PDF Expert is the most direct fit for Mac users who want a professional PDF conversion workflow without leaving the desktop. Readdle’s Mac App Store listing says it can edit original PDF text and convert PDFs to Word, Excel and PowerPoint—and convert those Office formats back to PDF. It also includes image editing and form filling. Those are vendor-stated capabilities, not results from an independent accuracy test.
Why PDF Expert is the practical first choice
Many Mac users need more than a one-time file conversion. They may need to correct text, adjust an image, complete a form, sign a document, or reorganize pages before sending the finished file. PDF Expert combines those tasks with Office-format conversion in one Mac application.
Its listed conversion targets are Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with two-way conversion between PDF and those formats. That makes it suitable for common office handoffs: turning a PDF report into an editable Word document, extracting tabular content for Excel, or moving slide content into PowerPoint.

- Install and open PDF Expert on your Mac, then import the PDF you need to change.
- Use the app’s conversion command and choose Word, Excel or PowerPoint as the output format, depending on your goal.
- Save the converted file with a new name so the original PDF remains unchanged.
- Open the result in the relevant Office application and check headings, tables, page breaks, images and fonts before sharing it.
The final inspection matters because the available product pages establish that conversion is supported, but they do not provide a controlled, independent measurement of layout or text accuracy.

When Acrobat Pro is the better choice
Adobe Acrobat Pro is the stronger alternative when scanned documents and OCR are central to your workflow. Adobe states that its OCR can make scans searchable and editable, and that Acrobat converts PDFs to Word, PowerPoint and Excel and converts those formats back to PDF.
Choose Acrobat for scanned pages
A scan is usually an image rather than selectable text. OCR analyzes that image and creates a text layer, allowing searches and edits. After OCR, proofread names, numbers, tables and unusual characters; recognition quality depends on the source scan, and no cited source supplies a reliable accuracy percentage.

Checks to run after every conversion
- Compare the converted page count with the original.
- Inspect tables for shifted columns, missing cells and altered decimal points.
- Check headings, footers, page breaks and bullet lists.
- Open every embedded image and confirm its position and resolution.
- Search for names, dates and numbers that OCR or layout conversion could misread.
- Review the document in its final Office application before exporting or sending it.
No cited source establishes which product converts “most accurately,” so treat the choice as a workflow decision rather than a proven ranking.
