For most people, “dual-screen monitor” means two separate displays on a desk. A portable dual-panel monitor is a different product from two separate desk monitors: it combines two displays in a foldable or hinged unit intended to travel with a laptop. Check operating-system support and video output before buying; a USB-C socket alone does not guarantee that a computer can send video to the unit.

ASUS ZenScreen Duo OLED MQ149CD
ASUS lists two 14-inch OLED panels, each with 1920 × 1200 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio, dual USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode, mini-HDMI, a 360-degree hinge, and a weight of 1.07 kg. ASUS ZenScreen Duo MB14FCD
ASUS lists two 14-inch 1920 × 1200 IPS panels, USB-C power pass-through, mini-HDMI, and split, independent, mirror, and extend modes. ASUS also notes that some MacBook and phone configurations cannot extend to a second external display in the described mode. Check your exact computer, port, graphics capability, and intended display mode against ASUS’s compatibility and product information.

ViewSonic VG1457
ViewSonic lists two foldable 14-inch WUXGA panels in a 2.6-pound unit, five viewing modes, dual USB-C inputs, and 65W two-way Power Delivery. In a U.S. announcement dated June 9, 2026, ViewSonic said the model was shipping and gave an estimated street price of $349.99; that is dated launch information, not a current price quote. LG +view 16MR70: a single-screen alternative
This is a portable second monitor, not a dual-panel unit. LG says the connected device must support DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery above 7.5 W, and describes a dual-monitor setup via USB-C. See LG’s product information.

Start with the form factor
- Two separate desk monitors: A better fit when the displays will usually stay in one workspace and you want to choose their sizes and positions separately.
- Portable dual-panel unit: Consider one when you need two extra displays to travel with a laptop and accept a hinged, compact layout. Check weight, modes, and host compatibility first.
- One portable companion screen: A simpler option if you need only one additional display and want a screen that can sit beside or above the main monitor.
Match resolution and size to the work
Resolution affects how much detail fits on a screen: the desk options here range from Full HD to 5K, while the cited portable dual-panel models use 14-inch 1920 × 1200 panels. A 27-inch Full HD option may suit ordinary productivity on a budget, but it offers less pixel detail than a 4K or 5K display. Larger displays also need more desk space, so a 32-inch monitor may be a poor fit where the available surface is limited.

Check color coverage and brightness claims
For work where color matters, compare the specific color-gamut figures and the calibration or measurement evidence behind them. Product-page claims such as the MQ149CD’s 100% DCI-P3 and Delta E <2 are manufacturer specifications; they should not be read as independent test results. Peak brightness figures also differ by model, and a stated peak does not by itself establish how comfortable a screen will be in your particular room.

Before purchasing, confirm the computer’s graphics capability, operating system, port specifications, and number of supported external displays. For USB-C portable monitors, look specifically for DisplayPort Alt Mode support; the KYY X90E review’s compatibility warning illustrates why the connector shape alone is not enough. Check whether the display’s supported modes match your intended use, especially with a MacBook or phone.

Account for ports, power, and workspace
Desk monitors with USB-C or DisplayPort can simplify a multi-display setup, but port behavior matters: the U2723QE’s reported USB-C resolution/data-speed trade-off is a reminder to check the mode you need. For portable units, review power delivery and whether the host must power the screens. Compare weight and folded size with the way you actually travel; a two-panel unit adds more screen area but is not equivalent to carrying a single portable display.
