In College Football 27, simulation is not a separate, transparent score calculator. Its simulation experience is Dynasty mode: a multi-season program-management system in which recruiting, roster retention, player development, staff, facilities, NIL, scheduling and Athletic Director expectations shape the probabilities behind results. EA names several inputs, including current poll ranking, overall rating and Blue Chip Ratio, but has not published a reproducible formula for converting them into a simulated score. Treat every result as the outcome of interacting systems rather than an overall-rating guarantee.
What simulation mode means in College Football 27
Dynasty is the mode to use when you want seasons to advance without manually playing every game. You take responsibility for a college program over an intended career arc of roughly 20 to 30 years. The job is broader than pressing a “simulate” button: you allocate a yearly Dynasty Points budget, satisfy Athletic Director expectations, recruit high-school players, manage transfers and retention, improve facilities, hire staff, develop the roster and deal with the coaching carousel.
The game records the consequences of those decisions as wins, losses, rankings, conference finishes, championships and bowl results. A simulated game is therefore one event inside a continuing program model. A team can be favored because of its present strength and still lose, while a careful rebuild can improve its odds over several seasons.

Dynasty roles and participation
You can enter Dynasty as a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator or Defensive Coordinator. EA Help states that an online Dynasty can include up to 32 users. Online Dynasty supports cross-play. Offline Dynasty is a separate experience: it does not support invitations, online data access or cross-play.

College Football 27 launched worldwide on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and mobile. Availability of a particular Dynasty feature can depend on the platform and whether the league is online or offline, so check the mode options shown by your edition before creating a long-running save.
The annual Dynasty calendar
Dynasty Points are the program’s annual budget. EA describes them as spendable on coaching staff, facilities and NIL. The budget is managed throughout the year, so a purchase made in one phase can leave you short of another opportunity later. Support-staff decisions are especially time-sensitive because they lock once the season starts.

The practical lesson is to reserve Dynasty Points for the decisions that match your calendar. Buying every available upgrade early can leave insufficient NIL for a late retention fight; saving everything can cost you staff or equipment that would have improved the current season. EA’s description of Dynasty Blueprint is explicit: “Dynasty Blueprint is not something you manage once and forget about.”
What ratings and systems affect a simulated result?
EA has identified several named inputs and long-term systems, but it has not released a weighting table for a single game. The following factors are supported by EA’s Dynasty explanations; their exact contribution to an individual score is not publicly quantified.
Championship Contender grade
The Championship Contender grade uses three current-state inputs:

- Current overall rating.
- Current Blue Chip Ratio.
These describe how the program is positioned at that moment. A high overall rating can help, but the grade is not based on overall alone. A team with a strong roster but a weak recruiting foundation may not have the same long-term outlook as a similarly rated team with a high Blue Chip Ratio.
Blue Chip Ratio and roster quality
Blue Chip Ratio reflects the share of highly rated recruits in the roster’s construction. It is one of the inputs named for Championship Contender status and is also a useful way to think about sustainability. Recruiting, player development and transfer-portal retention determine whether today’s rating can be maintained after seniors leave, injuries occur or players enter the portal.
Recruiting geography
Proximity to Home is calculated from the latitude and longitude of a recruit’s city. This replaces rough pipeline-distance approximations. A school’s recruiting reach can therefore differ from a simple “nearby state” assumption. When a prospect’s location is favorable, the distance component can support a recruiting plan; when it is not, stronger NIL, staff or program appeal may be needed to compensate.
Staff, facilities and NIL
Staff quality, facility investment and NIL are explicit parts of the Dynasty Blueprint budget. They represent different forms of leverage:
- Staff: Support-staff and coordinator choices shape the people available to develop the roster and recruit.
- Facilities: Equipment purchases and major upgrades improve the program’s infrastructure over time.
- NIL: Recruiting NIL competes for prospects during the season, while offseason NIL is central to transfer recruiting and retaining current players.
None of these is presented by EA as a publicly documented additive bonus to a simulated score. They build the context from which roster strength and future options emerge.

Coach Level and Coach Points
Coach Level grants Coach Points that you spend in skill trees and perks. It is progression for your coaching career, not a direct wins-and-losses rating. A perk may improve how you manage a program, but EA does not describe Coach Level as a score multiplier that guarantees a result. Because the intended career spans roughly 20–30 years, the system is designed for sustained management rather than an instant transformation.

EA has not published reproducible weighting for schemes, injuries, weather, momentum or other possible game-state variables in simulation. You should not assign a precise percentage to any of them or claim that a particular matchup always overrides the named inputs. The safest interpretation is probabilistic: the game evaluates a collection of conditions, and the result can vary even when one team appears stronger.
Why a stronger team can lose a simulated game
Overall rating is a snapshot, not a guarantee. A loss can be consistent with the simulation model when several conditions interact:
- The opponent may have a favorable current poll position or Championship Contender profile.
- Roster construction, Blue Chip Ratio or development may make the matchup closer than the headline overall suggests.
- Staff, facilities and NIL decisions may have left your team with less depth or weaker retention.
- Unpublished factors such as injuries, weather, schemes or momentum may influence the game without a disclosed formula.
- Random variation is inherent in a probability-based outcome; a favorite can lose without the rating system being broken.
Do not diagnose one upset by inventing a hidden equation. Instead, inspect the season context: roster changes, recruiting results, staff moves, the schedule and your available resources.
How to manage a simulation-focused Dynasty
1. Set the program objective
Decide whether the save is a title push, a quick rebuild or a long development project. Athletic Director expectations determine the performance standard you are being evaluated against. A program expected to contend immediately has less tolerance for a multi-year rebuild than a lower-expectation school.

2. Allocate preseason Dynasty Points deliberately
Before the first game, compare support-staff hires, equipment and the amount you need to keep for regular-season recruiting. Make support-staff decisions before kickoff because they lock when the season begins. Do not spend the entire annual budget on one category unless your objective requires it.
3. Build recruiting reach, not just a single class
Use Proximity to Home as a geographic signal based on the recruit’s city coordinates. Combine that reach with staff, facilities, program appeal and recruiting NIL. A single highly rated class can raise the roster, but sustained Blue Chip Ratio and development are what make a contender durable.
4. Protect the roster during the season
Continue equipment investment where it supports your plan and monitor players who may leave. Regular-season recruiting NIL is for competing for prospects; offseason NIL becomes more important for transfers and retention. Losing several developed players can reduce depth even if the starting lineup’s overall rating still looks strong.
5. Use bowl season for staff continuity
Review coordinator and coaching-carousel changes during bowl season. A departure can change your staff context before the next recruiting cycle. Plan replacements around the skills your roster and recruiting strategy lack rather than treating every hire as interchangeable.

When the budget refreshes, performance bonuses from Athletic Director expectations and season accomplishments are paid. Major facility upgrades unlock, and NIL becomes central to transfer recruiting and retention. Prioritize the bottleneck that is limiting your next season: roster depth, staff capability, facility development or the ability to keep key players.

7. Track progress over multiple seasons
Coach Level and Coach Points reward a career plan, while the Dynasty Blueprint requires repeated annual choices. Judge a rebuild by its trend in recruiting, roster quality, retention, staff and results rather than by one simulated Saturday.

When two schools look similar, compare the following axes instead of relying on overall rating alone.

Season History and what the simulation records
Season History tracks each team’s final media ranking, overall record, conference record, final conference standing, conference championships and bowl results. EA says this history continues through all 30 years of a Dynasty. Use it to identify trends: repeated recruiting success without conference titles may indicate a schedule or development problem, while a strong early record followed by declining finishes can point to retention or staff instability.

The 12-team College Football Playoff in Dynasty
Dynasty uses the updated 12-team CFP structure. The automatic-bid rules are:
- ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC champions receive automatic bids.
- The highest-ranked team from the American, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West, Pac-12 or Sun Belt receives an automatic bid.
- Notre Dame qualifies automatically if it finishes in the final CFP top 12.
- All remaining places come from the final CFP rankings.
- The top four teams receive first-round byes.
- First-round games are hosted on campus.
This makes conference standing and ranking important even when a team’s overall record is strong. A rebuild strategy should account for the route to qualification, not only the roster’s numerical rating.
What EA does and does not disclose
EA documents the Dynasty systems, named ratings and calendar decisions described above. It does not publish the exact mathematical formula or a reproducible weighting table for individual simulated game scores. That means guides claiming a universal equation, a fixed overall-rating threshold or a guaranteed upset trigger go beyond the documented information.
The useful, defensible approach is to manage the variables you can see: Dynasty Points, staff, facilities, NIL, recruiting geography, Blue Chip Ratio, roster retention, Coach Points, expectations and schedule. Then evaluate outcomes over a season and across the 30-year history rather than treating one result as proof of a hidden rule.
