Cobblemon commands can give, edit, move, heal, battle, spawn, or permanently delete Pokémon data. The official command reference is the syntax baseline, but commands only work when cheats are enabled and the server’s operator or permission system allows them. Use the least powerful command that solves the task, and treat player-targeting and reset commands as staff-only operations.
What Cobblemon commands do
Cobblemon’s command set covers much more than spawning a Pokémon. Administrators can manage party and PC data, open interfaces, control battles, grant Pokédex entries, create NPCs, inspect spawn conditions, and run development utilities. The same command may behave differently depending on the installed Cobblemon release, Minecraft version, loader, server software, and permission plugin.

The official Cobblemon wiki states that its listed commands require cheats to be enabled. On a dedicated server, that prerequisite is normally enforced through operator status or a permissions system; on a local world, it means enabling cheats in the world settings. A syntactically correct command does not bypass those access controls.
Before granting access, identify the exact Cobblemon version and loader running on the server. Documentation for one release can contain aliases, arguments, or commands that are absent or changed in another. If a command is missing, compare the installed version with the documentation and test the syntax in-game instead of guessing.

Giving and editing Pokémon
Give a Pokémon to yourself
Use /givepokemon <pokemon> [attributes]. Replace <pokemon> with the species identifier accepted by your installed version. Optional attributes can define details such as level, form, or other supported properties. Because attribute syntax is version-sensitive, copy the format shown by the command reference for that release.
Give a Pokémon to another player
Use /givepokemonother <target> <pokemon> [attributes]. The target is the player who receives the Pokémon. This is a player-administration command: restrict it to trusted staff, record when it is used for compensation or events, and verify the recipient before executing it.

Edit a party slot
For your own party, use /pokemonedit <slot> [pokemon / attributes]. To edit another player’s party, use /pokemoneditother <target> <slot> [pokemon / attributes]. The slot value and accepted attributes must match the installed release. Check the target and slot carefully before changing a competitive, event, or traded Pokémon.
Heal, teach, level, and change held items
/healpokemon [target]heals a party. Omitting the optional target applies the command to the user; specifying a target applies it to that player./teach <target> <slot> <move>teaches a move to the selected party Pokémon./levelup <target> <slot>increases the selected Pokémon’s level by one./held_item <target> <slot> <item>changes the held item.
These commands modify progression but do not have the same erasure risk as reset commands. A separate role can often receive healing or event-management permissions without receiving access to deletion commands.
Moving and removing Pokémon data
Move a Pokémon to a PC box
/pokebox <target> <slot> [box] moves a party Pokémon for the specified player into a PC box. Use the optional box argument when you need a particular destination; otherwise follow the behavior documented for your release. Confirm the target and slot first, especially when helping a player recover a crowded party.

Remove one Pokémon
/takepokemon <target> <slot> removes the Pokémon in the selected party slot from another player. Treat this as an irreversible administrative action unless you have a verified backup or a documented recovery process.

Clear a party or PC
/clearparty <target> erases a target’s party, while /clearpc <target> erases the target’s PC data. The official wiki warns that, in its documented 1.4 behavior, these commands do not ask for confirmation and immediately erase data. Do not place them in normal moderator permissions, command blocks, or automated scripts.
Restart Pokémon data
/pokemonrestart resets the command user’s Pokémon data. /pokemonrestartother <target> performs the operation for another player. Because a restart can affect more than one individual party entry, reserve both commands for senior administrators and use a backup or rollback plan first.
Spawning Pokémon and checking spawn conditions
Spawn at the current location
/spawnpokemon <pokemon> [attributes] creates the specified Pokémon near the command user. Use attributes only when you understand the syntax supported by your version. Event staff can use this for controlled encounters, but unrestricted access can undermine progression and flood a busy area.
Spawn at coordinates
/spawnpokemonat <x> <y> <z> <pokemon> [attributes] creates a Pokémon at explicit coordinates. Check the dimension and coordinates before running it; an entity spawned in an unloaded, inaccessible, or protected area may be difficult to recover.

Spawn every available Pokémon
/spawnallpokemon attempts to spawn one of every available Pokémon. The official reference warns that this can slow low-end computers. Use it only in a controlled test world or during a planned demonstration, never as a casual live-server command.
Force or inspect natural spawning
/spawnpokemonfrompool [number] attempts to force natural spawning from the configured pool. It can fail when configured spawn limits would be exceeded, so failure does not necessarily indicate a permission problem.
/checkspawn <rarity> checks spawn chance at the player’s exact position. Because the result depends on location and configuration, run it where the player is standing and interpret it as a diagnostic rather than a guarantee that an encounter will appear.
PC, starters, battles, and Pokédex administration
Open storage and starter selection
/pc opens the command user’s PC interface. /openstarterscreen <target> opens the starter-selection interface for a specified player. The second command can alter a new player’s onboarding flow, so give it only to staff who run support or events.

/stopbattle <target> stops the target’s current battle. /abandonmultiteam removes the command user from a multi-battle team. These are useful for resolving stuck battles, but stopping a battle can affect outcomes; document the reason when using it for moderation.

Grant or revoke Pokédex entries
To grant every entry in a dex, use /pokedex grant <player> all <dex>. The corresponding only form grants selected species and forms: /pokedex grant <player> only <species> <form>. Use revoke instead of grant to remove entries. Check the exact argument order in your release before applying a bulk grant or revoke.
NPC and developer commands
The wiki lists /spawnnpc, /spawnnpcat, /npcdelete, /npcedit, and /applyplayertexture for NPC work. NPC functionality is marked experimental, so test it away from a production world and expect behavior to change between releases.
Developer and testing utilities include /bedrockparticle, /cobblemon info, /freezepokemon, /opendialogue, /runmolangscript, /changeeyeheight, /changescaleandsize, and /changewalkspeed. These can affect rendering, movement, scripts, or entity state. They belong in a development or event role, not a general helper role.
How to enable and test command access
- Record the environment. Note the Minecraft version, Cobblemon version, loader, server software, and permission plugin. Keep this information with the server’s administration notes.
- Enable the required access. In a local world, enable cheats through the world settings. On a dedicated server, confirm the operator level or permission-plugin policy that controls command execution.
- Run a harmless diagnostic. Use
/cobblemon infoif it is available in your release, or test a low-impact command such as/pcwith a staff account. - Test on a noncritical account. Verify self-targeted commands first, then test a player-targeted command with written consent. Never use a live player’s only copy of valuable data for permission testing.
- Check failure messages. “Unknown command” usually points to version, loader, or alias differences. “No permission” indicates an access rule. Argument or parsing errors usually mean the syntax does not match the installed release.
- Document the grant. Record the role, node or operator level, date, and test result. Remove temporary testing access when the test is complete.
Permission nodes and least-privilege design
The official documentation establishes command behavior and the cheats prerequisite; it does not guarantee one universal permission-node layout for every loader or plugin. A fan-maintained CobbleDex reference describes names in the style of cobblemon.command.example and Minecraft fallback levels, but it is explicitly unofficial. Treat those names as a cross-check, not as a release-independent authority.
Permission plugins can expose commands by literal node, command tree, aliases, or fallback operator level. A node that works on one server may do nothing on another if the plugin integration or command registration differs. After adding a node, test the actual command with a player in that role and inspect the server log when behavior is unclear.

| Suggested role | Examples | Keep out of the role |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnostics | /cobblemon info, /checkspawn |
Player-data modification and deletion |
| Player support | /healpokemon, /pc, carefully controlled /teach |
/clearpc, resets, unrestricted edits |

Bulk deletion and restart commands |
| Senior administrators | Player-targeting edits, transfers, recovery operations | Nothing beyond the duties and backup policy |
| Developer or test staff | NPC and developer utilities | Routine production moderation access |
Separate read-only diagnostics from commands that grant or alter data. Keep destructive commands behind a narrow role, require a reason or ticket for use, and maintain backups before running resets. This design limits the impact of an incorrect target, a compromised account, or a syntax mistake.
Common failures and safe fixes
“Unknown command”
Confirm that Cobblemon is loaded on the server, not only on the client. Then compare the installed version and loader with the documentation. Check whether the command was renamed, removed, or registered under an alias. Do not substitute a similarly named command without confirming its effect.
“You do not have permission”
Verify that cheats are enabled and that the account is actually op or assigned the intended permission role. Check inheritance and fallback settings in the permission plugin. Test with a temporary, narrowly scoped role rather than granting a high operator level as a permanent workaround.
Arguments are rejected
Use the command’s in-game suggestions where available. Species identifiers, slot values, forms, moves, items, dex names, and optional attributes can vary by release. Remove optional arguments and test the smallest valid form, then add one argument at a time.
The command succeeds but the result is unexpected
Check target names, coordinates, dimension, slot, and box values. For spawning, verify configured limits and the player’s exact position. For edits or resets, stop immediately and restore from backup if the wrong player or data set was affected.
Quick Recap
Operational checklist for administrators
- Keep the official Cobblemon command reference matched to the installed release.
- Record the server’s loader, Minecraft version, Cobblemon version, and permission plugin.
- Require cheats or explicit operator/permission access; command syntax alone grants nothing.
- Use separate roles for diagnostics, support, events, development, and destructive administration.
- Test permissions with a noncritical account and remove temporary grants.
- Back up player data before using
/clearparty,/clearpc,/pokemonrestart, or/pokemonrestartother. - Remember that NPC commands are experimental and developer utilities can affect live entities or scripts.
