Neither Samsung nor Motorola is the best choice for every buyer. Compare phones at the same price tier and in the same form factor: Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is a conventional flagship, while Motorola’s Razr 2026 is a clamshell foldable. The Razr’s cover-screen convenience and the Galaxy’s zoom-camera hardware suit different priorities, so choose by the exact model, regional price and support commitment—not by brand name alone.

Start with equivalent phones, not brand reputations

Samsung sells phones across several tiers, and Motorola’s lineup includes the Edge, Razr and Moto G families. A premium Galaxy does not represent every Samsung phone; the foldable Razr does not represent every Motorola phone. Android Central’s Motorola buying guide explains the distinctions among those product families and notes that features and update commitments vary by model.

For a fair comparison, match the models’ form factors and prices in your country, including storage configuration and current discounts. A conventional Galaxy S model should be compared with a conventional Motorola model in a similar tier. Compare the Razr with another clamshell foldable. The Galaxy S26 Ultra and Razr 2026 are useful examples of each company’s current offerings, but they are not direct alternatives.

What do the current examples offer?

Phone Form and display Notable hardware Best fit by design
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Conventional smartphone; 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh 200 MP main camera, 50 MP ultrawide, 10 MP 3x telephoto and 50 MP 5x telephoto; Samsung specifies 3x and 5x optical zoom Shoppers who want a large-screen flagship with multiple optical zoom ranges
Motorola Razr 2026 Clamshell foldable; 6.9-inch Extreme AMOLED internal display plus a cover screen 4,800 mAh battery, 30 W TurboPower wired charging and wireless charging Shoppers who specifically want a foldable phone and cover-screen interactions

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent camera or performance scores. Samsung’s February 25, 2026 U.S. announcement lists 6.3-inch and 6.7-inch displays for the Galaxy S26 and S26+, respectively, as well as the S26 Ultra specifications above (Samsung Newsroom). Motorola’s Razr 2026 product page lists its display, battery and charging details.

Choose the form factor that fits how you use a phone

Pick a conventional Galaxy if you want a familiar flagship design

A conventional phone stays open and ready for the full display. The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s published camera hardware includes two telephoto lenses, with specified 3x and 5x optical zoom. That makes its lens coverage a relevant point for shoppers who often photograph subjects at different distances. Megapixels and lens specifications alone do not establish which phone takes better photos; that requires comparable independent image testing.

Pick the Razr if the clamshell is the point

The Razr folds shut, making its compact folded shape and cover-screen use central to the choice. TechRadar’s reviewer used the Razr 2026 as a personal device for two weeks and found the cover screen useful for messaging, Google Maps, calendar checks and fitness information without opening the phone. The reviewer also observed delays when handing apps off between screens. Those are one reviewer’s hands-on impressions of this model, not findings about every Motorola phone (TechRadar’s Razr 2026 review).

It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
  • Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
  • Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.

Motorola says Flex View lets users prop the phone for hands-free photos and use the main camera for selfies while the phone is closed. Consider whether you will actually use those foldable-specific features; if not, a conventional phone may be a more practical comparison.

Compare camera evidence, not just megapixels

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s official specifications show a 200 MP main camera and two optical telephoto ranges, 3x and 5x. That describes hardware coverage, not the quality of finished images. Motorola’s product page describes the Razr’s features but does not provide a comparable independent camera score in the cited evidence. Do not conclude that one brand takes better photos across its lineup from these two different devices or from megapixel counts alone.

If camera quality is decisive, look for independent tests of the exact models you can buy, especially samples in the conditions you care about: low light, moving subjects, portraits or zoom. Do not treat a review of one Razr or one Galaxy as a verdict on all phones from either company.

Make battery comparisons carefully

Motorola lists a 4,800 mAh battery and 30 W wired charging for the Razr 2026, and claims “over 36 hours” of battery life. That runtime is the manufacturer’s claim, not a standardized independent test. Tom’s Guide reports that the Galaxy S26 lasted 11 hours 28 minutes in its 2026 battery test and lists 25 W wired and 15 W wireless charging (Tom’s Guide’s Galaxy S26 guide).

Check software support for the exact model and region

Motorola’s support listing for the Razr 2026 identifies Android 16 at launch, Android 17 as the next OS version, and security updates ending in September 2030, with at least bi-monthly security maintenance releases. Motorola warns that dates and support cycles may vary by channel and region. Check the listing that applies to your specific device before buying (Motorola’s software security update page).

A matching current support schedule for a specific regional Galaxy S26 model is not established here, so these details do not support a numerical Samsung-versus-Motorola update comparison. Check each manufacturer’s official support information for the exact model and regional SKU, and distinguish Android version upgrades from security updates.

Factor in foldable repair and current price

Foldable-screen damage deserves particular consideration. Android Central notes that foldable screens can be more difficult and costly to repair if damaged. That is a practical repair consideration, not evidence of a measured failure rate or a controlled durability comparison between the Razr and a particular Samsung phone. Before choosing a foldable, check the repair options and costs available where you live.

TechRadar reported U.S. starting pricing of $799.99 and U.K. starting pricing of £799.99 for the Razr 2026 at the time of its 2026 review. These are dated review-time prices, not guaranteed current listings. The review also noted that the previous model could be a better value if discounted and still in stock. Check live prices, trade-in offers and stock in your country before deciding; a discount can change the value comparison.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose a Galaxy S26 Ultra-type phone if you want a conventional flagship and value the listed 3x and 5x optical telephoto hardware. The Ultra’s camera specifications do not describe every Galaxy model.
  • Choose the Razr 2026 if you specifically want a clamshell foldable and expect to use its cover screen and Flex View features. Be comfortable with the repair considerations and check regional support details.
  • Compare another tier if your budget or priorities point to a standard phone rather than a premium flagship or foldable. Match Samsung’s and Motorola’s specific models by price, form factor and regional availability.

The evidence here does not establish a universal winner for reliability, overall camera quality, software experience or value across both brands. Those judgments require model-specific evidence and the prices and support terms available to you.
