For a Starlink Standard dish, you may not need to buy a mount at all: the kit’s detachable kickstand can support quick setup or permanent installation. If you need to attach the dish to an existing metal pole, Starlink’s Standard Pipe Adapter Mount is the clearly specified option—provided your dish is compatible and the pole measures 31–63.5 mm (1.25–2.5 in) in diameter.
Start with the mount included in your kit
Starlink says its kits come with a mounting solution. The Standard kit’s detachable kickstand can be used for quick setup or permanent installation, so first consider whether its placement and support suit your location. Additional mounts are sold through the Starlink Shop, but the right choice depends on the exact kit and installation surface. Starlink’s “Do I need a mount?” guidance also cautions that mounts can be kit-specific.
For an existing metal pole: Standard Pipe Adapter Mount
Starlink’s Standard Accessories Guide lists the Standard Pipe Adapter Mount for Starlink Standard and Enterprise. It fits a metal pole with a diameter of 31–63.5 mm (1.25–2.5 in); the pole is not included. The listed contents are the adapter, an Allen key, and 20 cable-routing clips. - Confirm that your dish is a supported Standard or Enterprise model.
- Measure the metal pole’s diameter; do not assume a fit based on how the adapter looks.
- Plan to provide the pole separately, since it is not included with the adapter.
For a listed older mount: Standard to Standard Actuated Mount Adapter
This adapter addresses a specific reuse case: you already own a compatible mount from the older Standard Actuated setup and want to use it with the newer Standard dish. Starlink lists the Short Wall Mount, Long Wall Mount, Pivot Mount, Ground Pole Mount, and Ridgeline Mount as compatible older mounts. Its guide recommends choosing a mount designed for the Standard kit for a new installation rather than buying this adapter to build a new setup. Match the accessory to the exact Starlink kit
Do not choose by appearance alone. Starlink says mounts for Standard 4, Standard 4 X, and Enterprise are not compatible with other kits. Its guidance also says mounts are kit-specific, so check the exact dish model and the accessory’s compatibility listing before purchase. Using third-party mounts: account for the limits
Starlink says: “While you can use third-party mounting solutions, please note that we cannot guarantee performance or compatibility with non-Starlink hardware.” It warns that metal wrapping around the terminal base enclosure, placing the terminal directly on metal, or locating metal near the GPS chip may interfere with GPS performance. A practical way to choose
- Identify the dish. Check the exact Starlink kit or model, then verify that the accessory listing names it as compatible.
- Decide where it will go. Consider whether you are using the included kickstand, an existing pole, or a roof or wall location.
- Measure the support. For the Standard Pipe Adapter Mount, measure the metal pole and confirm it falls within 31–63.5 mm (1.25–2.5 in).
- Choose new hardware or reuse an existing mount. For a new Standard installation, use a mount designed for that kit. Choose the Standard-to-Standard-Actuated adapter only if you already own one of the listed compatible older mounts.
- Check metal placement and instructions. Keep metal away from the terminal base enclosure and GPS-chip area, and follow the relevant installation guide.
