Cobblemon has far more than evolution stones. Its official item catalogue is organised into Utility, Natural, Consumables, Evolutionary, Held Items, Miscellaneous and Command-Only sections. Evolution Stone and Link Cable sit beside species-specific evolution objects, while held items range from berries and training aids to competitive battle equipment, weather tools and defensive gear. The catalogue is live, so confirm each entry against the Cobblemon version installed on your server or client.

What counts as an item in Cobblemon?

The official Cobblemon Wiki defines its Item category as items added to the game by Cobblemon. That is broader than a list of objects used to evolve Pokémon. It includes things you hold in battle, use directly on a Pokémon, consume, craft with, grow, collect, or access only through commands.

Category What it covers Typical reason to look there
Utility Poké Balls, Pokédex, Poké Rod and Campfire Pot Catching, information, fishing and basic activities
Natural Berries, Apricorns, Medicinal Leek, Vivichoke, Nature Mints, Galarica Nuts, Hearty Grains and Mulch Gathering, farming and preparing materials
Consumables Food, medicine, vitamins, Rare Candy, Exp. Candy, Hyper Training Candy, Ability Capsule, Ability Patch, battle medicines and status cures Healing, experience, training and ability changes
Evolutionary Evolution Stone, Link Cable and species-specific evolution objects Triggering or enabling particular evolutions
Held Items Berries, training boosts, type boosters, competitive equipment and defensive tools Giving a Pokémon a passive or battle-triggered effect
Miscellaneous Relic Coin, Smithing Templates and Pottery Sherds Collection, crafting or decoration-related uses
Command-Only Pokémon Model Features exposed through commands rather than ordinary item progression

These categories describe where an entry is filed, not necessarily how it is obtained. For example, berries can appear in natural and held-item contexts: they are resources to grow or gather, and they can also be assigned to a Pokémon.

Version warning: the list changes with Cobblemon updates

Cobblemon’s wiki is a live reference rather than a frozen, all-version database. Its main page currently presents the Make Your Move Update 1.8.0. That update adds Alpha Pokémon and TMs crafted from Type Gems in a TM Machine, changes that make Type Gems relevant beyond their appearance in the held-item catalogue.

If your server runs a different release, a name may be unavailable, moved to another category, or have a different recipe or interaction. Treat the lists below as a 1.8.0-oriented map of the official categories, then open the entry for your installed release before planning an evolution, build or farm. Do not infer a Pokémon, recipe or drop from an item name alone.

Evolutionary items: stones, Link Cable and species-specific objects

“Evolution stones” are only one part of Cobblemon’s evolutionary system. The Evolutionary section begins with Evolution Stone and Link Cable, then includes objects associated with particular species or evolution methods. Some are substitutes for a trade-style requirement; others are held, used or consumed in a species-specific interaction. The relevant Pokémon page and item page determine the exact procedure.

How to use this list safely

  1. Identify the Pokémon and the evolution condition in the entry for your Cobblemon version.
  2. Check whether the object must be held, used directly, consumed, or combined with another item.
  3. Confirm any time, location, level, move or form requirement separately; the category listing alone does not establish those conditions.
  4. Keep a spare copy when testing an unfamiliar object on a survival server, because a consumed evolutionary item may not be recoverable.

Link Cable deserves special attention because it is easy to miss when searching only for “stones.” Its placement in the Evolutionary category signals that Cobblemon supports an item-based route for at least some trade-style evolution requirements. It does not mean every trade evolution uses Link Cable, so verify the target species before spending resources.

Held items: the complete purpose map

A held item is assigned to a Pokémon and normally supplies its effect during battle or under a defined trigger. The official Held Items category mixes everyday training aids with high-impact competitive equipment. The name tells you the broad role, but the item page for your version is authoritative for activation timing, stacking rules and exceptions.

Experience, effort and training aids

The category starts with berries, Exp. Share and Lucky Egg, followed by the six Power items: Power Weight, Power Bracer, Power Belt, Power Lens, Power Band and Power Anklet. These entries are the part of the catalogue to inspect when your goal is experience distribution or targeted training rather than direct damage.

Purpose Held items
Experience and general training Berries; Exp. Share; Lucky Egg
Power-item training set Power Weight; Power Bracer; Power Belt; Power Lens; Power Band; Power Anklet
Type amplification Silk Scarf; Black Belt; Sharp Beak; Poison Barb; Soft Sand; Hard Stone; Silver Powder; Spell Tag; Charcoal Stick; Mystic Water; Miracle Seed; Magnet; Twisted Spoon; Never-Melt Ice; Dragon Fang; Black Glasses; Metal Coat; Fairy Feather; Type Gems

Type-boosting objects are useful when a moveset is built around one damage type. Type Gems are also part of the 1.8.0 TM system: the Make Your Move update describes TMs crafted from Type Gems in a TM Machine. That crafting role is separate from any battle effect a Type Gem may have in your installed release, so check both contexts.

Competitive and tactical equipment

Cobblemon also lists the familiar competitive item families: Muscle Band, Wise Glasses, Choice Band, Choice Specs, Choice Scarf, Assault Vest, Wide Lens, Zoom Lens, Scope Lens, Eviolite, Expert Belt, Absorb Bulb, Luminous Moss, Cell Battery, Binding Band, Throat Spray, Punching Glove, Loaded Dice, Metronome, Light Ball, Weakness Policy and Blunder Policy.

These items represent different decisions rather than a single “best” choice. Choice items trade flexibility for a stronger specialised role; accuracy and critical-hit lenses address reliability; Eviolite is aimed at eligible unevolved Pokémon; and policy-style items depend on a trigger such as a weakness or a miss. Use the exact version page before assuming a trigger, because battle implementations can change between Cobblemon releases.

Defensive, switching and field-control items

The defensive and tactical half of the list includes Rocky Helmet, Shell Bell, Sticky Barb, Quick Claw, Float Stone, Lagging Tail, Iron Ball, Shed Shell, Eject Button, Eject Pack, Red Card, weather rocks, terrain seeds, Terrain Extender, Light Clay, Grip Claw, Safety Goggles, Utility Umbrella, Heavy-Duty Boots, Room Service, Air Balloon, Clear Amulet, Ability Shield, Covert Cloak, Protective Pads and Ring Target.

These entries cover contact punishment, recovery, forced switching, escape from trapping, weather and terrain duration, hazard protection, stat-stage protection and immunity manipulation. “Weather rocks” and “terrain seeds” are category groupings in the official list; consult the specific item entries for the individual names and effects available in your release.

Status, longevity and risk-reward items

The remaining held-item entries include Bright Powder, the Herb items, Destiny Knot, Leftovers, Black Sludge, Toxic Orb, Flame Orb, Life Orb, Focus Band, Focus Sash, Soothe Bell, Everstone, Metal Powder, Quick Powder, Smoke Ball, Cleanse Tag and related entries shown by the official category.

This group is useful when a build depends on survival, a status-triggered strategy, breeding-related mechanics, friendship, a held-form requirement or safe movement. Do not treat similar names as interchangeable: Focus Band and Focus Sash, for example, are separate entries, and Metal Powder and Quick Powder are distinct from one another. Verify the individual page whenever the difference affects a battle plan.

Utility, natural, consumable and miscellaneous items

Utility items

Poké Balls handle capture, the Pokédex provides information, the Poké Rod supports fishing, and the Campfire Pot belongs to the basic utility set. These are not substitutes for held items: they are tools or stations used by the player.

Natural and agriculture items

Berries and Apricorns are the most recognisable natural resources. The same category also lists Medicinal Leek, Vivichoke, Nature Mints, Galarica Nuts, Hearty Grains and Mulch. Their presence signals gathering and cultivation systems, but the exact crop, recipe or growth behaviour is version-dependent.

Consumables

Consumables cover food, medicine, vitamins, Rare Candy, Exp. Candy, Hyper Training Candy, Ability Capsule, Ability Patch, battle medicines and status cures. Choose this group when the item is used up to restore health, remove a condition, provide experience, change an ability or improve training. A consumable is not automatically a held item; its activation method is the important distinction.

Miscellaneous and command-only entries

Relic Coin, Smithing Templates and Pottery Sherds appear under Miscellaneous. Pokémon Model is listed as command-only, so it should not be expected in the ordinary survival progression or creative search in the same way as a standard held or consumable item.

  1. Evolution: Start in Evolutionary. Check Evolution Stone, Link Cable and the species-specific objects, then verify the Pokémon’s exact condition.
  2. Battle damage: Compare the type-boosting items, Type Gems and competitive equipment against the moveset and the intended trigger.
  3. Training: Look at Exp. Share, Lucky Egg and the Power items; use consumables such as Rare Candy, Exp. Candy or Hyper Training Candy only when their direct-use purpose fits.
  4. Survival and switching: Inspect defensive, weather, terrain and escape items, including Heavy-Duty Boots, Air Balloon, Eject Button and Terrain Extender.
  5. Healing or status: Use the Consumables category for medicine and status cures; do not assume a berry or held status orb performs the same function.
  6. Crafting or farming: Check Natural, Utility and Miscellaneous for the material, station or collectible involved.
Activation method Where to look What to confirm
Held by a Pokémon Held Items Trigger, duration, eligibility and battle restrictions
Used directly on a Pokémon Evolutionary or Consumables Target species, level, form and whether the item is consumed
Consumed by the player or Pokémon Consumables and some Natural items Restoration, experience, status or ability outcome
Crafting ingredient or station input Natural, Utility or Miscellaneous Recipe, machine and version availability
Command access Command-Only Required command permission and non-survival availability

Common mistakes when using a Cobblemon item list

  • Searching only for stones: Link Cable and many species-specific objects are filed under Evolutionary even though they are not stones.
  • Assuming a name proves a recipe: An item’s category does not establish how it is crafted, found or dropped.
  • Mixing versions: A tutorial written for an earlier release may describe an item or interaction that changed before 1.8.0.
  • Confusing a held item with a consumable: Berries, medicine and battle tools can look similar in a storage box but activate differently.
  • Overlooking Type Gems: In the Make Your Move 1.8.0 update, Type Gems are used to craft TMs in a TM Machine, so they have a crafting role as well as their catalogue placement.
  • Treating category totals as permanent statistics: The wiki’s page count is a live navigation total and can change; it is not a fixed number of items for every release.

How to keep your personal item reference accurate

  1. Write down the Cobblemon version and mod-loader pack used by your world.
  2. Open the official wiki’s Item category and select the relevant section: Evolutionary, Held Items, Utility, Natural, Consumables, Miscellaneous or Command-Only.
  3. Read the individual item page for the installed version, especially for recipes, triggers, species lists and form requirements.
  4. Test uncertain interactions in a copy of the world before consuming a rare object or changing a competitive set.
  5. Update your notes after a Cobblemon release; the catalogue is intentionally expanded and revised over time.

The practical takeaway is that Cobblemon’s item system is a set of purpose-driven groups, not a short stone list. Use Evolutionary for stones, Link Cable and species-linked objects; Held Items for battle and training equipment; Consumables for direct-use effects; and the other categories for tools, resources, crafting materials and command features. Match the item to its activation method, then verify the entry against your installed version before acting.
