The most dependable way to connect an iPhone to a Magnavox TV is with a digital AV adapter that matches the iPhone’s charging port, an HDMI cable, and an available HDMI input on the TV. For wireless streaming or screen mirroring, the TV must support AirPlay—or you can connect an Apple TV to the Magnavox by HDMI. A Roku label or Wi-Fi connection alone does not confirm AirPlay support.
Choose a connection method

Apple’s guide to connecting an iPhone to a display with a cable describes using the appropriate cable or adapter. Magnavox sells several kinds of TVs, and the ports and features depend on the model, so check the specific set before buying equipment.
Connect your iPhone to the TV with HDMI
1. Match the adapter to the iPhone
Check the iPhone’s charging port, then choose a compatible digital AV adapter for that connector. Apple’s instructions distinguish between USB-C and Lightning adapters; do not rely on a product description that merely says it works with a mobile device. Apple’s iPhone display connection instructions explain the supported cable and adapter options.

- Plug the digital AV adapter into the iPhone.
- Connect an HDMI cable from the adapter to an open HDMI port on the Magnavox TV.
- Turn on the TV and use its remote to select the HDMI input you used. Input names and menu steps vary by TV model.
The iPhone’s display should appear on the TV. Choose an HDMI cable long enough to reach comfortably; the connection does not require a particular cable length.

3. If the picture does not appear
- Make sure the TV is set to the HDMI input connected to the iPhone.
- Disconnect and firmly reconnect the adapter and HDMI cable.
- Check that the adapter matches the iPhone’s port.
- Look up the TV’s exact model number and consult its manual if you cannot identify the input or resolve the problem.
Apple notes that a Digital AV adapter carries audio over HDMI, while a VGA adapter does not. For this setup, use HDMI rather than assuming another display connection will carry sound. See Apple’s information on connecting an iPhone to a display.
Use AirPlay to stream or mirror wirelessly
Confirm there is an AirPlay receiver
AirPlay works when the receiving device is an AirPlay-compatible television or an Apple TV connected to the Magnavox through HDMI. Put the iPhone and receiver on the same Wi-Fi network. Apple’s instructions for streaming video or mirroring an iPhone with AirPlay cover both methods.

Magnavox’s catalog includes Roku TVs and other television types. Some product descriptions mention sharing media from a compatible phone or tablet, but that does not establish AirPlay support for every Magnavox or Magnavox Roku model. Check the manual or specifications for your exact model before relying on wireless mirroring. Use the model number on the back of the set to find documentation on Magnavox’s manuals and downloads page.

- To stream a video, start playback in an app that supports AirPlay, tap its AirPlay button, and select the receiver.
- To show the full iPhone screen, open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, and select the receiver.
- If a passcode appears on the TV, enter it on the iPhone.
Some video apps do not support AirPlay. If a particular app will not send video, check whether it is available directly on the Apple TV, or use the HDMI connection instead. Apple’s AirPlay troubleshooting guidance notes that app support can vary.

Check the TV and adapter before buying
Magnavox models do not all share the same hardware or port configuration. The official catalog includes different TV types, and individual product pages list features for specific sets. Locate the model number on the back of your TV and check the corresponding manual or product information for an available HDMI input and any stated AirPlay support. Magnavox’s television listings illustrate why a model-specific check matters.
Do not mistake Magnavox’s MC3001 HDMI Micro and Mini Adapter for an iPhone digital AV adapter. Its listed connectors are HDMI Mini (Type C) and Micro (Type D), and its product page describes it for cameras and mobile devices without identifying it as an iPhone adapter. Troubleshoot common connection problems
The TV does not appear in Screen Mirroring
Confirm that the TV itself supports AirPlay, or that an Apple TV is connected and turned on. Make sure the iPhone and receiver are on the same Wi-Fi network.
AirPlay appears but will not play
Check whether the video app supports AirPlay. Apple also recommends updating and restarting the devices when AirPlay is not working.
There is no HDMI picture
Verify that the TV is set to the input you used, reconnect the cable and adapter, and confirm the adapter fits the iPhone’s charging port. If the TV’s inputs or controls are unclear, consult the manual for that model.
The picture appears but there is no sound
Check that you are using the HDMI connection with a digital AV adapter. Apple identifies VGA as a connection that does not carry audio.
