The most useful gaming PC accessories are a mouse and keyboard that suit the games you play and feel comfortable at your desk. Add a headset if you want game audio and voice chat, and consider a mouse pad if you need more room for controlled movement. Compare a gaming mouse by how it feels in your hand, how reliably it tracks your movement, whether its sensitivity can be adjusted, and whether you prefer a cable or wireless freedom. A higher DPI figure alone does not establish that a mouse is better or guarantee a competitive advantage.

When a gaming mouse pad is worthwhile
A mouse pad is an optional surface accessory. A larger gaming mouse pad can give you more room to move, which may suit low-sensitivity play. Some pads are large enough to fit both keyboard and mouse; whether that works for you depends on available desk space and how much surface you want to cover.

Choosing a gaming headset
A headset is a practical choice if you want game audio and voice communication in one accessory. Choose according to your own priorities for fit, sound and microphone use. Controllers, streaming cameras, USB microphones and lighting make sense for particular setups, not as universal requirements for PC gaming. A controller may suit a game or play style that favors one; a camera, microphone and lighting are relevant if you want to stream. Check that any extra meets your specific needs rather than treating a larger setup as inherently better.

A practical way to build your setup
- Start with your games. Identify whether precise mouse control, programmable buttons, particular keys or voice communication matter to the way you play.
- Choose your mouse for feel and use. Compare comfort, adjustable sensitivity, tracking and cable preference; do not select by DPI alone.
- Match the keyboard to your hands and desk. Decide which switch feel you like and whether you need a number pad and dedicated arrow keys.
- Add a headset or pad if it addresses a real need. Consider voice chat and audio for a headset, or movement room and desk space for a mouse pad.
- Leave specialized extras until you need them. Add a controller or streaming gear based on your games and activities, not because every PC setup is expected to have them.
