These details apply to that listed regional configuration; availability and specifications can vary by market.
The listing supports microSD cards up to 1TB. Samsung says external storage can hold media files, but not applications, so a card can help with downloaded videos or other personal media without increasing app storage. The same Ireland listing gives a typical battery capacity of 5,100mAh; that is a capacity figure, not a runtime estimate. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A9 Wi-Fi product page distinguishes this 8.7-inch A9 from the larger 11-inch A9+.

Amazon Fire HD 8: portable entertainment in Fire’s app ecosystem
Amazon’s Fire HD 8 announcement, updated September 1, 2026, lists an 8-inch HD display, 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage, and microSD expansion up to 1TB using a card sold separately. Amazon states battery life of “up to 13 hours”; treat that as the manufacturer’s estimate, not an independently measured result or a direct comparison with the other tablets.

Lenovo Legion Tab: a performance-focused compact line
Lenovo’s PSREF result for the Legion Tab (8.8-inch, 5) lists a typical 9,000mAh battery and approximate weight of 360g. It gives an announcement date of June 10, 2026. These figures are tied to that named model, and the battery capacity does not establish runtime.
Do not carry display specifications across generations: a separate Lenovo PSREF result for the Legion Tab (8.8-inch, 3) lists a 2560 × 1600 LTPS display, 165Hz refresh rate, typical brightness of 500 nits, and 98% DCI-P3. Those are details for the 3 model, not confirmed specifications for the 5. Check Lenovo’s PSREF specifications for the exact Legion Tab generation and regional configuration you are considering.

What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
Reading comfort is more than screen size
The listed diagonal sizes range from 8 inches for the Fire HD 8 to 8.7 inches for the Galaxy Tab A9, with the iPad mini at 8.3 inches according to the cited secondary roundup and the Legion Tab models identified as 8.8-inch devices. These are not identical screens or reading experiences. Resolution is established for the Samsung A9 and the Legion Tab (8.8-inch, 3), but the cited material does not establish comparable resolution details for every current generation. If crisp text is a priority, confirm the exact model’s display specifications and try your preferred font size before buying.
Storage expansion is not the same as more app space
The A9 and Fire HD 8 both support microSD expansion up to 1TB according to their cited manufacturer information. Samsung explicitly says its card storage can hold media files but not applications. Amazon’s announcement does not establish in the cited passage whether apps can be moved to a card, so do not assume that expansion will solve a shortage of app storage on Fire HD 8. Battery figures cannot be ranked directly
Amazon’s “up to 13 hours” is a manufacturer estimate. Samsung’s 5,100mAh and Lenovo’s 9,000mAh are battery-capacity figures, not hours of use; the Lenovo figure is listed as typical. The cited sources do not provide a consistent independent battery test across all four tablets, so these numbers cannot establish which lasts longest in everyday reading or video playback.
Which one fits your use?
