Four providers have current official prices worth comparing with Xfinity: AT&T Fiber, Frontier Fiber, GFiber, and Optimum Fiber. None is guaranteed to be cheaper for every household: availability, speed tier, billing discounts, taxes and fees, and price changes all affect the final bill. The available pricing supports four options, not a defensible fifth.

What “fiber” means when comparing with Xfinity

Xfinity describes its service as “powered by fiber” but “connected to premises by coaxial cable.” That is different from a fiber-to-the-home connection, where fiber reaches the residence. Xfinity does not claim to have no fiber; the practical question is which connection type each provider can install at your address.

Four fiber providers to check against your Xfinity bill

The figures below are provider-published prices, not a national ranking or a promise of your final bill. Offers and service availability are address-specific.

Provider Published price and speed Conditions and context
AT&T Fiber Plans start at $35 per month. AT&T’s plan page, accessed October 7, 2026, makes eligibility, AutoPay, paperless billing, and availability conditions applicable. Its comparison data was current as of April 10, 2026; it lists a fastest plan of 5 GIG and describes equal upload and download speeds as a fiber feature.
Frontier Fiber Fiber 500: $44.99 per month; Fiber 1 Gig: $64.99 per month. Frontier’s plan page, accessed October 7, 2026, qualifies these prices by address and requires Auto Pay and paperless billing. Promotional offers and price guarantees apply; verify their duration, the regular price, and one-time charges for your location. Frontier says its fiber plans range from 500 Mbps to 7 Gig and describes symmetrical upload and download speeds.
GFiber 1 Gig: $70 per month; 3 Gig: $100 per month; 8 Gig: $150 per month. GFiber’s plans page, accessed October 7, 2026, says Wi-Fi equipment is included in the described plans; availability depends on address, and taxes and fees may be additional. GFiber says it does not use promotional pricing and has no annual contract or early termination fee. Its FAQ says its 1 Gig price has remained $70 since its 2012 launch; that is GFiber’s own price-history claim.
Optimum Fiber 300 Mbps: $30 per month for 60 months. Optimum’s offer page, accessed October 7, 2026, conditions this price on eligible Auto Pay and paperless billing; taxes and fees are additional. Its rate card effective July 1, 2026 lists standard rates from $55 for 200 Mbps to $300 for 8 Gig. The offer page shows different promotional prices and price-lock terms, so check the terms for the exact offer available at your address.

The advertised entry prices are not directly comparable: they represent different speeds and billing conditions, and some are tied to promotions or a stated term. The Optimum standard-rate range is not the same as its $30 offer. Check the offer details rather than treating either figure as a universal price.

How to tell whether a fiber option is actually cheaper

  1. Check the service address. Use each provider’s availability checker and confirm the technology offered at the home, not merely in the surrounding neighborhood.
  2. Compare the full recurring cost. Start with your current Xfinity bill, then record the provider’s price after applying any required Auto Pay or paperless-billing discount. Add applicable taxes and fees, and note what happens after a promotion or price guarantee ends.
  3. Match speeds, including upload. Compare the offered download and upload speeds with your needs. Upload capacity can matter for video calls, remote work, cloud backups, and sending large files.
  4. Check equipment and installation. Confirm whether a router is included, whether equipment rental applies, and whether installation has a charge. GFiber says Wi-Fi equipment is included in the plans described on its plans page; verify the terms of the particular plan you can order.
  5. Read the exit and price terms. Check for a contract commitment, cancellation fees, and how long a price guarantee or offer lasts. Do not assume a promotional price is the standard rate.

Why there are four options here, not five

Current official pricing in the available evidence supports these four providers. It does not establish a fifth candidate with suitable current pricing for a like-for-like recommendation. Adding another name without confirming both its current offer and availability would imply a comparison the evidence does not support.
