To connect a compatible Samsung dryer to your phone, use the SmartThings app: sign in to a Samsung account, add the dryer, put it into pairing mode, select your home Wi-Fi network, and wait for registration to finish. First confirm that your exact dryer model supports SmartThings; a Smart Care button by itself does not mean it can connect to Wi-Fi.
Before you start: confirm compatibility and prepare your network
- Check the exact model. Look for Smart Control, Smart Monitor, or a Wi-Fi symbol on the dryer, and consult its manual. Samsung identifies these as compatibility clues; control names vary by model. - Install SmartThings and sign in. Use the app on your phone and sign in to your Samsung account before adding the appliance. Samsung’s Australia setup guide lists a compatible dryer, Wi-Fi, and a Samsung account among the requirements.
- Power the dryer and router. Keep the dryer on and follow the network requirements in the guide for your model and region. Samsung Singapore’s instructions call for a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, adequate signal, and the phone and dryer using the same router; treat these as regional setup guidance, not a guarantee that every model in every market has identical requirements. How do I connect my Samsung dryer to my phone?
- Open SmartThings and add a device. Tap the add-device or plus control, then choose Samsung devices or Dryer as presented in your app. Select a location and room if prompted.
- Put the dryer in pairing mode. On many models, press and hold Smart Control until “AP” appears. The control sequence differs on some gas, FlexDry, and LCD touchscreen models, so follow your model’s manual if this does not work. Samsung’s connection instructions describe the common pairing flow and model-specific alternatives.
- Choose your home Wi-Fi network. Follow the prompts to select the network and enter its password if requested. Keep the dryer in pairing mode while the app connects.
- Wait for registration. Allow SmartThings to finish connecting and registering the dryer to your Samsung account before leaving the setup flow.
App screens and descriptions can change with software versions, and available functions can vary by country, service provider, network, and product. If your screens differ, follow the prompts shown in your current app and use the manual for your exact model. Samsung notes these variations in its Australia guide.
What to do during setup on an iPhone
In the iPhone flow documented by Samsung Singapore, SmartThings may ask you to temporarily join the dryer’s own Wi-Fi network. Open Settings > Wi-Fi, select the network whose name begins with “dryer,” and enter the temporary password 1111122222 if that prompt appears. Return to SmartThings, provide or select your home Wi-Fi details, and continue until registration completes. That password and sequence come from Samsung Singapore’s guide; app prompts may differ by model, region, or software version, so follow the current on-screen instructions.
Why won’t my Samsung dryer connect to SmartThings?
The model may not support Wi-Fi connection
Recheck the model number and manual for SmartThings or Wi-Fi support. Smart Control, Smart Monitor, and a Wi-Fi symbol are useful clues, but the manual is the best model-specific confirmation. A Smart Care button is not proof of pairing capability.

The dryer did not enter pairing mode
Look for “AP” after holding Smart Control, if that is the procedure for your model. If the display or controls differ, use the manual’s pairing steps rather than repeating a sequence intended for another dryer.
The Wi-Fi conditions may not match the setup guide
For the Singapore setup flow, check that a 2.4 GHz network is available, the signal is adequate where the dryer stands, and the phone and dryer are on the same router. Network requirements can depend on the model and market, so consult the appropriate regional support page and manual.

App, account, or registration setup is incomplete
Confirm that you are signed in to a Samsung account, have selected the home network correctly, and have allowed the app to finish registration. Keep following the current SmartThings prompts; the screens may not match older instructions exactly.

Smart Care is a separate diagnostic feature, not a Wi-Fi pairing method. Samsung says it does not use Wi-Fi; it can help interpret a displayed error code in the app, but its presence does not establish that a dryer can be added to SmartThings. See Samsung’s Smart Care instructions.

When to get model-specific help
If the dryer still will not pair after checking compatibility, pairing mode, account setup, and the applicable network guidance, note the full model number and any error code shown in the app or on the dryer. Those details are needed to distinguish a model-specific control sequence from a network or setup problem.
