The best singing mic for your iPhone depends first on its connector. For a USB-C iPhone, the Shure MV88 USB-C is the most direct option in this guide; for a Lightning iPhone or a phone-mounted recording setup, consider the Shure MV88+ Video Kit. If you want to hold a microphone and monitor through headphones, the IK Multimedia iRig Mic HD 2 is a better fit. These are picks by use case, not a tested sound-quality ranking.
Check your iPhone port before choosing a mic
USB-C and Lightning iPhones do not share the same direct connection. Check the port on your phone, then confirm the exact cable or adapter included with the microphone and that it works with your phone and recording app. The MV88 USB-C plugs directly into a USB-C device, while the MV88+ Video Kit and iRig Mic HD 2 include Lightning cables as well as USB-C or USB cables, respectively. Choose the MV88 USB-C for a compact direct plug-in
Shure describes the MV88 USB-C as a direct-connect microphone and lists adjustable stereo, mono cardioid, mono bidirectional, and raw mid-side patterns, plus five presets including Singing. Its small format suits a singer who wants to attach a mic to a USB-C phone without assembling a mounted rig. Choose the MV88+ Video Kit for a mount, cables, and monitoring
The kit includes a phone clamp, Manfrotto PIXI mini tripod, shoe mount, Lightning and USB-C cables, and a headphone output. Shure lists five DSP presets, including Singing, and its product page specifies 24-bit/48 kHz capture. A cable connection also avoids the direct-plug clearance issue when a phone case is too bulky. Choose the iRig Mic HD 2 if you want to hold the mic
This is a handheld digital condenser microphone intended for speech, vocals, and instruments. IK documents a cardioid capsule, onboard gain, headphone output for direct monitoring, Lightning and USB cables, and 24-bit recording at sample rates up to 96 kHz. Choose the iRig Mic Lav for a clip-on, hands-free setup
The iRig Mic Lav clips to clothing and uses an omnidirectional capsule, so it serves a different purpose from a handheld vocal mic or a phone-mounted stereo mic. IK describes it for mobile recording and says two lavs can be chained to one device, a potentially useful arrangement for two people. Connection and setup checks
