If you want the lower-priced 4K option, Google’s US Store listed Chromecast with Google TV (4K) at $49.99 on October 7, 2026. Google TV Streamer (4K) was listed at $149.99 and adds more listed memory and storage, Ethernet, and smart-home connectivity. The right choice depends on whether those extra features matter to your setup; the prices are dated US listings, not guaranteed current prices.

Which Chromecast or Google streaming device should you buy?

Among the two devices in Google’s US comparison, choose Chromecast with Google TV (4K) if you want 4K streaming at the lower listed price and do not need the Streamer’s built-in Ethernet or Matter and Thread features. Choose Google TV Streamer (4K) if you value those connections and its larger listed memory and storage. Those specifications alone do not show how much faster or smoother either device feels in everyday use.

This is a comparison of those two products, not a claim that they are every Chromecast model that may be available. Google’s pages do not establish whether older generations or Chromecast with Google TV (HD) are currently available new in the US. Check the exact model, seller, condition, stock, and live price before buying.

What do the prices mean for your budget?

On October 7, 2026, Google’s US Store listed Chromecast with Google TV (4K) for $49.99 and Google TV Streamer (4K) for $149.99. These are the prices displayed on that date, not a guarantee of today’s price, stock, sale status, or third-party retailer pricing. The $100 difference buys the Streamer’s additional listed capabilities; it does not, by itself, establish better value for every viewer.

Choose Chromecast with Google TV (4K) for the lower listed cost

If your priority is spending less on a 4K streaming device, the Chromecast is the less expensive of these two on Google’s dated US listing. It may be the more sensible fit when you do not need wired networking or the Streamer’s smart-home hub functions.

Pay more for the Streamer when its features fit your setup

The Streamer’s 4 GB memory and 32 GB storage are greater than the Chromecast comparison figures of 2 GB and 8 GB. It also adds built-in Ethernet and Matter and Thread connectivity. Google advertises a processor improvement compared with Chromecast with Google TV devices, but that manufacturer claim is not an independent real-world speed measurement.

Ethernet and smart-home connectivity

The Streamer includes 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet, plus a Matter hub and Thread border router. These are useful distinctions if you want a wired network connection or plan to use compatible smart-home devices.
