What drove the profit increase?
Interest income remained the main engine
Net interest income increased 8.46% to RMB 310.958 billion. That growth supplied the largest contribution to the higher operating-income total and indicates that CCB’s core lending-and-funding business expanded despite pressure on banking margins.
Non-interest income improved, but fees slipped
CCB reported net non-interest income growth of 16.31%. Within that result, net fee and commission income fell 1.42% to RMB 64.289 billion. The mix matters: stronger non-interest contributions offset weaker fee income, rather than fee generation driving the overall increase.

Provisioning grew faster than expenses
Credit impairment losses rose 20.79% to RMB 130.028 billion. Because provisions increased faster than operating income, investors should weigh the earnings gain against the cost of protecting the balance sheet. The first-half result is therefore not simply a story of faster revenue; it also reflects higher credit-cost pressure.

What to watch next
The next scheduled CCB results date in the cited market notice is October 31, 2026, for third-quarter results. The most useful follow-up checks are whether operating-income growth continues, whether net interest income remains resilient, whether fee income recovers, and whether impairment charges moderate. Investors comparing CCB with another bank should keep the reporting standard and currency consistent and use the same four measures: income and profit growth, income mix, credit costs and NPLs, and capital plus shareholder distributions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Bottom line for readers
CCB delivered higher first-half revenue and profit, led by interest income and broader non-interest income. The qualification is rising credit impairment, which grew substantially faster than operating income. The EUR 1.12 figure is a dated market snapshot from Lang & Schwarz, while the proposed dividend still requires shareholder approval; both should be checked against current trading and corporate-action information before making an investment decision.
