There isn’t one switch that blocks every video or mention of a subject across YouTube. Choose the control that matches what you want to stop: block a channel’s interactions, hide someone from your own channel, reduce recommendations, or restrict what a child can watch.
Choose the YouTube control that fits your goal

Block a channel to stop interactions
YouTube’s channel-block control is for unwanted interactions such as messages and mentions, not for removing all of a channel’s videos from YouTube. On Android, you can block someone directly from live chat:
- Open the live chat where the person is posting.
- Tap the person’s message.
- Select Block.

Hide a user from your own channel
If you manage a YouTube channel and want a person’s activity hidden from your channel’s audience, use Hide user in YouTube Studio. This is a creator-moderation setting, distinct from blocking a channel as a viewer. YouTube says the person is not notified.

Hide someone from a comment
- Open the comment on your channel.
- Select the menu beside the comment.
- Choose Hide user from channel.
Add someone in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Settings → Community moderation → User management → Hidden users.
- Paste the person’s channel URL into the list.
- Save the change.
Hidden activity includes comments, live chats, and community posts on your channel. To show future comments again, remove the person from Hidden users. See YouTube’s instructions for hiding or unhiding users.
Reduce videos from a channel in recommendations
For an unwanted video in recommendations, open the menu beside it and choose Not interested. To see fewer recommendations from a particular creator, choose Don’t recommend channel where that option appears, such as on supported Home or Watch Next surfaces. These controls tune recommendations; they do not promise to remove every video by that creator or prevent the channel from appearing in search.

YouTube also says that deleting and turning off watch history can remove video recommendations from Home. That changes recommendations more broadly than giving feedback on one video or channel. Follow YouTube’s recommendation controls guidance for current steps.

For a child with a supervised account, a parent uses the linked parent account to block a channel from its channel page or in the YouTube app. The block applies to that child’s account and covers uploads from the selected channel. It does not catch reuploads or similar channels. See YouTube’s supervised account channel-blocking instructions.

Use YouTube Kids for stronger curation
YouTube Kids provides parental controls to block individual videos or channels. Parents can also set the experience to Approved content only, limiting viewing to content they select, or turn Search off to restrict discovery. These options provide more control over what a child can find than a recommendation preference, but YouTube cautions that its systems are not perfect and a child may still encounter content a parent would not want.
