The Moto G96 5G leads on paper for display refresh rate, water-and-dust protection, battery capacity, stereo speakers and selfie-camera resolution. The CMF Phone 2 Pro offers a dedicated 2x optical telephoto camera, reported microSD expansion and a longer software-support schedule in comparison listings. A 91mobiles snapshot accessed October 7, 2026 showed an ₹8,990 price gap, but the CMF listing was out of stock and the configurations may not match—so check current prices for the same storage variant before deciding.

What is the price difference in India?
On October 7, 2026, 91mobiles displayed the CMF Phone 2 Pro at ₹18,999 and marked it out of stock, while its Moto G96 5G listing showed ₹27,989 via Amazon. The difference between those displayed amounts is ₹8,990, with the CMF lower. The listing did not establish that the prices were for matching storage variants, and the Moto amount was not an official Motorola price or a guaranteed offer. Treat this as a dated listing snapshot, not a dependable current price gap; check availability and the same RAM/storage configuration on the day you buy.

Which display is better for your use?
The CMF has the slightly larger panel at 6.77 inches, while the Moto’s 6.67-inch curved display supports up to 144Hz rather than 120Hz. Motorola also specifies a 1,600-nit peak brightness figure. Those numbers describe different advantages: size, refresh rate and a manufacturer-rated peak brightness. They do not establish which screen looks better in person, and peak brightness is not a promise of sustained brightness in every setting.
How do the cameras differ?
The rear-camera hardware takes different approaches. CMF includes a dedicated telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, useful if you want a separate lens for closer framing. Moto lists optical image stabilization (OIS) on its 50MP main camera, which can help counter camera shake. The Moto also includes an 8MP ultra-wide/macro camera with autofocus, while CMF lists an 8MP ultra-wide.
Moto’s front camera is listed at 32MP versus 16MP for CMF. Resolution alone does not establish selfie quality. Nor do the camera specifications show which phone produces better photos: that requires comparable testing across lighting, subjects and shooting modes. Choose based on the camera features you expect to use, not megapixels alone.

Battery, protection and everyday hardware
Moto’s rated battery capacity is 5,500mAh against CMF’s 5,000mAh, and Motorola specifies 33W TurboPower charging. A larger capacity does not by itself prove longer real-world battery life; screen settings, signal strength, software and usage affect runtime. The available figures do not provide a matched battery test for the two phones.
Moto’s IP68 rating is stronger ingress protection than the IP54 listed for CMF. These ratings describe protection under defined test conditions; neither makes a phone damage-proof. Motorola also lists stereo speakers, a practical advantage for media playback and speakerphone use. The comparison listing does not list stereo speakers for CMF, which is not the same as establishing every audio detail of the device.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Storage and software support
Both phones are listed with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB built-in storage. The Moto’s storage is explicitly non-expandable. CMF is reported to support microSD expansion up to 2TB, but verify card compatibility and capacity for the exact handset before relying on that ceiling.

For software, comparison listings report Android 15 at CMF’s launch, three OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Motorola lists Android 15, one OS upgrade and three years of security maintenance releases for the Moto G96 5G. The longer CMF schedule is based here on a comparison listing rather than primary confirmation visible on the captured Nothing product page, so check Nothing’s current policy for the India model before treating it as a purchase guarantee.

Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Moto G96 5G if
- You prioritize an IP68 rating, stereo speakers or the higher listed 144Hz refresh rate.
- You prefer a larger stated battery capacity or a higher-resolution front-camera specification.
- You want OIS specified on the main rear camera.
Choose the CMF Phone 2 Pro if
- You want a dedicated 2x optical telephoto camera.
- You need the option of reported microSD expansion.
- The listed longer OS and security-support schedule matters more to you, after confirming it with Nothing.
Do not choose solely on the observed ₹8,990 snapshot gap unless current listings show comparable variants in stock. The specifications identify trade-offs, not a tested overall winner: neither clock speeds alone nor camera hardware, battery capacity or display ratings establish superior real-world performance.
