A CoreMark leaderboard can show how submitted NAS CPUs compare on a compact processor-core benchmark, but it cannot tell you which NAS will perform best overall. The public 17NAS ranking listed 150 CPUs when checked on October 7, 2026; those are community-submitted results, not a dataset I can attribute to this article’s author. Read the scores as a useful reference for CPU integer performance, not a controlled test of complete NAS systems.

What a CoreMark score measures

CoreMark is designed to exercise processor-core functionality and produce one headline score. Its workload includes list processing, matrix manipulation, a state machine and CRC. EEMBC, the benchmark’s publisher, describes it as “a simple, yet sophisticated benchmark that is designed specifically to test the functionality of a processor core.” EEMBC’s CoreMark overview explains the benchmark’s purpose and workload.

That makes CoreMark a compact signal for CPU core and integer performance—not a complete NAS performance test. It does not directly measure file-transfer speed, RAID behavior, network throughput, power consumption or the experience of running a particular NAS operating system. For a wider mix of integer and floating-point workloads, multicore support and larger memory datasets, EEMBC offers CoreMark-PRO, but that is a different benchmark. EEMBC’s CoreMark-PRO overview describes its broader scope.

What the 17NAS leaderboard shows

The public 17NAS ranking page displayed 150 CPUs listed and 124 benchmarks on October 7, 2026. Its figures are drawn from its database and refreshed hourly, so the count is a dated snapshot rather than a permanent total. Another page on the same site showed 146 CPUs and 120 benchmarks during that access session, underscoring why a count should be tied to the specific page and date. The 17NAS ranking page shows the live listing.

  • Let AI Better Organize Your Memories: UGREEN NAS uses AI to tag faces, locations, texts, and objects—so you can effortlessly find any photo by searching for who or what's in it in seconds. It also automatically finds and deletes similar or duplicate photo, backs up live photos and allows you to share them with your friends or family with just one tap. Everything stays effortlessly organized, powered by intelligent tagging and recognition.

17NAS says users submit results from real devices, optionally adding system details and screenshots. Its team manually reviews submissions for plausibility. The ranking for each CPU model uses its best valid, reviewed score, while detail pages may also show best, average, median and sample count. Therefore, the ranking is an ordering by best submitted result—not a controlled lab average or a guarantee of typical performance. 17NAS’s methodology page describes this process.

High scores are reference points, not buying verdicts

Examples shown on the ranking page when accessed October 7, 2026 included AMD EPYC 7513 at 1,140,363, AMD EPYC 7532 at 1,024,710 and Intel Core Ultra 7 265K at 852,878. These are volatile community leaderboard results, and the listed value for each model reflects its best reviewed submission. They are not EEMBC-certified results and should not be read as a controlled comparison of NAS products.

Low-power CPUs appear in a different use case

17NAS names Intel N100, Intel J4125 and Rockchip RK3588 as common low-power NAS CPU examples. Their presence is useful context when exploring compact or low-power systems, but CoreMark scores alone cannot establish that a particular appliance or mini PC is the right choice. For an N100-based small-NAS build, first check drive connectivity, networking, cooling, memory and NAS software compatibility; the benchmark does not evaluate the complete machine.

Why scores for the same CPU can differ

17NAS identifies compiler version, compiler flags, scheduling and cooling as score influences, and says a 5–15% difference for the same CPU across NAS systems is normal. Its FAQ also notes operating-system versions, thermals, power settings and background load as variables. That range is the site’s stated expectation, not an independently established universal margin.

When comparing entries, check the number of submissions and look at median or average results on the CPU detail page when available. A single best score can be an outlier relative to ordinary operation. 17NAS recommends repeated runs on an idle system and using the median; this helps reduce the effect of transient conditions, though it does not turn a community leaderboard into a controlled test.

Manual review is not EEMBC certification

17NAS’s manual plausibility review and EEMBC’s certification are separate processes. EEMBC’s score directory can include submissions that are not exhaustive: members and licensees are not required to upload every result. EEMBC distinguishes certified scores that have been analyzed by its Certification Lab against official run rules. A result appearing on 17NAS should not be described as certified unless it is separately listed and identified as such by EEMBC. EEMBC’s score directory explains the submission and certification distinction.

How to use the scores when choosing a NAS

Use CoreMark to narrow a CPU comparison when processor-core performance matters, then evaluate the rest of the system against your workload. For a home file server, media library or backup target, practical fit can depend more on the actual drive interfaces, number of bays, network ports, memory capacity and software support than on a higher CoreMark result.

  • For CPU comparisons: compare the same benchmark context and inspect sample counts and typical scores, not only each model’s best entry.
  • For sustained workloads: consider cooling, power policy and system thermals, which can affect observed scores and day-to-day performance.
  • For a complete NAS decision: verify drive connectivity, networking, memory, power needs and operating-system compatibility. The cited leaderboard does not provide comparable data for those factors or for purchase price.

There is no verified author-created dataset, collection method or author-specific set of leaderboard results established here. The figures above are explicitly from the public 17NAS page and should not be presented as results from a separate 100-plus-CPU project.
