China Construction Bank (Malaysia) Berhad received its Malaysian commercial banking licence in 2016 and began operations on 27 January 2017. Bank Negara Malaysia still lists it as a licensed commercial bank. The accompanying claim that a stock traded at EUR 1.13 pre-market cannot be verified from the available sources: they do not identify the security, exchange or quote time.
When did the Malaysian bank receive its licence?
Bank Negara Malaysia announced on 1 November 2016 that the Minister of Finance had granted China Construction Bank (Malaysia) Berhad a commercial bank licence. The regulator described the bank as wholly owned by China Construction Bank Corporation Ltd. and said it was the first commercial bank licence granted under the Financial Services Act 2013. Bank Negara Malaysia’s licence announcement said the approval was based on the parent corporation’s prudential strength and its ability to bring propositions in Malaysia’s best interest.
The bank commenced commercial operations on 27 January 2017. Bank Negara’s notice states that the licence was granted pursuant to section 9 of the Financial Services Act 2013. The commencement notice makes clear that the licence and launch were historical events, not a newly issued licence. The two dates refer to separate milestones: the licence grant was announced in November 2016, while commercial operations began in January 2017.
What is its status in Malaysia now?
Bank Negara Malaysia’s participant directory, accessed on 13 October 2026, lists China Construction Bank (Malaysia) Berhad as a licensed commercial bank. The directory gives its headquarters as Level 20, Menara CCB, Quill 6, No. 6, Leboh Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. The regulator’s directory entry confirms its classification in that directory; it does not provide evidence for a stock quote.

The bank is identified in the 2016 announcement as a wholly owned subsidiary of China Construction Bank Corporation Ltd. That corporate relationship does not, by itself, establish that the Malaysian subsidiary has publicly traded shares or explain which security a market-price headline might mean. Is the EUR 1.13 pre-market stock price confirmed?
