The right micro FPV drone is the one that works with your existing goggles and radio, suits the space where you plan to fly, and has a battery setup you understand. “Micro” has no universal size cutoff in the sources available here; small ducted whoops, such as 65 mm and 75 mm models, are a practical place to start when choosing a compact quad for indoor or close-range flying.
What to check before choosing a micro FPV drone
Start with compatibility rather than a headline feature. A drone may use analog video or a digital system, and its radio receiver follows a particular protocol. Those choices determine whether it can work with the equipment you already own.
- Video: Identify the video system and confirm that your goggles or video receiver support it. The EMAX Tinyhawk Nanoscout Pro listing offers analog and HDZero variants; these are distinct configurations, not interchangeable labels.
- Radio: Check the receiver protocol against your transmitter. EMAX says both Nanoscout Pro variants include an ExpressLRS 2.4 GHz receiver. CaddxFPV lists an ELRS V3.5 receiver for the Curve Micro 16 HD.
- Package type: BNF means “bind and fly,” not a complete ready-to-fly kit. EMAX says the Nanoscout Pro buyer must provide a compatible radio and goggles or video receiver.
- Battery: Check whether a pack is included, its connector, and which capacities the model supports. Do not assume batteries or spare parts fit across different whoops.
- Flying space: These small ducted quads are relevant to indoor and close-range use, but the product specifications alone do not establish comparative control, durability, noise, or value.
How the two documented examples differ
The table compares manufacturer listing details, not independently tested performance. Configurations and availability can change, so confirm the current product page before ordering.

If you already have analog goggles
Check the exact Nanoscout Pro variant: EMAX lists an analog version as well as an HDZero version. Confirm the radio and video equipment requirements for the selected configuration rather than relying on the model name alone.

If you use HDZero equipment
The HDZero Nanoscout Pro variant is the relevant option among these examples. Verify that your goggles or receiver support the system and that your transmitter can bind to its ExpressLRS 2.4 GHz receiver.
If you want a 75 mm whoop with HD video
CaddxFPV lists the Curve Micro 16 HD as a 75 mm, 1S model with 1080p/120fps video. Its compatible batteries are separate purchases and require the stated A30 connector. Treat the stated flight-time figures as manufacturer claims, not a head-to-head result.

If you need a complete ready-to-fly package
Neither example should be assumed to include everything needed to fly. The Nanoscout Pro is explicitly BNF; the CaddxFPV listing identifies a receiver and charger, but verify the full package contents and the goggles, transmitter, and battery requirements before purchase.
Battery and spare-part checks
Battery details are model-specific. CaddxFPV identifies 1S 580 mAh and 680 mAh batteries with an A30 connector and says batteries are sold separately. EMAX says one 1S 320 mAh battery is included with the Nanoscout Pro. These details do not establish compatibility between the models.

- Check whether a replacement battery, propeller, or other spare is explicitly listed for your model before buying it.
- For a BNF model, account for the separate compatible radio and video equipment; a receiver protocol alone does not guarantee that every transmitter or goggle set will work.
U.S. flight rules still apply to tiny whoops
A small aircraft is not exempt from aviation requirements. For recreational flying in the United States, FAA guidance requires flying only for recreation, following an FAA-recognized community-based organization’s safety guidelines, keeping the aircraft within visual line of sight or using a co-located visual observer in direct communication, yielding to other aircraft, observing airspace authorization and altitude limits, taking TRUST and carrying proof, and meeting applicable registration and Remote ID rules. The FAA says recreational aircraft in Class G airspace must remain at or below 400 feet. Check current requirements and the actual location’s airspace before flying: FAA recreational flyer guidance.
For Part 107 operations, the FAA states: “If you use First Person View or similar technology, you must have a visual observer always keep your drone within unaided sight (for example, no binoculars).” Part 107 also has operational, registration, and pilot-certification requirements; consult the FAA’s current guidance: Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Regulations (Part 107). These are U.S. rules; pilots elsewhere should check their own aviation authority’s requirements.

Flying around other people and property
An FAA-hosted advisory committee report discusses ways to engage communities around FPV events. It suggests demonstrating how small tiny-whoop aircraft are, offering stakeholders a simulator experience, and acknowledging that most FPV drones have a higher-pitched sound. These are engagement suggestions in the report, not quantified findings about noise or risk. Ask permission where appropriate and be considerate when flying near homes, businesses, or events: FAA Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee materials.
