For a compact travel mouse, Microsoft’s Surface Arc Mouse is the clearest fit: it folds flat for carrying and curves to turn on. If you want both USB and Bluetooth or need to pair one mouse with several computers, consider the Surface Precision Mouse. The Surface Mouse is a simpler Bluetooth option. These are feature-based matches from Microsoft’s specifications, not results from independent testing.
Before choosing, check your particular Surface Pro or laptop’s Bluetooth support. Microsoft’s setup guides for the Arc Mouse and Surface Mouse specify Bluetooth 4.0 or later; the Precision Mouse also requires Bluetooth 4.0 or later for wireless use, though it can connect by USB.

Microsoft’s support and product pages describe setup and specifications, not comparative testing or how comfortable each mouse will feel for a particular person. Choose by connection, portability, and controls rather than treating this as a universal ranking.
Microsoft Surface Arc Mouse: prioritize portability
The Microsoft Surface Arc Mouse is the travel-oriented choice of these three. Microsoft describes a design that snaps flat for carrying and curves into its powered-on position. It lists Bluetooth 4.1, vertical and horizontal scrolling, two AAA alkaline batteries, and a weight of 2.91 ounces (82.49 grams) including batteries. Set it up
- Confirm the PC runs Windows 10 or Windows 11 and supports Bluetooth 4.0 or later, as required by Microsoft’s Surface Arc Mouse setup guide.
- Snap the mouse into its curved position to turn it on. Microsoft says snapping it flat turns it off.
- Hold the pairing button until the LED flashes, then complete Bluetooth pairing on the PC.
Microsoft Surface Precision Mouse: connect to several computers
Choose the Surface Precision Mouse if you want the option of Bluetooth or a wired USB connection, or if pairing with several computers matters. Microsoft lists Bluetooth 4.0 or later for wireless use and support for pairing with up to three computers. Its product page also lists a rechargeable battery and customizable buttons. Know what Smart Switching and customization require
Do not assume that advanced controls work on every host. Microsoft says customization and Smart Switching use Mouse and Keyboard Center, and Smart Switch setup requires that software on the paired computers. Support depends on the operating system, so check Microsoft’s product and support information for the computers you plan to use before relying on these features.

Microsoft Surface Mouse: choose a simple Bluetooth option
The Surface Mouse is the straightforward Bluetooth alternative in this group. Microsoft’s setup guide specifies a PC running Windows 10 or Windows 11 with Bluetooth 4.0 or later. The mouse has a power and pairing control on the bottom and uses two AAA batteries. The guide provides setup details rather than comparative testing; consult Microsoft’s Surface Mouse instructions for its pairing steps.
Check compatibility before buying
The Bluetooth requirements are host requirements, not a model-by-model compatibility guarantee for every Surface Pro generation. Confirm the Bluetooth version supported by your exact Surface Pro or laptop, and verify the operating system requirement in the relevant Microsoft setup guide. For the Precision Mouse, consider USB if you need a wired connection or your host’s wireless setup does not meet the stated Bluetooth threshold.

Make the choice by how you work
