Conan Exiles is Funcom’s established survival title. It entered PC Early Access in 2017 and reached full release in 2018. Dune: Awakening is the newer extension of Funcom’s multiplayer-sandbox expertise, built around the licensed Dune universe and a persistent shared world.

A large shared world can make settlements, travel and competition feel more consequential because other players are part of the environment even when they are not in your immediate party. It also means that the social character of the game is a major part of the experience. If the idea of a living world with a substantial population sounds exciting, Dune has the stronger fit.

When Conan Exiles is the better solo choice

A newer game can be the better choice when you want to discover systems as they develop, join a community at the beginning of its long-term life and experience a current interpretation of the Dune universe.
