The best TV LED lights depend on what you want them to do: a basic strip gives a steady ambient glow, while camera-based and HDMI-based systems try to match light colors to the picture. Before choosing a kit, check whether it can see or access the content you watch, whether it supports your TV, and whether its strip fits your screen.
Which type of TV LED light fits your setup?
TV backlights fall into three practical categories. The main difference is whether the light stays static or reacts to what is on screen—and how the system gets that picture information.

For a simple glow, a basic strip is the least complicated fit. For reactive lighting across varied on-screen sources, a camera kit is one approach. An HDMI system may suit a setup built around connected streaming or game devices, but its coverage depends on how those devices are connected. Philips Hue: TV app or HDMI sync
Philips Hue offers two distinct routes. Its Sync TV app can sync supported Samsung and LG televisions, while its Play HDMI sync boxes work with compatible HDMI-connected devices. The TV-app route lists a compatible TV, a color-capable Hue light, an app subscription, a Hue Bridge, and the Hue app as requirements. The HDMI route requires a sync box and a compatible Hue light. Review Hue’s entertainment system guide and verify the exact route and equipment for your setup.
Hue’s guide describes its 4K box for 4K use and its 8K box as supporting resolutions up to 120 frames per second. These are manufacturer specifications; confirm the current model specifications and regional availability before purchase. A sync box only processes compatible sources routed through it, so check the connection path for each device you plan to use.

Check TV compatibility before choosing an app-based system
Hue’s support guide specifies Samsung QLED televisions from 2022 onward in the Q60 series or higher, and LG televisions from 2024 onward running webOS 24 or higher, for its Sync TV app. Those are specific eligibility conditions, not a promise that every TV from either manufacturer works. Confirm your model number and operating system against Hue’s compatibility guide, which also describes alternatives for other televisions. Compatibility and availability may vary by region and can change.
If your TV does not meet the listed conditions, consider a camera-based kit or an HDMI sync route instead, while checking what content each can cover. A camera reads the screen itself; an HDMI box depends on compatible devices connected through it.

Match the strip and kit contents to your television
Measure the back of the TV and compare it with the strip length and size variant for the exact kit. Do not assume a product name or one listed strip length applies to every screen size.
