For a Windows PC, the most direct way to transfer videos from a Samsung Galaxy phone is to connect it with a data-capable USB cable, unlock the phone, choose Transferring files/Android Auto (or MTP) in the USB settings, then copy the video from File Explorer. Camera recordings are usually in Internal storage > DCIM > Camera.
Transfer videos with a USB cable on Windows
- Connect the Galaxy phone to the PC using a USB-C-to-USB-C or USB-A-to-USB-C cable that supports data transfer.
- Unlock the phone. If a permission prompt appears, tap Allow to let the computer access its data.
- If the phone only charges or no files appear, swipe down from the top of the screen, open the USB notification or settings, and select Transferring files/Android Auto. Samsung also refers to this mode as MTP.
- On the PC, open File Explorer, select the Galaxy device, then open Internal storage > DCIM > Camera.
- Select the videos you want and copy or drag them to a folder on the computer. Wait for the copy to finish before disconnecting the phone.
Samsung Australia documents this sequence and folder path, but its guide is written for Australian Galaxy variants. Samsung notes that available settings can vary by model, region, and software version; owners of international devices should check with their local Samsung support site. Samsung Australia’s USB transfer guide.
Find videos saved outside the Camera folder
Clips recorded with the phone camera are normally stored in DCIM > Camera. Videos downloaded or saved by another app may be in a different folder. In the Gallery app, open the video and check its details for the storage location; use that path to locate the file through File Explorer. Samsung’s transfer guide.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFix a phone that charges but does not show files
- Try another cable. Some USB cables carry power but not data. Use a cable that supports file transfer. Samsung Australia’s troubleshooting guide.
- Connect directly to the PC. Plug into a computer USB port rather than a hub.
- Unlock the phone and allow access. A locked phone or declined permission prompt can prevent browsing.
- Check the USB mode. Choose Transferring files/Android Auto or MTP, not a charging-only mode.
- Check the video’s location. If the clip is not in Camera, look up its folder in Gallery details and browse to that location in File Explorer.
Choose another transfer method when USB is not convenient

| Quick Share or Nearby Share | Sharing selected videos wirelessly | Samsung says Gallery photos and videos can be shared this way. The inspected Samsung guidance does not establish every current PC compatibility requirement. Samsung’s Gallery sharing guidance. |
| Link to Windows / Phone Link | Viewing or saving recent phone media on a Windows PC | Samsung documents the option for Windows 10 or 11. Phone Link can display up to 2,000 recent photos and videos; as new photos arrive, older previews are removed from the PC. It is for recent media access, not browsing the phone’s full storage in File Explorer. Samsung’s Windows connection guide and Samsung’s Phone Link guidance. |
| Bluetooth | A small file when other options are unavailable | Samsung supports Bluetooth transfers but warns they may be slow and unreliable, making it a poor first choice for large videos. Samsung’s Windows connection guide. |
| Cloud storage | Retrieving videos from another location over the internet | Samsung lists Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox as compatible options. Upload from the phone and download on the computer; internet access and available storage are required. Samsung’s cloud and media guidance. |
| USB OTG flash storage | Making an intermediate copy without transferring directly to the PC | Samsung documents copying or moving files in My Files to a USB OTG flash drive. Support for external storage varies by Galaxy model, and some drives may draw too much power. Samsung’s external-storage guidance. |
Use Smart Switch for backup or device migration, not a selected-file copy
Samsung describes Smart Switch for moving content to another phone or tablet and for creating computer backups. If the goal is simply to copy a few video files into a folder on the computer, use File Explorer and the USB steps above instead. Samsung UK’s Smart Switch backup guide.
#1 Best Overall
- USB-C to C Cable for up to 25W Charging Speeds
- Get it in black or white to suit your style and device
Transfer time depends on the actual setup
Samsung’s cited guidance does not provide a validated transfer-rate figure or typical duration for copying videos. A cable’s advertised maximum does not guarantee a particular real-world speed, so allow the copy to complete rather than relying on a time estimate.
