For customer service, the right AI voice bot depends less on a universal “best” ranking than on your existing contact-center stack, the calls you need it to handle, and how it hands difficult cases to people. This shortlist covers five options to investigate: Amazon Connect with Amazon Lex, PolyAI, Sierra, Genesys Cloud CX, and Google Contact Center AI. They represent different product shapes, and the available evidence does not establish a comparative resolution-rate winner.
What an AI voice bot does—and what the label can hide
An AI voice bot, also called a voice agent, conducts inbound or outbound phone conversations, answers questions, completes supported tasks, and can route callers to human agents. The label does not describe one standard architecture: a product may be part of a full contact-center suite, a specialist agent layer connected to existing systems, or a broader customer-experience platform.
That distinction matters when comparing options. A capable conversation is not enough if the system cannot access the right customer record, complete the requested transaction, or pass useful context to an agent. Treat each entry below as a candidate to validate against your systems and call mix—not as a ranked lab result.

Amazon Connect with Amazon Lex: consider the AWS route
This combination is a plausible starting point for organizations already using AWS or looking for a cloud contact-center and bot stack. The available category coverage names the pairing, but does not establish detailed features, regional availability, or pricing. Confirm those particulars for your location, edition, call flows, and existing telephony before treating it as a fit.

PolyAI: evaluate a specialist conversational assistant
PolyAI describes a customer-service assistant designed for natural caller speech, interruptions, accents, dialects, and noisy environments. Its AWS Marketplace listing identifies it as an official Amazon Connect technology partner. The company also describes prebuilt integrations, a Connect Portal, open APIs, and support for voice among its channels. These are vendor descriptions, not independent comparative test results; use a pilot to check performance on your callers and workflows.
Sierra: assess cross-channel task handling and outcome pricing
Sierra’s AWS Marketplace listing describes a SaaS agent for tasks such as returns, case resolution, and transaction completion across voice, chat, email, and messaging. Its listed pricing has two components: a platform charge offered privately and outcome units tied to defined valuable results rather than every conversation attempt. Ask the vendor to define the billable outcomes and how unsuccessful, repeated, or escalated interactions are treated in your proposed contract.

Genesys Cloud CX: look beyond the voice-bot feature list
Genesys Cloud CX is a broader contact-center platform. Its official pricing page presents voice, speech-enabled IVR, virtual agents, native bots, and AI Experience tokens as plan capabilities, and lists third-party bot and CRM integrations with plan or add-on distinctions. The CX 4 figure in the table is a plan price, not an all-in quote for a deployed voice bot. The page warns that prices can change and usage charges may apply; verify the current edition, included capabilities, token consumption, and any add-ons against your intended deployment.

Google Contact Center AI: make verification the first step
Google Contact Center AI appears in category coverage, but the available product evidence here is not detailed enough to support a specific feature or fit claim. Before adding it to a final shortlist, check its current official documentation for supported call workflows, telephony and CRM integrations, languages, deployment requirements, and pricing. Apply the same verification standard to other names sometimes surfaced in broad category roundups, including Cognigy, Microsoft Nuance, Parloa, Replicant, Retell AI, Synthflow, and IrisAgent.

How to choose a voice agent for your support setup
Start with the systems and outcomes the bot must support, then compare vendors on the same call scenarios. A shortlist based only on a feature checklist can miss integration work, handoff quality, or usage costs that determine whether a deployment succeeds.
- Architecture: Decide whether you need a full contact-center suite, a specialist agent that connects to your existing platform, or another kind of voice service.
- Systems access: Check compatibility with your CCaaS or telephony, CRM, knowledge base, identity and authentication tools, and workflow systems. Confirm which integrations are native, which require an add-on, and which need custom work.
- Call and channel scope: Specify inbound versus outbound calls, supported languages, peak concurrency, and whether the same agent must continue across chat, email, or messaging.
- Task and escalation behavior: Identify the transactions the bot may complete, how it authenticates a caller, when it must stop, and what context a human agent receives at transfer.
- Operating model: Ask who configures and maintains the agent, how changes to policies and knowledge are managed, and what support is included after launch.
- Commercial terms: Compare the platform fee, per-user or usage charges, outcome definitions, minimum commitment, implementation costs, support tier, and overage rules. The pricing models in this shortlist are not directly comparable from headline figures alone.
Run a controlled pilot before committing
Have each finalist handle the same representative call set, using the same integrations and evaluation rubric wherever possible. Include routine requests, edge cases, noisy audio, callers with varied accents, interruptions, authentication, and scenarios that should be escalated. Record the results by scenario and inspect failures rather than relying on a single overall score.

- Your favorite music and content – Play music, audiobooks, and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and others or via Bluetooth throughout your home.
- Alexa is happy to help – Ask Alexa for weather updates and to set hands-free timers, get answers to your questions and even hear jokes. Need a few extra minutes in the morning? Just tap your Echo Dot to snooze your alarm.
- Keep your home comfortable – Control compatible smart home devices with your voice and routines triggered by built-in motion or indoor temperature sensors. Create routines to automatically turn on lights when you walk into a room, or start a fan if the inside temperature goes above your comfort zone.
- Do more with device pairing – Fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms, or create a home theatre system with Fire TV.
- Say goodbye to drop-offs and buffering - With eero Built-in, Echo Dot doubles as a mesh wifi extender, adding up to 1,000 sq. ft. of wifi coverage to your existing eero network.
- Define success before the pilot. Track correct resolution, task completion, and containment confirmed by the customer—not merely whether the bot kept the call.
- Assess the handoff. Measure whether escalation was appropriate, whether transfer context was complete and accurate, and whether the caller had to repeat information.
- Check conversation quality. Evaluate latency, interruption handling, speech recognition across representative accents and noise conditions, and response accuracy against approved policies.
- Test safety and recovery. Verify authentication, policy compliance, handling of unsupported requests, and recovery when a system lookup or transaction fails.
- Calculate cost per successful task. Use your expected call volume and the vendor’s written billing definitions to include platform, usage, outcome, implementation, and support charges.
These measures are a proposed evaluation framework, not published comparative results for the vendors above. No independent head-to-head resolution-rate comparison is established in the available sources.
Compare quotes on the same assumptions
Ask every provider to price the same expected monthly call minutes, peak concurrency, languages, integrations, support level, and successful task volume. Request written clarification on what counts as a completed outcome, what is billed when a bot fails or escalates, and how usage changes affect the bill. For any annual or per-user plan, separate license cost from telephony, AI usage, implementation, and optional add-ons so the total deployment cost is visible.
