen 4 maximum sequential throughput.
PS5-oriented model and management support
CORSAIR offers a version with a low-profile aluminum heatsink intended for PS5 and PS5 Pro use. The company says this version exceeds Sony’s M.2 performance requirements; verify the exact model and console fit before buying. CORSAIR also lists SSD Toolbox support, including secure erase and firmware updates, and a five-year warranty. These are manufacturer-stated features, not evidence of measured reliability. The CORSAIR launch announcement also describes the family’s warranty and intended systems.

MP600 ELITE cons and cautions
Headline speeds are not guaranteed results
The maximum read and write ratings describe sequential throughput, not every task or application. Actual results vary with the host platform and usage, as CORSAIR itself cautions. The available product specifications do not establish an independent benchmark comparison, real-world loading advantage, or ranking against other SSDs.

If you select the bare drive, check whether the motherboard or device provides suitable M.2 cooling. Conversely, do not assume a heatsink-equipped version will fit every slot or enclosure; check dimensions and clearance for the exact host and SKU.

Endurance depends on the exact capacity
CORSAIR lists family endurance of up to 1,200TBW, but that “up to” figure is not a rating for every capacity. For example, CORSAIR lists 600TBW for its 1TB PS5 model. Consult the specification for the exact capacity and cooling variant rather than applying the family maximum to an individual drive. The figures are CORSAIR specifications; the pages were accessed in 2026 and do not state a publication year for them.
What to check before choosing a version
- Confirm the capacity and exact SKU. The family includes 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB options, and capacity affects the applicable endurance rating.
- Check the host interface. The drive is rated for PCIe 4.0 x4 and is described by CORSAIR as backward compatible with PCIe 3.0; a Gen 3 system will not reach the advertised Gen 4 maximum.
- Match the cooling configuration to the device. Decide whether you need a bare drive, passive heatspreader, or PS5-oriented low-profile heatsink, then verify slot clearance and host compatibility.
- Compare specifications, not just the family name. Check the exact SKU’s rated performance, endurance, and warranty terms. A value or performance ranking would require current pricing and independent measurements, which are not established by CORSAIR’s product pages.
Verdict: who should consider the MP600 ELITE?
The MP600 ELITE is worth considering if you want a PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSD and can choose a cooling version that suits your system. Its family-level speed ratings and feature set are promising on paper, but the published specifications alone do not show how it performs against alternatives in independent tests. Make the decision based on the exact capacity, host compatibility, cooling fit, and SKU-specific endurance—not the family name or headline maximums alone.
