If Chrome’s address bar is at the bottom of your Android screen, move it back by opening More → Settings → Address bar and selecting Top. You can also touch and hold the address bar, then tap Move address bar to the top. These options move the address bar—not a separate row of buttons.
Move Chrome’s address bar to the top
Google documents two ways to change the address bar position in Chrome for Android. Choose whichever is quicker for you:
- Through Settings: Open Chrome, tap More, then Settings → Address bar. Select Top.
- From the address bar: Touch and hold the address bar, then tap Move address bar to the top.
Google says the position can be customized in portrait mode. In landscape, the address bar stays at the top. If you want to check the change, switch to portrait orientation and look at the address bar. Google Chrome Help: Customize your address bar.
What if the bottom bar is still there?
“Bottom bar” can mean two different things: the address and search field, or a separate row of buttons such as New tab and the tab switcher. Google’s position setting is for the address bar; it does not document a way to move that separate button row.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
The address bar is at the top, but buttons are at the bottom
Check your Chrome version at More → Settings → About Chrome, and note your device details. A Chrome Community Product Expert recommends checking the version when the address bar is already at the top but buttons remain below. That is community guidance, not an official universal fix. Google Chrome Community discussion.
Be cautious with chrome://flags suggestions
Community posts may suggest changing experimental flags for a bottom button row, but those suggestions are not a confirmed, stable solution. Experimental flags can change or disappear, and Google’s help instructions for address-bar position do not direct users to change one. Avoid treating a flag recipe as equivalent to the documented Top setting.
