Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To host Concatenation, install the exact Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge release used by the pack, then use the matching server archive when one is available. ReversTeam lists concatenation-server-1.2.2.zip for one release, while the Technic listing shows a newer 1.5.x update, so the client and server release must be verified before anyone connects. Allocate roughly 4–12 GB of memory according to the host machine and player load, accept the EULA on the first launch, and configure port forwarding or a tunnel for players outside your local network.
What you are setting up
Concatenation is a Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 modpack built for Forge. Its progression branches into four starting pathways, from technology to magic, and the pack supports multiplayer. The server must therefore run the same Minecraft version, Forge loader, pack release, mods, and configuration files as every client.

There is also a separate project with the same Concatenation name on Modrinth that targets Fabric. Choosing a project by title alone can produce a client that cannot join a Forge server. Identify the ReversTeam project and confirm the loader before downloading anything.
Compatibility checklist
| Item | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | Java Edition 1.20.1 | A different Minecraft version will normally fail during the handshake or mod loading. |
| Mod loader | Forge, not Fabric | The ReversTeam pack described here is a Forge pack; the same-name Fabric project is a different installation. |
| Pack release | Use one identical release number on the client and server | The README names concatenation-server-1.2.2.zip, while the Technic page reports a newer 1.5.x update. Mixing those files can create missing-mod or registry errors. |
| Server files | Use the server archive supplied for the selected release, or build a Forge server manually | A client export is not automatically a complete dedicated-server installation. |
| Java | Use the Java major version required by the selected pack and Forge build | The published 1.20.1 material does not state one universal Java version, so check the release notes or launcher diagnostics rather than assuming. |
| Memory | Plan within the recommended 4–12 GB range | World size, view distance, concurrent players, and other applications determine where your machine falls in that range. |
1. Confirm the project and release before installing
- Open the ReversTeam Concatenation project or its launcher entry and confirm that it identifies Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge.
- Record the exact pack release number shown by the launcher or release page.
- Find the server download for that same release. Treat
concatenation-server-1.2.2.zipas a release-specific filename, not a permanent name. - Do not combine a client from the Technic 1.5.x listing with the README’s 1.2.2 server archive, or the other way around, unless the maintainer explicitly states that they are compatible.
- Have every player install the same release through the same project identity. A similarly named Fabric pack is not an alternative client for this Forge server.
When release information appears inconsistent, the safest choice is to select one release that has both a client package and a server package, then keep those files together. If only a client is published, use the manual Forge procedure below and reproduce that client’s mods and configuration as closely as possible.

2. Prepare the host computer
ReversTeam and Technic recommend 4–12 GB of allocated memory, depending on the computer’s capabilities. This is the amount assigned to the Java process, not the total physical RAM in the machine. Leave enough memory for the operating system, the launcher, and any other services.
| Host situation | Practical starting point | Adjust when |
|---|---|---|
| Small private world with few players | Start near the lower end of the 4–12 GB recommendation | Increase allocation if the server reports memory pressure or pauses during loading. |
| Several players, large explored areas, or heavy automation | Move upward within the recommendation | Watch actual usage and leave headroom for the operating system. |
| Computer with limited RAM or CPU | Use a conservative allocation and lower client graphics settings | Disable shaders on clients if frame rate or system responsiveness suffers. |
Memory alone does not guarantee smooth play. A host with slow storage, a heavily loaded CPU, or an unstable connection can still lag. Keep the server directory on local storage with free space for world growth, backups, logs, and crash reports. The pack-specific material does not publish a universal Java major-version requirement, so use the Java version requested by the exact Forge and pack release you install.

3. Install the client pack first
Installing a client gives you a known-good set of mods and configuration files to compare with the server. A compatible launcher such as Technic or CurseForge can manage this installation.
Technic launcher workflow
- Install and open the Technic launcher.
- Search for Concatenation.
- Select the ReversTeam pack entry that identifies Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge.
- Click Install and wait for the launcher to finish downloading the pack.
- Open the launcher’s memory settings and choose an allocation within the 4–12 GB recommendation, constrained by the computer’s total RAM.
- Launch the pack once in single-player. This confirms that the client can load its mods and creates the local configuration and asset files you may need for a manual server setup.
Other compatible launchers
In another launcher, select the ReversTeam Concatenation project rather than a same-name Fabric listing. Confirm the loader and Minecraft version in the instance details after installation. Launch once, quit cleanly, and keep the instance at the chosen release; automatic updates can silently put the client ahead of your server files.
4. Use the matching dedicated-server archive
A supplied server pack is preferable to reconstructing the installation because it should already contain the server-side mods, configuration, libraries, and startup files expected by that release.
- Download the server archive whose release matches the client. The maintainer README names
concatenation-server-1.2.2.zip; verify the filename and version against the release you selected. - Create a new, empty directory dedicated to the server. Avoid extracting over an older world or a different modpack.
- Extract the archive into that directory, preserving its folder structure.
- Inspect the supplied start files and read any included release notes. They may call a particular Forge jar or set a memory value that must be retained.
- Run the supplied start script once. The first run normally creates files such as
eula.txt, a world directory, and logs.
If the archive is for a different release from your client, stop before starting a long-lived world. Download the matching archive or switch the client to the server’s release; changing mod files after a world has been created can introduce incompatibilities.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
5. Build a server manually when no matching pack is available
Use this fallback only after checking that a release-specific server archive is not available. The goal is to reproduce the client’s Forge environment while removing files that can run only with a graphical client.
- Create a clean server folder. Use a new directory so that old jars, configs, and worlds cannot be mistaken for current files.
- Download the Forge installer that matches the client. Match Minecraft 1.20.1 and the Forge build required by the selected Concatenation release.
- Install Forge as a server. In the installer, choose the server-install option and point it at the clean directory.
- Copy the pack content. From the installed client instance, copy the
modsandconfigdirectories and any mod-specific asset or data directories that the pack supplies. Preserve filenames and subdirectories. - Remove client-only mods. Rendering, menus, shaders, minimaps, and other features that require a client window must not remain in the dedicated server’s
modsdirectory. Remove the corresponding client-only configuration files as well when the mod’s documentation requires it. - Check the Forge jar name. Use the jar created by the installer or the name referenced by the supplied run script. Do not assume every Forge installation produces a file literally named
forge.jar. - Create or edit the start script. Technic’s example command is
java -Xmx4G forge.jar nogui. Change the memory value to suit the host and change the jar filename if necessary.
Windows start file
java -Xmx4G forge.jar nogui
pause
Save this as a .bat file in the server directory. The pause line keeps the window open after a crash so you can read the error.
Linux or macOS start file
#!/bin/sh
java -Xmx4G forge.jar nogui
Save it as a .sh file, make it executable using your operating system’s normal file-permission method, and run it from the server directory. Keep the terminal open while diagnosing startup problems so the final log lines remain visible.

If the manual server stops with a missing class, an invalid mod, or a loader error, compare the server’s mods and config contents with a freshly installed client. A client-only mod is a common cause, but a mismatched Forge build or pack release produces similar symptoms.
6. Accept the EULA and complete the first launch
- Run the start script once and wait for it to stop or report that an EULA decision is required.
- Open the generated
eula.txtin the server directory. - Change
eula=falsetoeula=true, then save the file. - Run the start script again and wait for the server to finish loading. The console should remain running instead of closing immediately.
- Stop the server with its normal console stop command before making file changes. Avoid killing the process during world saves.
The EULA file is generated by the server itself. If it does not appear, verify that the script is running in the directory containing the Forge server files and that the account has permission to write there.
7. Make the server reachable
Players on the same local network
Players connected to the host’s local network can usually connect using the host computer’s local address and the port configured by the server. The server must be fully started, and the host firewall must allow Java or the configured server port on the local network.
Best Value
Players outside the local network
Remote players need a path through the host’s router. Configure port forwarding from the router to the host computer, or use a port-tunneling service instead. Forward only the port configured for this server, reserve the host’s local address if your router supports it, and allow the same port through the operating system firewall. Restart the server and test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot, because a test from inside the same Wi-Fi network can give a misleading result.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.8. Have players connect with matching files
Every player should launch the same Concatenation release on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge. The following must match the server:
- Pack release and loader version.
- Required gameplay mods and their versions.
- Server-relevant configuration files.
- Any required libraries or mod assets.
Client-only visual or interface mods may differ when the pack permits them, but they should not be copied to the dedicated server. If a player receives a missing-mod, registry, or network-channel error, have that player reinstall the exact release rather than adding random files to the server.
Self-hosting or managed hosting?
Both approaches can run Concatenation. Choose based on who should handle the operating system, network, and backups rather than on a claimed performance number.

|---|---|---|
| File and configuration control | Full access to jars, mods, configs, scripts, and world files. | Usually provided through a control panel or file manager; exact access varies by plan. |
| Initial setup | You install Forge or extract the server pack, accept the EULA, and handle scripts. | Some providers advertise one-click Concatenation installation, reducing manual file work. |
| Hardware headroom | Limited by your computer’s available CPU, RAM, storage, and uptime. | Choose a plan with enough RAM and CPU capacity; changing plans may cost more. |
| Backups and rollback | You must schedule, store, and test your own backups. | Some services advertise twice-daily backups and 45 days of backup history; verify those terms for the current plan. |
| Network exposure | Requires router forwarding or a tunnel for remote players. | The provider normally supplies a public address, so router work is reduced. |
| Cost and cancellation | Uses existing hardware and electricity. | Recurring fees apply; advertised guarantees, including a 48-hour money-back period on some products, can change and should be checked before purchase. |
Self-hosting is a good fit when you want direct access to every file and can maintain the machine. Managed hosting is more convenient when the server must stay online without using a home computer, but confirm that the provider supports the exact Concatenation release and gives you a way to upload or replace files if the pack updates.
Quick Recap
Troubleshooting common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The launcher shows a Fabric instance or the client never reaches the Forge menu. | The same-name Fabric project was selected. | Remove that instance and install the ReversTeam Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge project. |
| Forge reports a version or loader mismatch. | The server and client use different Forge builds or Minecraft versions. | Compare both installation profiles and reinstall the Forge build required by the chosen pack release. |
| Missing-mod or registry errors appear during connection. | Release mismatch, missing server mod, or altered configuration. | Start from a clean server directory and rebuild it from the matching server archive or a freshly installed client. |
| The server crashes while loading a mod that references graphics or a display. | A client-only mod or its configuration was copied to the server. | Remove that mod and its corresponding client-only configuration, then restart. |
| The console stops after the first run and no world starts. | The EULA is still set to false, or the script is running in the wrong folder. | Set eula=true in the generated file and verify the script’s working directory. |
| The process exits with an out-of-memory message or long pauses. | The allocation is too low for the world, player count, or mod workload, or the host has little free RAM. | Adjust the Java memory value within the 4–12 GB recommendation while leaving RAM for the operating system. |
| Local players connect but friends elsewhere time out. | No usable router forward, tunnel, or firewall rule exists. | Forward the configured port to the host or start a tunnel, allow it through the firewall, and test from another network. |
| Players can connect but see different recipes, quests, or world behavior. | Clients are on different pack releases. | Have everyone select one release and prevent launchers from updating individual instances independently. |
Final pre-invitation check
- Client and server both identify Concatenation for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge.
- The server archive, or the manually assembled files, match the client release.
- Client-only mods have been removed from the dedicated server.
- The host has a suitable memory allocation and enough free storage.
- The EULA is accepted and the server reaches its normal running state.
- Local and remote connection tests use the correct address and configured port.
- A fresh backup exists before players begin changing the world.
