The PACE 4 Pro is a meaningful upgrade if you want a larger, higher-resolution AMOLED display, downloadable maps, or dual-frequency GPS with COROS’s higher listed battery estimates. If your PACE 3 already handles your training and you do not need those features, the published specifications alone do not make a strong case for replacing it. The biggest practical changes are the screen and map support. Battery life, weight and price need a closer, apples-to-apples comparison before you decide.
What changed between the PACE 4 Pro and PACE 3?
COROS’s published specifications position the PACE 4 Pro as a more feature-rich watch than the PACE 3, rather than as a small update to an otherwise identical model. The main additions and changes are a larger LTPO AMOLED screen with sapphire glass, a titanium-alloy bezel, downloadable global maps, dual-frequency GPS, more listed storage, voice functions and higher manufacturer-listed GPS battery estimates in the modes shown below.
The table brings together the specifications most likely to affect an upgrade decision. Figures are manufacturer specifications or estimates, not independent measurements. COROS uses “PACE Pro” in its comparison-table listing for some of the newer watch specifications; the PACE 4 Pro product page is the relevant source for that watch’s current feature description.

Specifications do not settle every real-world question. In particular, there is no established independent head-to-head test here of GPS accuracy, battery life in matching everyday use, screen readability, comfort, heart-rate accuracy or sapphire-glass durability. Treat the listed differences as features and manufacturer estimates—not proof that every owner will see a particular performance gain.

How much better is the screen?
The display change is one of the easiest differences to understand on paper. The PACE 4 Pro’s listed panel is larger and has substantially more pixels than the PACE 3’s Memory-in-Pixel screen, and it changes display technology to LTPO AMOLED. That gives the newer model a clearer specification advantage for readers who want a more detailed, more visually prominent watch face and a larger canvas for on-watch information.
That does not, by itself, establish how legible either watch will be in every situation. The available specifications do not provide a controlled sunlight-readability comparison or independent brightness measurements. If you run in bright daylight, prefer a particular display style, or want to judge how much information you can read at a glance, look at the watches in person or consult a review that explicitly tests those conditions. Do not translate panel resolution into a guaranteed improvement in outdoor readability.
Sapphire glass is another listed change, but the material specification is not a durability test. It tells you what COROS says covers the PACE 4 Pro display; it does not establish that the watch cannot scratch, crack or otherwise be damaged. Likewise, the titanium-alloy bezel is a materials distinction, not evidence of a measured toughness advantage.
For a PACE 3 owner who likes a simpler display and can comfortably read the data they use, a different panel technology may not matter enough to justify a new watch. For someone who has wanted a larger, higher-resolution AMOLED display, the change is direct and substantial on the specification sheet.

Does the PACE 4 Pro have maps?
Yes. COROS lists downloadable global landscape and topographic maps, including street and trail names, for the PACE 4 Pro. The PACE 3 comparison describes breadcrumb navigation instead. The practical distinction is map context versus following a route line: a breadcrumb display can help you stay on a planned course, while a map can show that course in relation to named streets, trails and surrounding mapped terrain.
That extra context matters most when you plan routes, explore unfamiliar areas, or want to make sense of a route without relying only on a line. It is less compelling if you usually repeat familiar runs, follow a route on another device, or do not use on-watch navigation. The map listing does not establish the availability or completeness of every local map detail, nor does it promise a particular map-download experience in every region.
Before buying for navigation, check that the maps you need are available for your area and that the on-watch map functions fit the way you plan to use them. “Global” describes COROS’s product listing; it should not be read as a guarantee that every road, path or trail is mapped at the same level of detail.

COROS lists higher GPS battery estimates for the PACE 4 Pro in the cited modes, but the comparison is useful only when the modes are kept straight. The figures below are the manufacturer’s estimates, not independent measurements or guarantees for every user. COROS says actual results depend on feature use and settings.

| GPS mode in COROS’s battery table | PACE 4 Pro estimate | PACE 3 estimate | Difference between listed estimates |
|---|---|---|---|
| All Systems On / High for PACE 4 Pro; All Systems On for PACE 3 | 60 hours | 25 hours | 35 hours |
| Dual Frequency / Max for PACE 4 Pro; Dual Frequency for PACE 3 | 40 hours | 15 hours | 25 hours |
The labels are not perfectly symmetrical: COROS names the PACE 4 Pro’s modes “All Systems On / High” and “Dual Frequency / Max,” while the PACE 3 entries are “All Systems On” and “Dual Frequency.” So although the table makes the manufacturer’s estimates easy to compare, it does not establish that the two watches were independently tested under identical conditions. The larger listed allowance may be valuable if you routinely need long GPS sessions, but do not assume it will translate into the same number of extra hours in your own use.
Dual-frequency GPS is specifically listed for the PACE 4 Pro. Its presence is a feature change, not proof of improved accuracy in a particular environment. No independent accuracy comparison is established here, so an upgrade motivated by a claim that the newer watch will fix a specific tracking problem needs evidence from testing in conditions like yours.
When checking whether the listed battery estimates matter for your training, identify the satellite mode you actually use, how long your sessions last, and which other features are active. Compare the corresponding manufacturer figures rather than using the longest number from one watch against a different mode on the other. For many runners whose sessions fit comfortably within their current watch’s real-world charge cycle, a larger maximum estimate may be less important than the screen or maps.

Will the PACE 4 Pro feel heavier?
Yes, the PACE 4 Pro’s listed weight is higher in both of the band configurations COROS specifies. It is listed at 43 g with a nylon band and 51 g with a silicone band; the PACE 3 comparison lists 30 g with nylon and 38 g with silicone. The difference is 13 g when comparing nylon with nylon, or 13 g when comparing silicone with silicone.

Band type matters because comparing a silicone-equipped PACE 4 Pro with a nylon-equipped PACE 3 would mix two different configurations. If weight is a deciding factor, compare watches with the same band material and check the configuration you would actually buy. The listed figures do not establish how either watch feels on your wrist during a run, overnight wear or a triathlon; comfort depends on fit and personal preference, and no comparative comfort test is established here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What do the extra storage, voice functions and sport modes add?
COROS’s comparison table lists 32 GB of storage for the newer PACE Pro entry and 4 GB for the PACE 3. More storage may matter if you expect to use downloadable maps or store more content on the watch, but the listed capacity alone does not say how much space is available to the user, how much maps occupy, or how storage is allocated. Consider it a specification difference rather than a reason to upgrade unless your own use is constrained by the PACE 3’s capacity.
The PACE 4 Pro product page describes a built-in microphone and speaker for voice notes and hands-free calls. These functions could be useful if you want to capture a note or handle a call without reaching for another device. The product description establishes that those capabilities are offered; it does not establish call quality, which phones and services are supported in every region, or whether the functions will suit your routine. Check the current product details for the requirements that apply to your phone and location.

These modes are relevant to people who need the watch to support a multisport session, but their presence alone does not mean a PACE 3 owner who already records training successfully needs to switch. For external sensors, COROS’s buying page says the PACE 4 Pro connects over Bluetooth to heart-rate monitors, cycling power meters, cadence sensors, speed sensors and the COROS POD 2. That is a list of supported accessory categories, not a blanket guarantee for every model. Verify compatibility for the exact sensor you own or plan to use before making it part of the upgrade calculation.
How much does it cost, and when did it launch?
COROS’s U.S. product listing showed a price of $449 in 2026 at the time of the cited listing. That is a dated U.S. snapshot, not a guaranteed current price, and it should not be assumed to apply in another country. COROS’s Japanese launch announcement gives September 24, 2026, as the PACE 4 Pro launch date. The product page also showed a U.S. shipping estimate of 5–7 business days at the time checked; stock and shipping estimates can change.
A comparable current PACE 3 price, its resale value and your net cost after selling it are not established here. Those numbers can change the decision considerably. Check the current price in your region, then compare the amount you would actually pay with the value you place on the changes you will use. Do not treat a previous purchase price or a hoped-for resale amount as if it were a current quote.
Is upgrading from the PACE 3 worth it?
It depends on which difference solves a real problem for you. The PACE 4 Pro is the more relevant option if you specifically want on-watch map context, the larger AMOLED display, or dual-frequency GPS alongside COROS’s higher listed battery estimates. If those changes do not affect how you train or navigate, the PACE 3 remains a reasonable watch to keep based on the specifications available here.
Upgrade is easier to justify if
- You regularly navigate unfamiliar routes and want named streets and trails on downloadable maps rather than relying on breadcrumb route following.
- You actively want the larger, higher-resolution AMOLED display and accept that the specifications do not guarantee a particular sunlight-reading experience.
- Your planned GPS sessions make the newer watch’s mode-specific manufacturer estimates relevant, and you understand that actual results depend on settings and feature use.
- You need the voice functions, dedicated triathlon or multisport modes, or additional listed storage for a specific use case.
- You have checked the current local price and the net cost is worthwhile to you.
Keeping the PACE 3 makes more sense if
- Your current watch already covers your training and navigation needs.
- You do not value map context, the AMOLED screen change or the PACE 4 Pro’s listed additions enough to pay for a replacement.
- You prioritize a lighter listed weight and are satisfied with your current display.
- Your reason for upgrading is a hoped-for accuracy, comfort or durability improvement that is not demonstrated by the available specifications.
A practical way to decide is to start with the feature you would use most, not the longest list of specifications. If it is navigation, test whether maps would change your route choices or confidence on unfamiliar trails. If it is battery, write down your usual satellite mode and session length, then compare the matching estimates rather than the headline maximums. If it is weight, compare the same band type. Finally, price the actual purchase in your region and subtract only a resale amount you have independently confirmed.
COROS’s product page describes the PACE 4 Pro as delivering “the uncompromising performance of the most capable sport watches, without the bulk.” That is COROS’s promotional wording, not an independent assessment or a head-to-head test result. The specifications support a clear feature upgrade in several areas; they do not establish that every PACE 3 owner will get enough practical benefit to justify the cost.
