For an ordinary website or a portfolio of sites, Hosting.com is the more direct fit. Rackspace is better suited to businesses evaluating customized, single-tenant infrastructure and managed enterprise operations. They sell different kinds of services, so there is no meaningful universal winner: compare the workload, management needs, and full contract cost before choosing.

Are Rackspace and Hosting.com the same kind of hosting?

No. Hosting.com’s compared offering includes managed website plans that run sites in isolated containers on managed servers with dedicated CPU and RAM. It also offers managed servers, where a customer gets the whole server while Hosting.com continues to manage it. The provider says customers can move between these tiers on the same platform. Hosting.com’s plan comparison lists Starter, Pro, and Max website plans alongside managed-server options.

Rackspace describes its managed hosting as single-tenant dedicated infrastructure for mission-critical and I/O-intensive applications. Its service can include infrastructure and operational management, network services, managed storage and backup, disaster recovery, and connectivity to AWS, Microsoft Azure, and OpenStack. It is a customized, quote-led offering rather than a directly comparable standard website-hosting plan. Rackspace’s managed-hosting overview describes the service.

Which provider fits your situation?

Choose Hosting.com for a conventional website or site portfolio

Hosting.com is the more natural starting point if you need managed hosting for a business website, several sites, or a project that may grow from a website plan to a managed server. Its comparison page lists 15 GB, 50 GB, and 100 GB of NVMe storage for the website plans, and 100 GB and 150 GB for the listed 4 GB and 8 GB managed servers. Site-count limits and other features vary by tier; the page says its control panel can support unlimited sites on managed servers.

The same comparison page lists a hosting.com control panel, backups, API access, automatic SSL, email administration, per-site isolation, free migrations, and 24/7 in-house support. It also publishes a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 99.95% uptime SLA for the compared plans. These are provider-published terms and claims, not independent measurements of uptime or performance. Check the exact plan and terms before relying on any feature or limit.

Consider Rackspace for dedicated enterprise infrastructure

Rackspace may be worth evaluating when a workload calls for a single-tenant environment, specialized networking, hybrid-cloud connectivity, or a managed operations relationship for a mission-critical application. The service scope and price depend on the configuration and agreement; the reviewed managed-hosting page directs prospects to request a quote.

Rackspace’s investor-relations page lists an AI infrastructure announcement dated September 10, 2026, and a Rackspace Cloud launch announcement dated August 25, 2026. Those announcements indicate enterprise infrastructure and AI are part of the company’s current direction; they do not establish that a particular offering is suitable for a small website. Rackspace’s press-release page provides the announcements.

What will each option cost?

The reviewed Rackspace managed-hosting material does not publish a standard monthly price. Ask for a quote based on the required infrastructure, management scope, and contract. Rackspace’s AWS pricing documentation says service fees are additional to AWS infrastructure rates and explains that fees appear in the customer portal; that information applies to Rackspace’s AWS service fees, not to every Rackspace managed-hosting configuration. Rackspace’s pricing documentation explains the AWS fee arrangement.

Hosting.com’s comparison page presents plan features and storage, but the reviewed pages do not establish one universal currency or billing term. Check the price, currency, introductory term, renewal amount, and included features for your region at checkout. The provider’s plans page uses a USD currency parameter, but that should not be treated as a universal quote or promise of a particular renewal price.

How to compare the offers before committing

  1. Match the service category to the workload. For a website or site portfolio, compare Hosting.com website plans and managed servers. For a dedicated, hybrid, or enterprise operations requirement, ask Rackspace to scope the managed service.
  2. Calculate the full contract cost. Include the intended term, renewals, migration work, and any separate infrastructure or service fees. Hosting.com’s checkout terms depend on region and billing selection; Rackspace’s managed-hosting offer is quote-led.
  3. Confirm the resource model. Establish whether the proposal uses isolated website resources, a whole managed server, or single-tenant dedicated infrastructure, and ask what CPU, memory, storage, and capacity limits apply.
  4. Assign operational responsibilities. Get written details on who patches, monitors, backs up, and secures each component, along with the support scope, escalation path, and applicable SLA wording.
  5. Plan the move and growth path. Ask how migration works, what access and control panel are included, whether cloud integrations are needed, and what changes if the workload grows or needs to move elsewhere.

Is Hosting.com the new A2 Hosting?

Hosting.com identifies A2 Hosting, LLC as the company trading as “hosting.com.” Its about page says the brand combines World Host Group and A2 Hosting. That explains the connection for people familiar with the A2 Hosting name; Hosting.com is not a Rackspace subsidiary or former brand. See the provider’s company details and about page.

Is either host proven faster or more reliable?

The published information here does not establish a controlled head-to-head speed or uptime winner. Hosting.com’s 99.95% figure is its published SLA for the compared plans, not an independently measured result. Compare the actual SLA and remedies in the contract, then test a representative application if performance is decisive.
