Park Adventures, the first expansion in Cities: Skylines II’s Expansion Pass 2, is planned for Q4 2026. It adds a modular system for building city parks, zoos, amusement parks and nature reserves, while a substantial leisure rework and the Autumn Breeze 1.6.2f1 update improve the base game for everyone, including players who do not buy the DLC.

What Park Adventures adds

Park Adventures lets you draw a park area and develop it with buildings and attractions. You do not select a permanently fixed park category at the beginning; the park’s character emerges from what you place inside it. The expansion covers four directions:

  • City parks for everyday local recreation.
  • Zoos built around animal exhibits and visitor facilities.
  • Amusement parks focused on rides and entertainment.
  • Nature reserves centered on protected landscapes and outdoor experiences.

The package contains more than 100 new assets and five maps. Parks also become an active part of the city economy rather than functioning only as decorative land uses.

Park progression and management

Parks level up as they attract visitors. You manage ticket prices, staff budgets and maintenance, then balance those choices against visitor ratings and operating costs. A high ticket price may increase revenue per visitor but can affect demand; staffing and maintenance decisions likewise become part of keeping the park attractive. The developer description establishes these management systems, but does not provide independent performance results or a measured visitor-satisfaction improvement.

Which features are free to every player?

The most important ownership detail is that the leisure rework is not locked behind Park Adventures. Iceflake Studios says the new leisure systems and improvements to how citizens choose and use leisure destinations will be available to everyone, whether they own the expansion or not. The work began as part of developing the new parks, but the resulting core changes are being delivered to the base game.

That means a player who skips the DLC still receives the revised leisure behavior and the associated base-game improvements. The free update does not grant the paid expansion’s park assets, progression layer or park-economy controls.

Autumn Breeze 1.6.2f1: the wider base-game update

The Expansion Pass 2 announcement coincided with the free Autumn Breeze patch 1.6.2f1. Its changes reach well beyond parks and leisure:

  • Improved garbage-truck destination logic.
  • Greater effect of garbage on citizen happiness.
  • Changed company-renting priorities.
  • Adjusted residential-demand calculations for large cities.
  • Citizen spending decisions now use income rather than wealth.
  • Fixes for several vehicle and household behaviors.
  • Visual, user-interface, Asset Editor and Paradox Mods changes.

These are documented simulation, presentation and tool changes for the base game. They should not be described as a proven performance or satisfaction breakthrough: the available official material provides patch details, not independent sales, frame-rate or player-survey measurements.

What else is in Expansion Pass 2?

Paradox Interactive and Iceflake Studios announced Expansion Pass 2 on September 15, 2026. The announced bundle price was $44.99 / £37.99 / €44.99, with Paradox stating that buying the pass could be up to 24% cheaper than purchasing its contents individually. Prices and release windows are time-sensitive, so check the current store listing before buying.

Should you buy Park Adventures or the pass?

Choose Park Adventures alone if parks are your priority

Buying the expansion separately is the focused choice if your main goal is constructing zoos, amusement parks, nature reserves or upgraded city parks. You receive the paid park assets and management systems without committing to later tourism, suburban, emergency-services, radio and map content.

Choose Expansion Pass 2 if you want the full roadmap

The pass makes more sense when you expect to use several releases: the Downtown Market Set immediately, Park Adventures, the City Vacations tourism expansion, both creator packs, the radio station and the Map Pack. The stated “up to 24%” saving applies to the bundle comparison described by Paradox and is not a guarantee of a fixed saving in every currency or store promotion.

Skip the paid content if you mainly want a stronger simulation

If your interest is limited to better leisure destination behavior and the Autumn Breeze simulation, visual, UI and mod-related changes, you do not need to purchase Park Adventures. Those improvements are delivered to the base game. You will not receive the expansion’s new park assets, park leveling or park-economy controls.

What the announcement does—and does not—prove

The official material clearly establishes the feature scope, release plans and free-update spillover. It does not establish independent sales figures, performance benchmarks or player-satisfaction statistics. Treat Park Adventures as a planned Q4 2026 expansion and verify final pricing, availability and the completed feature list when it releases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the theme-park and zoo features come free to everyone?

No. The modular park-building content, new assets, park progression and park economy are paid Park Adventures features. The leisure rework and improved leisure-destination behavior are free base-game changes.

What free update comes with the parks DLC announcement?

Autumn Breeze patch 1.6.2f1, which changes garbage logistics and happiness effects, company-renting priorities, large-city residential demand and income-based spending, and includes vehicle, household, visual, UI, Asset Editor and Paradox Mods fixes.

When is Park Adventures scheduled to launch?

It is planned for Q4 2026. The date is a release window rather than a confirmed launch day.

The Bottom Line

Park Adventures is a paid Q4 2026 expansion for players who want modular parks, zoos and amusement venues. The base game still benefits without it: the leisure rework and Autumn Breeze 1.6.2f1 improvements are free, while Expansion Pass 2 is aimed at players who also want the announced tourism, creator-pack, emergency-services, radio and map releases.
