To change call settings, first identify which app handles the calls you want to affect: the iPhone Phone app, Microsoft Teams, Google Voice, or your mobile carrier. Each has its own controls—there is no single call-settings menu for every phone and service.
Find the settings for the service that handles your calls
“Call settings” can mean call forwarding, voicemail, caller identification, ringtone, call availability, or the microphone and speaker used during a call. These options are controlled by different apps and services. Changing a ringtone, for example, does not change where calls are forwarded.
- Calls made to your mobile number: start with the built-in Phone app or contact your carrier if the option is missing or does not work as expected.
- Calls made through a work or meeting app: change settings in that app. The app’s settings may not affect calls to your mobile number.
- Calls through Google Voice: use Google Voice settings to manage ringing devices, linked-number forwarding, and availability.
The exact labels and available controls can vary by operating-system version, account, carrier, and organization policy.

On iPhone, open the Settings app and locate the Phone settings. Select the specific option you want to change; Apple’s Phone settings include options such as caller identification apps, but the available features and labels can vary by iOS version.

Not every call feature is necessarily controlled there. Some behavior depends on your carrier, so if the option you need is absent or calls still behave differently than expected, check your carrier’s current instructions for your plan and region.
Change call handling and audio settings in Microsoft Teams
Call handling, voicemail, and ringtones
In Teams, go to Settings and more > Settings > Calls. Use this section to configure supported call-handling options, voicemail, and ringtones. The available choices can depend on your Teams platform, account setup, and organization’s administrator.

Microphone, speaker, and camera
To choose the devices Teams uses for calls and meetings, go to Settings and more > Settings > Devices. Select the microphone, speaker, or camera you want Teams to use. If your computer has a connected headset with a microphone, it may appear as a selectable audio device; you do not need a new device just to change these settings.

Check whether your audio works
Teams provides a test call that plays a recorded message back to you. Microsoft says this feature is currently available in the Teams desktop app for Windows and Mac. If the test-call option does not appear, your platform or organization’s configuration may not support it.

Manage calls and availability in Google Voice
Choose which devices ring
Open Google Voice Settings > Calls to choose which devices receive calls and which linked numbers receive forwarded calls. Turning forwarding off for a linked number stops calls from being forwarded to that number; it does not remove the number from your Google Voice account.
Set availability and handle a second call
Google Voice can manage availability with Do Not Disturb. Availability behavior can also use calendar schedules or out-of-office status. Call waiting lets you handle a second call while another call is active.

Linked-number features are not available to SIP link users, and Google Voice does not support forwarding calls to an automated system, according to Google’s help information.

Carrier-dependent features do not have one reliable set of steps for every country, phone, plan, and provider. If you cannot find a call-forwarding or other call option, or the setting does not produce the expected result, use your carrier’s current support instructions rather than trying a dial code found for another provider.

If a call setting is missing or does not work
- Identify the call path. Determine whether the call is to your mobile number or made through Teams, Google Voice, or another service.
- Check the matching app or system settings. Use the relevant section above; changing one app’s settings may not affect calls handled elsewhere.
- Check account and administrator limits. Teams options may be managed by an organization, while Google Voice features can depend on the account or connection type.
- Ask the carrier when appropriate. If the setting concerns calls to your mobile number and is not available in the phone’s settings, consult your carrier’s current instructions.
- Include the details needed for precise help. When asking for support, provide your device, operating system, app, carrier, and the specific call behavior you want to change.
