To invert colors on a Chromebook, open Settings > Accessibility > Display and magnification, then turn on Color inversion. To restore the usual colors, return to the same setting and turn it off.
Turn color inversion on or off

Select the time in the bottom-right corner to open Quick Settings. You can also press Alt + Shift + s.

Select Settings, then Accessibility.

Under Display and magnification, switch on Color inversion. Google describes the effect as: “Screens change from light to dark and vice versa.” (Google Chromebook Help)

To turn inversion off, follow the same path and switch Color inversion off.

For quicker access later, open Settings > Accessibility and enable Always show accessibility options in the system menu. Google documents this as a way to keep accessibility options available from the system menu; it does not document a dedicated keyboard shortcut that directly toggles Color inversion.
Choose the setting that matches what you want to change
These Chromebook display options have different effects and are configured in different places.

If your aim is to change the overall light-and-dark appearance, try Dark mode. If you want to adjust color temperature, use Night Light. If you want a specific color-vision filter, use Color correction; it is separate from full color inversion.
What to check if Color inversion is missing or unavailable

Open Settings > Accessibility and look under Display and magnification for Color inversion.

If the control is still unavailable on a work- or school-managed Chromebook, ask your administrator whether device settings are restricted. Availability can depend on management policies.
What color inversion covers
Google documents ChromeOS color inversion for high-contrast viewing of Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, and images. Its support information does not establish that inversion behaves identically in every Android or Linux app, video, or on every external display. (Google Docs Editors Help)
