There is no playable disc in the Chinese-region GTA 6 PS5 package. The listing is a box containing a download code for the Standard Edition. Rockstar Games says, “A disc will not be included in the box,” and confirms that “A physical version of the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition is not available.” Buyers who want Ultimate content must redeem the Standard code first, then purchase the digital Ultimate Edition Upgrade.
What the Chinese listing actually contains
Shopitree’s China-region product page calls the item “PS5 Grand Theft Auto VI (Code in Box, No Disc Included).” HKTVmall’s Chinese/English listing gives the same description: a physical-looking package with a download code, not game media. The box is therefore packaging for a digital entitlement, not a disc that can be inserted into a PS5.

- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19. Code can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada.

A PS5 console’s physical location does not override the account restriction. A buyer using an account registered elsewhere may be unable to redeem the code, so check the account country before paying.
What Rockstar and Take-Two have announced
Take-Two Interactive lists November 19, 2026 as the launch date for Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its announced launch prices are $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate. These are official edition prices, not a guarantee of what a regional retailer will charge.

The boxed Standard package is scheduled to be available from November 12, 2026, allowing eligible buyers to preload before launch. Despite the earlier availability and physical box, the package still contains only a code.

Ultimate has no physical package
Rockstar’s support information rules out a boxed or disc-based Ultimate release. The Ultimate Edition is sold digitally. There is no published evidence of a launch Ultimate disc or a later physical-disc plan in the announcements covered here.

How to get Ultimate content with the boxed Standard version
- Buy a listing explicitly identified as “Code in Box, No Disc Included,” and confirm that the seller accepts your PSN account region.
- On the eligible PlayStation account, redeem the code when redemption becomes available.
- Download the Standard Edition to the PS5 and install it.
- Open the PlayStation Store and purchase the digital Ultimate Edition Upgrade offered for the redeemed game.
- Download the additional Ultimate content. The upgrade is separate from the box, and Rockstar’s support guidance does not state a standalone upgrade price.
Buying the digital Ultimate Edition at launch avoids the extra redemption step. Upgrading later can make sense for someone who wants the boxed presentation or the November 12 preload window but does not want to commit to Ultimate before redeeming Standard.
Boxed Standard code versus direct digital Standard
| Factor | Boxed Standard code | Direct digital Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Edition | Standard download entitlement | Standard download entitlement |
| Official price | Retailer price in CNY; variable | $79.99 announced by Take-Two |
| Disc included | No | No |
| Preload timing | Package availability is scheduled for November 12, 2026 | Store timing follows the digital pre-order schedule |
| Account restriction | Region 3 code limited to the six listed territories | Must use the store region where it was purchased |
| Resale or transfer | Unused-code transfer depends on seller terms and whether the code has been exposed; redeemed games are tied to the PSN account | Digital purchase is tied to the purchasing account |
| Collection value | Provides a box for display, but no playable media | No physical packaging |
The boxed option does not provide the usual benefits of a used disc, such as lending or reselling a playable copy. Once its code is redeemed, the game license belongs to the account that redeemed it.

Buying Ultimate upfront versus upgrading later
| Choice | What you pay for | Main advantage | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Edition at launch | $99.99 official announced price | Digital Ultimate entitlement immediately | No physical Ultimate package is available |
| Boxed Standard, then Upgrade | Regional boxed-code price plus a separate digital upgrade; upgrade price not stated | Boxed presentation and scheduled November 12 availability | Requires an eligible account, code redemption and a second store transaction |
Checks to complete before ordering
- Confirm the format: the description must say “code in box” and “no disc included.”
- Confirm the edition: the box is Standard; any Ultimate purchase is digital.
- Confirm PSN territory: your account must be registered in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan or Thailand for the stated Region 3 code.
- Read refund terms: ask whether an unused code can be returned and how the seller handles a code that fails redemption.
- Check delivery timing: November 12, 2026 is the announced boxed-code availability date, while shipping dates vary by seller.
- Budget for Ultimate separately: the upgrade is not included merely because a listing uses the word “Ultimate” in its title.
Why the wording is easy to misread
Marketplace titles often combine “disc,” “physical” and “Ultimate Edition” keywords to describe a boxed product. In this case, those words do not describe the contents. The authoritative descriptions distinguish a Standard code-in-box product from the digital Ultimate Edition. A photograph of a case or a claim that it is a “physical copy” cannot establish that a disc is included.

The Chinese-region listing is a boxed Standard download code, not a GTA 6 disc and not a physical Ultimate Edition. It can be useful for buyers with an eligible Region 3 PSN account who want boxed packaging and the announced November 12 availability. Anyone seeking Ultimate content must either buy the $99.99 digital Ultimate Edition or redeem the boxed Standard code and purchase the separate digital upgrade. Verify the account region and unused-code refund policy before ordering.
