Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
To host Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG Lite, download the dedicated CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip server pack, run it with Java 17, allocate about 6 GB of RAM to start, accept Minecraft’s EULA, and expose TCP port 25565. Every player must install the identical client pack release. The pack targets Minecraft 1.19.2 on Forge.
The first launch can take several minutes while Forge and the mods register. Do not repeatedly restart a seemingly paused process; wait for the console’s Done line before treating startup as successful or failed.

CurseForge lists Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG Lite as a medieval-fantasy adventure RPG focused on custom content and performance. The project is by franciscogolden and targets Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge. The listing showed 587,371 downloads when accessed in 2026. The release identified in the listing is Cisco’s Fantasy Medieval RPG [Lite]-16f.zip, dated July 18, 2025.
There are two different downloads:
- Client pack: the ordinary pack players install in their Minecraft launcher.
- Server pack: the separate CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip archive containing server-oriented mod jars, configuration files, and a start script.
Use the server archive for a dedicated server. Starting from the ordinary client zip often leaves out server files or adds client-only content that a dedicated server cannot load.

Requirements before you begin

Step 1: Download and extract the correct archive
- Open the pack’s CurseForge project page and select the release that matches the clients you intend to run. For the release described here, that is v16f.
- Download the separate CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip server-pack file. Do not rename a client download and use it as a server pack.
- Create a dedicated directory such as
minecraft-carpg-serveron the machine that will stay online. - Extract the server archive directly into that directory. Keep the supplied start script, configuration folders, and mod jars together.
- Make a backup copy of the untouched extracted folder. It gives you a clean rollback point if a configuration change or update fails.
The server-pack size reported by FadeHost is 597 MB. That figure describes the downloaded pack, not the eventual disk space required by Forge, the world, logs, and backups.
Step 2: Install and verify Java 17
Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime or development kit on the server computer. Then open a terminal in the server directory and run:

java -version
The output should identify a Java 17 release. If it reports an older release, install Java 17 and make sure the system path points to it. If several Java versions are installed, the server script may still select the wrong one; correct the script or environment path before troubleshooting Forge.
Java version errors that appear before Forge loads are usually environment problems, not mod problems. Check java -version again from the same user account and shell that launches the server.
Step 3: Install Forge when the pack has not already done so
Many server packs include a loader installation or a start script that performs the setup. If the extracted directory does not contain an installed Forge server, obtain the Forge installer for the pack’s Minecraft 1.19.2 release and place it in the server directory. Run:

java -jar forge-installer.jar --installServer
The filename may differ if the installer has a versioned name; use the actual installer filename in your directory. The command must be run from the server folder so Forge writes its libraries and launch files beside the pack.

The server and every client need the same pack release and compatible Forge environment.
Step 4: Complete the first launch and accept the EULA
- Run the supplied start script, or the Forge server launch command created by the installer.
- Allow the process to create its initial files. The first boot registers mods and can take several minutes.
- Stop only if the console reports a clear error. If it is still processing, wait for the
Doneline. - After the first attempt creates
eula.txt, open that file and change the line toeula=true. - Save the file and start the server again.
Minecraft will not finish starting while the EULA remains false. Repeatedly killing the process before configuration generation completes can leave an incomplete setup and make the next launch appear more confusing.
Step 5: Allocate memory safely
Set the Java maximum heap to approximately 6 GB by placing -Xmx6G in user_jvm_args.txt or in the supplied startup script, depending on how the pack is configured. Leave enough RAM for the operating system and other services; assigning all physical memory to Java can cause swapping or make the host unresponsive.

FadeHost’s 6 GB guidance also accounts for the 597 MB server pack and expected growth as the world fills. These are provider estimates, not independent benchmarks. Watch memory use while players explore and generate terrain. Increase the allocation when the server regularly approaches its limit, when several players are online, or when higher view distance and active world generation create additional load. More RAM cannot compensate for an incorrect Java version, mismatched mods, or a broken Forge installation.
Step 6: Configure the network
- Give the server computer a stable address on your local network, preferably with a DHCP reservation in the router.
- Forward TCP 25565 from the router to that computer’s local address.
- Create an inbound firewall rule allowing the server’s Java process or TCP port 25565.
- Start the server and confirm that it reaches
Donebefore testing connections. - Test first from the same network using the server’s local address. Then have a friend test using your public address.
Port forwarding is unnecessary for players connecting from the same machine or, in some cases, the same local network. It is required when friends connect from the internet. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary router forwarding may not be reachable from outside; a managed host or a network solution that provides an inbound address may then be easier.
Step 7: Install the matching pack on every client
Each player should install the ordinary client version of the exact release running on the server. For this guide, that means the v16f client pack for Minecraft 1.19.2 and Forge. A client with a different release can be refused during connection or join without required content.
- Pin the same release number on the server and every launcher profile.
- Do not add or remove gameplay mods casually; a changed mod list can create a mismatch.
- Keep client-only shaders, HUDs, and texture mods on the player’s computer. Do not copy those into the dedicated server’s
modsfolder. - If a player cannot join, compare the pack release, Minecraft version, Forge version, and mod list before changing server settings.
How to tell whether startup succeeded
A successful launch ends with the server console’s Done message and leaves the process running. The first boot is slower because Forge registers the pack’s mods and creates configuration data. The elapsed time depends on the machine and storage, so a multi-minute pause is not automatically a crash.
Use this order when checking a new installation:
- Confirm Java 17 with
java -version. - Confirm the server directory came from the dedicated server archive.
- Confirm the expected Forge files and the pack’s mod jars are present.
- Confirm
eula=true. - Confirm the heap setting contains
-Xmx6Gor a deliberately chosen higher value. - Wait for
Done, then test a local connection before testing the public address.
Self-hosting versus managed hosting
Self-hosting gives you direct control over files, Java arguments, backups, firewall rules, and update timing. You supply the hardware, storage, power, network connection, and troubleshooting. A managed host shifts much of the installation and availability work to a control panel, but introduces recurring cost and provider-specific limits.

Game Host Bros documents a four-step exact-pack installation flow beginning at 6 GB. Before ordering, verify the available Minecraft and Forge versions, the panel’s file access, the server location, CPU policy, scheduled backups, and the process for changing RAM later.
Regardless of provider, select the exact server-pack release rather than a generic modded-Minecraft template. A one-click button is useful only if it installs the same pack, Forge version, and configuration that your clients use.

- Stop the server cleanly before copying its world and configuration files.
- Keep at least one backup made before every pack, Forge, or mod update.
- Record the old pack release and Java version alongside the backup.
- Update the server first in a separate test copy when possible.
- Update every client to the identical release before inviting players back.
- If the new release fails, restore the previous directory and world backup rather than repeatedly mixing files from both versions.
World data can become difficult to recover after incompatible updates. A backup is useful only if it is stored separately from the live server and can be restored.

Troubleshooting startup and connection failures
The process exits immediately with a Java version error
Run java -version from the server account. Install or select Java 17, then rerun the supplied start script. Check for a script that points to a different Java executable than the one in your interactive shell.

The console appears frozen before Done
Wait several minutes on the first boot. Mod registration and configuration generation take longer than later starts. Repeated restarts can interrupt that work and create partial files. Stop only after the console reports a definite error or the process has clearly exited.
The server refuses to start because the EULA is not accepted
Open eula.txt, change the value to eula=true, save it, and start again. The file is normally created after the initial launch attempt.
Players receive a mod or version mismatch
Compare the server’s pack release with each client’s release. Confirm Minecraft 1.19.2, Forge, and the complete mod list. Remove any client-only shader, HUD, or texture files that were mistakenly placed in the server’s mods directory.
The server runs out of memory
Start at about 6 GB, monitor usage during exploration, and move to 8 GB or more when the player count, view distance, or world generation warrants it. Confirm the host has enough physical RAM left for the operating system; simply increasing -Xmx beyond available memory can make the machine less stable.
Local players can join but friends on the internet cannot
Verify TCP port 25565 forwarding, the operating-system firewall rule, and the server’s local address. Test from outside the home network. If the public address is behind carrier-grade NAT, contact the internet provider or use a managed host that supplies reachable networking.
The server starts but contains missing content
Recheck that you used CARPG Lite v16f serv.zip, not the ordinary client zip. Restore a clean backup, reinstall the correct Forge environment, and keep client-only additions off the dedicated server.
