China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) offers two distinct investor contexts—A shares and H shares—so the relevant market, quoted currency, settlement process and investor access depend on which class you own. Its 2026 annual report records cash dividends of RMB3.887 per ten shares for 2025, RMB4.030 for 2024 and RMB4.000 for 2023, including tax. Those are historical distributions, not a promise. The latest half-year report records a board proposal for a RMB2.010-per-ten-share interim dividend for 2026, but approval, record-date and payment details must be confirmed in a later announcement. Dividend analysis is only one part of the decision: credit quality, interest-rate sensitivity, capital, market access, currency and valuation all matter.
What China Construction Bank stock represents
CCB investors are buying shares in a large Chinese commercial bank, but they are not all buying the same security in the same market. CCB has A-share and H-share listings. The share class determines the trading venue, local quotation currency, settlement and the practical route by which an investor can hold or sell the shares. A return comparison is meaningful only when it identifies the class, the market price used and the investor’s own currency, taxes and fees.
CCB’s investor-relations materials are the reporting hub for the 2025 annual report, the 2026 first-quarter report and the 2026 half-year report. The annual report was released on 27 March 2026, and the half-year report was published on 28 September 2026. Those dates matter because a dividend, price or risk measure can change after a filing.

How CCB’s reported dividends should be read
The figures are per ten shares
CCB’s annual-report table quotes cash dividends in RMB per ten shares, including tax—not RMB per single share. Dividing by ten gives a per-share amount, but the issuer’s published unit should be retained when comparing the figures with its tables or announcements.

| Financial year covered | Cash dividend (RMB per ten shares, including tax) | Cash-dividend payout ratio |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | RMB3.887 | 30.0% |
| 2024 | RMB4.030 | 30.0% |
| 2023 | RMB4.000 | 30.1% |
The payout ratio is calculated against consolidated net profit attributable to equity shareholders. It is not the same as dividend yield. A payout ratio describes the share of profit distributed; a yield compares a dividend with a market price.
What the 2025 distribution contained
The annual report states that 2025 cash dividends totalled RMB101,684 million. That total comprised an interim dividend of RMB48,605 million, or RMB1.858 per ten shares, and a final dividend of RMB53,079 million, or RMB2.029 per ten shares. The 2025 plan was approved at the annual shareholders’ meeting on 26 June 2026, according to the subsequent half-year report.
The proposed 2026 interim dividend
CCB’s 2026 half-year report records a board proposal for an interim cash dividend of RMB2.010 per ten shares, including tax. The report gives an aggregate amount of RMB52,582 million and an issuer-reported proposed interim payout ratio of 31.0%, compared with 30.0% for 2025.

The half-year report does not, by itself, establish that the distribution has been finally approved, that a record date has been set or that payment has occurred. Check CCB’s later official announcement index for each of those events before treating the amount as payable.
Dividend yield versus payout ratio
Investors often call a payout ratio a “yield,” but the calculations answer different questions:

- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Comes with Proper Binding
- Payout ratio: dividends divided by the relevant consolidated net profit attributable to equity shareholders.
- Dividend yield: the dividend per share divided by the dated market price of that same share class, normally expressed as a percentage.
A usable yield calculation therefore needs the share class, a specific price date and the currency conversion relevant to the investor. In formula form: yield = annual dividend per share ÷ share price × 100. The available CCB reports provide dividend amounts and payout ratios, but no dated A-share or H-share price. They therefore do not establish a current yield or a valuation multiple.
A high indicated yield can result from a falling share price rather than a safer or larger distribution. Conversely, a lower yield can reflect a higher price. Do not compare a price-based yield for one class with a payout ratio for the company as though they were interchangeable.
Is China Construction Bank stock a good investment?
There is no universal yes-or-no answer. Suitability depends on the investor’s time horizon, tolerance for bank and China-market risk, chosen share class, currency exposure and the valuation available at the time of purchase. The documented dividend record may appeal to an income-oriented investor, but it does not prove that future distributions will match the past.
A disciplined decision separates three questions:
- What is being bought? Identify the A-share or H-share listing, its trading venue, quoted currency and the access and settlement arrangements available to you.
- What cash return is actually supported? Distinguish paid dividends from board proposals, and use the company’s per-ten-share unit, tax wording and approval status.
- What risks and price are being accepted? Read current asset-quality, earnings, capital and regulatory disclosures, then calculate valuation using a dated price for the selected class.
Without those inputs, the evidence supports an informed watchlist or further analysis—not a blanket buy or sell conclusion.
What are the risks of investing in CCB?
Credit and asset-quality risk
A bank’s dividend capacity ultimately depends on the performance of its loan and investment book. In the latest detailed statements, examine the non-performing-loan ratio, overdue and restructured loans, impairment charges, reserve coverage and movements in loan-loss provisions. Also check concentration by borrower type, sector and geography.
Do not infer a specific property-sector loss or improvement from a general headline. The relevant report must define the exposure and show the period, classification and impairment treatment. A rising provision charge, weaker reserve coverage or growing restructured balances would require a different interpretation from a stable headline non-performing-loan ratio.

Net interest income and net interest margin are central to bank profitability. Lower lending rates can reduce asset yields, while deposit pricing, competition and loan demand affect funding costs and volumes. The net effect depends on repricing schedules and management’s disclosures, not on a single policy-rate move.
For a current assessment, compare year-over-year and sequential changes in net interest income and margin, then read any sensitivity or repricing discussion in the same filing. The figures supplied here do not establish a current CCB margin trend or quantify the effect of rates.
Capital and regulatory constraints
Capital ratios determine how much loss-absorbing capacity a bank has and how much room remains for loan growth, acquisitions or distributions. Review current common-equity, tier-one and total-capital ratios, applicable buffers, regulatory minimums, internal targets and any capital issuance. Also look for language about distribution constraints if capital falls under required levels.
The available report extracts are not sufficient to publish a complete current capital analysis. Use the latest full regulatory tables rather than relying on a single ratio in a presentation.

China and Hong Kong market context
Issuer fundamentals and market context are related but not identical. Policy changes, economic growth, property conditions, market liquidity and investor sentiment can move the share price even when a bank’s reported earnings change little. A-share and H-share prices can also diverge because they trade in different markets with different investor bases and currency quotations.
Before investing, confirm that your jurisdiction, account type and intermediary support the intended class. Do not assume that access, withholding treatment, currency conversion or fees are identical for every investor.
Currency risk
CCB reports dividends in RMB, while an investor may measure returns in another currency and may buy a class quoted in a different local currency. Exchange-rate movements can increase or reduce the home-currency value of both dividends and sale proceeds. Record the exchange rate and conversion costs used in any return calculation.
Valuation and price risk
A sound bank can still be a poor purchase at an excessive price, and a low price can reflect expectations of credit losses, weaker earnings or limited liquidity. The supplied CCB reports do not provide a dated market price, price-to-book ratio, price-to-earnings multiple or current yield. Avoid calling the shares cheap or expensive until those figures are sourced for the exact class and date.

Past payout ratios of about 30% show what CCB distributed against reported attributable profit in those years; they do not guarantee a future percentage or amount. Sustainability depends on future earnings, impairment needs, capital requirements, regulatory decisions and management policy. A proposed interim distribution remains subject to the issuer’s approval and payment process.

How to check CCB’s next dividend
The 2026 half-year report identifies a board proposal, not a complete payment timetable. Use this sequence when checking the status:
- Find the latest CCB dividend announcement after the 28 September 2026 half-year report.
- Confirm whether the proposal received the required approval and note the resolution date.
- Check the ex-dividend or record-date information and the payment date.
- Verify the currency-election rules and process that apply to H shareholders, if you hold that class.
- Match the announcement to your broker’s entitlement and settlement records; do not rely solely on a headline amount.
Do not reuse the 2025 timetable as though it applied to the 2026 interim proposal. A later announcement can change the status or provide details absent from the half-year report.
A practical CCB stock due-diligence checklist
- Identify the share class, market, quotation currency and the route by which you can trade it.
- Write every dividend in the issuer’s unit: RMB per ten shares, including or excluding tax as stated.
- Label each amount as historical, proposed, approved or paid.
- Calculate payout ratio from attributable profit, and calculate yield separately from a dated class-specific price.
- Read the latest tables for non-performing, overdue and restructured loans, impairments and reserve coverage.
- Track net interest income, net interest margin, deposit costs, loan demand and management’s repricing commentary.
- Check current capital ratios, buffers, regulatory requirements and any planned issuance.
- Model currency conversion, taxes and fees in your own reporting currency.
- Set a review date because prices, exchange rates, announcements and regulatory disclosures change.
Common investor questions
How much dividend does CCB pay?
For 2025, the annual report records RMB3.887 per ten shares, including tax. It separately records a proposed 2026 interim dividend of RMB2.010 per ten shares, including tax. The latter should not be described as paid until a later official announcement confirms its status.
Is the CCB dividend guaranteed?
No. Historical distributions and payout ratios are evidence of past decisions. Future payments depend on earnings, asset quality, capital requirements, regulation, approvals and the board’s policy.
When is CCB’s next dividend?
The latest report records a board proposal for a 2026 interim dividend but does not, on its own, establish the final approval, record date or payment date. Use CCB’s subsequent official announcements for those details.
What are the main risks of investing in CCB?
Start with credit and asset quality, earnings and interest-rate sensitivity, capital and regulatory requirements, China/Hong Kong market conditions, share-class and currency exposure, valuation and dividend sustainability. Current numerical rankings require the latest detailed disclosures.
Can I compare A-share and H-share returns directly?
Only after identifying each class’s market price and quoted currency, then adjusting for exchange rates, taxes, fees and any differences in access or settlement. A company-level dividend figure alone does not make the two return series interchangeable.
